Chapter 297 Gu Junzhe escapes, Shen Yuan's strange behavior

The change happened in an instant.

The two S-class assassins holding Gu Junzhe groaned as their chests caved in.

She stumbled, her body falling uncontrollably backward, and the hand that was holding Gu Junzhe instantly slipped away.

In the blink of an eye, the two figures moved simultaneously.

One of them was Gu Junci, and she reached out to grab Gu Junzhe without hesitation.

The other was a black-clad assassin with an abyss-like aura. His reaction was astonishingly fast; he released the display screen from his hand and moved with lightning speed, heading straight for the out-of-control Gu Junzhe.

Gu Junci was closer to Gu Junzhe, but the man in black was faster than her.

Just as his large hand was about to touch Gu Junzhe's shoulder, his body, still blurring with afterimages, suddenly seemed to crash into an invisible barrier.

A muffled groan escaped his lips, his tall body shuddered, and he was thrown backward uncontrollably.

Taking advantage of this moment, Gu Junci grabbed Gu Junzhe, pulled his hand, and backed away repeatedly.

After retreating to a relatively safe area, Gu Junci quickly tore off the lip seal from Gu Junzhe's mouth.

She placed her hand on his shoulder, her eyes filled with heartache and panic, and scanned him to check for any injuries.

From being held by the assassin to being rescued by Gu Junci, only a few seconds passed, and Gu Junzhe was clearly still a little dazed.

When Gu Junci tore off the gagging tape and he felt Gu Junci's hand pressing on his shoulder with real force, Gu Junzhe's mouth instantly trembled and tears welled up in his eyes.

"elder sister!"

His voice choked with sobs, his eyes red, and he suddenly crashed into Gu Junci's arms, hugging her legs and burying his face in her waist, bursting into tears.

Gu Junci's eyes also reddened instantly, and his heart felt like it had been thrown into sour water soaked with lemon, causing him to ache all over.

She reached out and lifted his head, then squatted down. Gu Junzhe's eyes were red and bulging, filled with the undisguised fear and grievance of a child. He was sobbing and unable to speak.

Gu Junci felt a sharp pain in her heart, and her usual shrewd and capable businesswoman demeanor vanished. Instead, she was just a loving older sister who frantically wiped away her brother's tears.

Suppressing the bitterness in her heart, she gently comforted him in a hoarse voice:

"Ah Zhe, don't be afraid anymore."

“I’m here now, no one can take A-Zhe away from me.”

A child who is not loved does not deserve to suffer.

Having been in a state of extreme fear and helplessness for days, Gu Junzhe couldn't stop his tears when he returned to his loving sister's side; in fact, the more he wiped them, the more tears flowed.

"elder sister!"

Sobbing, he threw himself into Gu Junci's arms, wrapping his arms around her neck and burying his face in her neck, crying so pitifully.

Gu Junci had no choice but to hug him back with red eyes, gently patting his back to comfort him.

Beside them, Xiao Wujie and the other two had already appeared. Xiao Wujie leaned against Chu Liyue, looking at this scene with some emotion.

Chu Liyue placed his hand in her pocket to warm it, her face expressionless, and suddenly said:

“If you cry like this, I’ll comfort you just like she did.”

She's better at coaxing him than he is.

Xiao Wujie almost choked on her words, his pale, handsome face flushed slightly, and he gave a wry smile:

"Sister, I won't cry."

His tears had long since dried up during those dark days.

He has stopped crying.

After a long while, Gu Junzhe's sobbing finally subsided.

Gu Junci gently patted his trembling shoulder, signaling him to stop crying, because the three black-robed figures opposite them had stood up at some point and were looking at them with unfathomable eyes.

As Gu Junci stood up, Gu Junzhe's eyelashes, glistening with water droplets, trembled slightly. He sniffed and turned around, meeting the gazes of the three assassins. Instinctively, his body trembled, and he hid behind Gu Junci.

Gu Junci gripped his small hand tightly, meeting the assassin's gaze.

The assassin looked at her with a cold and dark gaze, his killing intent rising, but he only looked at her for a moment before shifting his gaze to Xiao Wujie and the other two.

These three are the real deadly threat.

With a slight flicker of their eyes, the two assassins beside them turned their gazes toward the person in the middle. Xiao Wujie and his two companions were incredibly famous in SL, with some even calling them "S-class assassin harvesters".

To date, no assassin in SL has ever gotten the better of them, except for Shen Yuan, who almost killed Xiao Wujie.

"The Abyss?"

Looking at the imposing and terrifying man in black in the middle, Xiao Wujie crossed his arms and spoke indifferently.

Although the person in front of him was dressed in a black robe and wore an iron mask, he had almost been killed by this person before, and with that familiar aura and feeling, he would not mistake him for someone else.

As soon as he finished speaking, Lu Zhufeng's expression tightened instantly, his fierce aura surged, and his sharp and cold gaze fell on the terrifying Shen Yuan.

Despite being recognized, Shen Yuan showed no panic. His deep eyes beneath the iron mask narrowed slightly, and his voice remained calm:

"haven't seen you for a long time."

It's not like a rival, but more like greeting an old friend.

Chu Liyue suddenly flicked her finger lightly at Xiao Wujie's palm. Xiao Wujie looked at her, but she only stared at the black-clad, iron-masked Shen Yuan, her eyes flashing with cold light, and said calmly:

"Stay here, don't move, leave it to me and Lu Zhufeng."

Despite the freezing weather and his fever, she could tell that Xiao Wujie was in very poor condition.

Xiao Wujie lowered his eyes, his expression obedient, and gave a soft "hmm".

Chu Liyue put his hand into the pocket of her down jacket, took a slow step, and walked straight towards Chen Yuan.

Lu Zhufeng beckoned to the two black-clad assassins beside him, "Come here, be more proactive. Do I have to run up to you before you'll move?"

The two assassins remained motionless, their gazes darkening.
