Upon receiving the news that Xiao Wujie had woken up, Ye Jinyu rushed to the manor without stopping, braving the wind and rain.
Looking at Xiao Wujie, who was being held in Chu Liyue's arms, his eyes red and swollen, his eyes tightly closed, he asked in a deep voice:
When did you wake up?
Chu Liyue coldly replied, "One hour ago."
"When did you faint again?"
Five minutes ago.
How did you faint?
"My kiss."
Ye Jinyu's eyes suddenly lifted, her lips involuntarily parted, and she was momentarily speechless.
His eye twitched slightly, and he said helplessly:
"Put him down first, let me check him out."
After checking, he breathed a sigh of relief and first reassured Chu Liyue:
"First of all, you can rest assured that he has woken up and will not return to that vegetative state."
Fearing that Chu Liyue would blame herself, he explained again:
"It's not your fault that he's unconscious now. He's been sleeping for too long and needs time to adjust."
"I estimate that he won't be able to be sober for many days, and this situation may last for one to two weeks."
“I will stay here these days to observe his condition; he will be fine.”
Ye Jinyu's words soon came true.
Over the next few days, Xiao Wujie rarely woke up, and even when he did, his mind was not particularly clear.
In the past few days, Chu Liyue has put aside all her affairs and stayed by his side without leaving for a moment.
On the fifth day, she had an urgent matter at the company that required her attention.
Without pausing for a moment, she finished the task in two hours and immediately returned to the manor. Unexpectedly, Yunmo informed her that during the two hours she was gone, Xiao Wujie had been awake for a while and was quite lucid.
Chu Liyue was filled with remorse and instructed Yunmo to call her immediately if Xiao Wujie woke up whenever she went out.
On the tenth day, she had just finished dealing with some business outside when Yunmo told her that Xiao Wujie had woken up.
She rushed back to the manor and entered the room to find Xiao Wujie sitting on the headboard in a loose shirt, with Yunmo lying beside him.
The moment she entered, Xiao Wujie's lowered gaze suddenly lifted, his lips moved slightly, but then he lowered his head again, his eyes darting away, and pulled a strand of hair from his forehead to cover the small scar at the corner of his eye. He pursed his lips and remained silent.
In the past, whenever she returned from outside, he would immediately call out "Sister" with delight.
When Yunmo saw her return, he consciously left the room.
Chu Liyue's gaze never strayed from Xiao Wujie's. She gracefully sat down on the edge of the bed, and Xiao Wujie's bony hands subconsciously gripped the corner of the blanket.
The first time, he didn't immediately snuggle into her arms and cling to her.
Chu Liyue lowered her gaze slightly, gently stroked the back of his hand with its white knuckles, pulled the blanket tighter around him, and then gently embraced him.
She held him, and he obediently let her hold him, but there was no weight in her arms because his body was tense and never relaxed.
Chu Liyue wrapped her arms around his waist, placed her palms on his flat stomach, looked at his lowered profile, and spoke softly:
“My sweetheart, I want to hear you call me.”
Xiao Wujie's eyelashes fluttered slightly. He looked up at her and softly called out:
"elder sister."
After saying that, he lowered his head again and stopped looking at her.
He simply held her, without saying a word, without making a fuss, and without pestering her to coax or kiss him.
Everything seemed to have returned to when he first arrived in the capital; he was obedient and well-behaved, but with an added sense of caution.
Chu Liyue's eyes flickered slightly, and she suddenly released her arms from his.
Xiao Wujie's body trembled slightly, and he gripped the corner of the blanket even tighter.
As he lowered his head, his long eyelashes trembling slightly, Chu Liyue reached out and hugged him again, but with something in her other hand.
That was... the letter he wrote.
When his gaze fell upon the letter stained with his blood, Xiao Wujie's eyes trembled, and the veins on the back of his hand bulged.
The next second, Chu Liyue's low, cold, and calm voice came from above him:
Are you afraid of this?
He lowered his head and didn't speak, but Chu Liyue chuckled softly:
"I haven't read this letter."
Xiao Wujie looked up instantly, his gaze trembling slightly as he stared at her. After a moment of stunned silence, he asked cautiously and hoarsely:
"Why……"
Chu Liyue lowered her eyes slightly, a self-deprecating smile curving her lips:
"I... am not worthy to see."
Xiao Wujie's eyes widened in shock, but before he could speak, Chu Liyue covered his lips with her hand:
"I don't deserve to see it, and I don't want to see it."
She gazed at Xiao Wujie, a crimson glint rising in her eyes, her voice hoarse:
“I think I’m stupid. I was completely fooled by Aisie Hall.”
"She just threw a question at me, but I was distracted by a question that had no answer."
She gently touched the corner of Xiao Wujie's eye with her fingers, her eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions—sourness, heartache, and regret—that were difficult to describe.
"But I lost my composure, and you will have to pay the price."
"You're not worth it for me."
Xiao Wujie's eyes trembled: "Sister... Sister."
Then, his eyes reddened: "So, you really don't want me anymore."
Chu Liyue shook her head, lowered her head and gently kissed the corner of his eye, her voice hoarse: "Let me finish."
She hugged Xiao Wujie tightly, giving him a sense of security, her bloodshot eyes meeting his.
“My sweetheart, you’ve been sleeping for so long, and I’ve been thinking about it for so long too.”
"The more I think about it, the more foolish I feel. You're right here beside me. Whether you're real or fake, I'm the one who has the most say."
"If you're a fake, I'm the one who should have realized it the most. I clearly know the answer in my heart, but I was stupid enough to let her confuse me."
