Xiao Wujie looked at him, his eyes flickered slightly, and he responded softly with a "okay." Then he picked up a spoon and scooped up a spoonful of soup.
Xiao Shuihan hurriedly reminded him nervously, "Blow on it, be careful it's hot."
Xiao Wujie's ears burned slightly. Fortunately, he was bedridden during the rainy days, otherwise he was afraid that if Xiao Shuihan saw him outside, he would remind him that it was raining and he should run home.
Xiao Shuihan put a lot of effort into making the soup. It was rich in ingredients but not greasy. Knowing that he disliked oily food, he carefully skimmed off the oil from the surface of the soup, leaving only the delicious broth to linger in the mouth and leave a fragrant aftertaste.
Seeing that although his movements were slow, he didn't stop drinking the soup, Xiao Shuihan unconsciously clenched his fingers together and asked softly, "Is it good?"
Xiao Wujie was so engrossed in sipping the soup that he forgot to reassure him earlier. Upon hearing this, he quickly nodded and said, "It's delicious."
Xiao Shuihan's joy was evident: "If you like it, drink more. If you like it, I'll cook it for you again next time."
Luo Yilan smiled gently and reminded him softly, "Child, there are spare ribs downstairs that have been cleaned of excess oil. Have a couple of pieces."
Xiao Wujie nodded obediently, and amidst their delighted gazes, he picked up a small spare rib and nibbled on it in small bites.
Xiao Shuihan smiled and pushed the trash can at his feet, then spat out the bones for him.
A warm atmosphere filled the air as Xiao Shuihan and Luo Yilan quietly watched him eat, their eyes brimming with tenderness and immense satisfaction.
It seems that this is an extremely happy thing for them.
After all, they had been waiting for this moment for twenty years.
Xiao Wujie had a small appetite; he could only drink half of it before he couldn't drink any more, and he looked distressed.
Xiao Shuihan didn't make things difficult for him. While clearing away the dishes, she said with some heartache:
"Good child, you are too thin. Once you feel better, you should eat more."
Xiao Wujie nodded slightly, and Luo Yilan glanced at the residue on the corner of his mouth, her eyes flashing slightly.
Perhaps Xiao Wujie's performance today gave her some confidence. She picked up a tissue, raised her hand, and gently wiped Xiao Wujie's lips.
Xiao Wujie suddenly looked up, his body stiffening for a moment. In his eyes, Luo Yilan's expression was cautious and serious. He clenched his fingers, but did not dodge.
Rubbing the tissue in her hand, Luo Yilan's eyes flickered slightly. This was probably the closest she had been to her son in many days.
But even this action was driven by an impulse; she was also afraid that her son would resist her and avoid her.
Seemingly realizing that her actions had been offensive, she smiled at Xiao Wujie, a smile that conveyed a gentle satisfaction, yet also a slight awkwardness.
Xiao Wujie looked at her, his eyes flickered, he took a deep breath, and suddenly said:
"Thank you, Mom."
