The temple is simple and elegant.
Wind chimes hang from the upturned eaves, swaying gently in the wind and making a clear and melodious sound.
Under the eaves, with gauze curtains fluttering gently, two beautiful and elegant women knelt gracefully beside a table.
The purple clay teapot sits on the stove, making a "bubbling" sound as the tea boils, and a delicate aroma of tea wafts from its small spout.
With her hands wrapped in white gauze, Gu Junci picked up the scalding hot teapot handle, bent down, and poured a cup of tea for each of them.
Lin Qingyi held the teacup with her slender fingers, gently blew on it, and took a small sip.
He then put down his teacup, looked at Gu Junci across from him with a complicated expression, and asked softly:
"Why did you come so quickly? I was thinking of coming to find you."
Gu Junci slightly raised his eyes, his gaze revealing an indescribable emptiness, and a sense of silence emanated from his body.
"There's nothing to do in the deep mountains and forests, but I waited for you to come."
She curled her lips slightly, a smile that was hard to tell whether it was sarcastic or melancholic.
"You know their rules and regulations don't apply to me, and nobody here knows who Gu Junci is?"
Lin Qingyi pursed her lips slightly, her eyes flickered, and she hesitated for a moment before speaking:
"Why imprison yourself here? This kind of place is not suitable for you."
Before he could finish speaking, Gu Junci gently raised his hand to interrupt him.
She shook her head, her voice sounding somewhat tired: "I have no interest in the outside world anymore."
She looked up at the beautiful mountains and clear waters outside, the ancient temple serene and secluded, her gaze unfocused:
"It's nice here, with no disturbances and no fighting."
Lin Qingyi's eyes flickered slightly. She took a sip of tea and finally smiled gently: "Yes, this is quite good."
Her smile was gentle and graceful, perfectly complementing the serene and lofty atmosphere of the ancient temple.
It seemed like no one had spoken for a long time. Gu Junci was unusually talkative, a hint of teasing flashing in his eyes as he joked:
“I think this place is very suitable for you. Even the abbot told me that you have a very high level of understanding of Buddhism.”
"How about we team up for a few years?"
Lin Qingyi's gaze faltered slightly, then she chuckled and shook her head, looking out at the misty mountains and forests, and murmured:
"Never mind, I'm not free from worldly desires."
I have my own obsessions and concerns...
Gu Junci's smile faded slightly as he looked down at the prayer plaque she had placed on the table and asked softly:
Do you want to pray for blessings?
Lin Qingyi nodded and gave a soft "hmm".
After a slight hesitation, Gu Junci's expression turned complicated as he asked:
"How...is he?"
Lin Qingyi's clear gaze flickered slightly, and she lowered her eyes a little. "It's alright."
Seeing this, Gu Junci didn't ask any more questions. He suppressed his emotions, stood up, and said, "Let's go, I'll go with you."
Lin Qingyi picked up the prayer plaque, stood up gracefully, and walked outside with her.
The wishing tree is located at the highest point of Yun Shen Temple, which is also the highest peak in this mountain.
On the misty mountaintop, ancient trees stand tall and robust, their branches and leaves lush, seemingly the soul of this mountain forest.
Having weathered a century of trials and tribulations, it has witnessed joys and sorrows, separations and reunions.
The trees were covered with all sorts of colorful prayer plaques, swaying gently in the wind, as if conveying the heartfelt wishes of everyone to the sky.
Lin Qingyi looked up at the sacred ancient tree, took the pen from Gu Junci, and wrote down the name "Xiao Wujie".
As her hair danced lightly, she clasped her hands together, held the prayer plaque in her palms, bowed her head, closed her eyes, and made a silent prayer.
Send your deepest, most sincere wishes to the heavens.
May you wake up and recover soon, and live a life free from illness.
Gu Junci stood with his back to her on the edge of the cliff, gazing into the distance with deep eyes, his clothes fluttering in the wind.
After making her wish, Lin Qingyi hung the prayer plaque on a branch, then walked to the edge of the cliff and stood side by side with Gu Junci.
Looking down from the highest point, the autumn scenery of the mountains and forests can be seen in its entirety.
At the foot of the mountain, the forests are ablaze with color, a vibrant tapestry of hues, like a magnificent oil painting.
The sea of clouds in the mountains is vast and boundless, sometimes rolling and sometimes still. Sunlight shines through the gaps in the clouds, forming beams of light that illuminate this ancient land.
Exquisite and captivating, mysterious and dreamlike.
Gazing into the distance, Gu Junci's eyes flickered slightly, her expression vacant and dazed. After a long while, she spoke softly:
“I scattered A-Zhe’s ashes here.”
"I hope that he can be cleansed by the good wishes of the world and wash away the bad luck that I have tainted him with."
"May you live a carefree and happy life in your next life."
The mountain breeze stirred Lin Qingyi's hair and dress as she turned to look at Gu Junci, her expression complex.
She had a good relationship with Gu Junci. She didn't blame herself for not being able to save her only remaining family member, her beloved younger brother, but she did feel regret.
When Gu Junzhe was sent to the hospital, he had no vital signs. Aisie Hall never intended for him to survive when he took action.
At this point, only Gu Junci remained of the once-glorious Gu family.
Gu Junzhe's death seemed to be the final straw that broke Gu Junci's back.
This once stunning beauty in the capital, the scheming Miss Gu, was utterly despondent. She abandoned all her past glory and hid in these mountains and forests.
The mountain breeze could cleanse the soul, but it couldn't wash away the dust from Gu Junci's eyes. The serene mountain scenery was reflected in her eyes, yet within them flowed complex emotions that some couldn't decipher. She murmured:
"Qingyi, why do you think so?"
"I committed all the sins, so why aren't they punished on my behalf instead of being punished in my place?"
She suddenly chuckled softly, a laugh tinged with irony, even a touch of melancholy.
"No, I should say this is the greatest punishment God has ever given me."
