In the suite.
After venting his anger and causing trouble for Lu Zhufeng, Xiao Wujie was even more exhausted. He slumped lazily onto Chu Liyue's lap, nestled in her warm and soft embrace.
Chu Liyue had no makeup on, but her skin was still snow-white and smooth. Her eyebrows and eyes were as beautiful as a perfect work of art. Her long hair was loose and fell naturally down to her chest, with a few strands being played with by Xiao Wujie's fingertips.
She was holding Xiao Wujie's thin wrist, gently applying ointment to the broken skin with her fingertips.
Xiao Wujie's extremely long eyelashes trembled slightly from time to time. He rested his head on her shoulder and groaned softly, "It hurts..."
Chu Liyue sighed helplessly, tilted her head and gently kissed his trembling eyelashes: "I've applied the medicine, it'll be fine soon."
After applying the medicine, she tossed the ointment onto the table and gently pressed and stroked Xiao Wujie's scalp with her slender, white fingers.
Xiao Wujie felt extremely comfortable being touched by her. He squinted his eyes, tilted his head back slightly, and offered his head to her hand. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed himself tightly against her chest, reluctant to part.
Not far away, Xiao Shuihan, who was arranging the food, smacked his lips with a mixture of admiration and envy.
He knew his son's status in the family was probably not low, but he never expected it to be this high.
He was held in his daughter-in-law's arms and pampered, treated like a little emperor.
I need to talk to Alan when I get back. It's necessary to follow the example of my daughter-in-law and improve his treatment a bit.
After setting out the dishes, Xiao Shuihan called everyone to eat.
At the ornate, retro-style dining table, Xiao Shuihan and Luo Yilan sat at the head of the table, with the rest of the guests spreading out on either side of them.
Lu Zhufeng looked sullen. He casually pulled up a chair and sat down on the outer edge, arms crossed, like a tall sculpture.
Xiao Wujie, led by Chu Liyue, walked past him, glanced at him indifferently, and sat down next to Luo Yilan on his own.
Lu Zhufeng stared at his thin back, his eyes widening. "Why the hell aren't you sitting next to me?"
This was a position he had calculated. Xiao Wujie liked to sit to Chu Liyue's left. In most situations, Chu Liyue's position was closer to the main seat, and he was willing to be the weaker party.
The position he chose was reserved for Xiao Wujie.
Damn it, he's changed!
In the past, when he couldn't stand Xiao Wujie's antics, he would always show him some kind of support afterwards.
He had already chosen his seat today, and he sat down next to Luo Yilan with such a fresh and charming demeanor, even changing his usual habits.
But even though his eyes were practically popping out of their sockets, Xiao Wujie only showed him the perfect back of his head, obediently letting Luo Yilan pinch his cheeks, wholeheartedly acting as a good son, without even glancing at him.
Seeing that everyone had arrived, Xiao Shuihan waved his hand without any airs and said, "Let's eat now that everyone's seated. There's no need for so many formalities."
The others immediately started eating. Yunmo leaned against Chuwan, her eyes sparkling, her little hands pointing wildly.
"Sister Wan, I want to eat this."
"And that one..."
Chu Wan would put every single food item on his plate without missing a bite. He would always put the chopsticks to Chu Wan's lips first, feeding her first. They played this feeding game to each other with great enjoyment.
Before everyone had even eaten, they were already being fed a mouthful of dog food (a Chinese slang term for witnessing public displays of affection).
Leng Ruxue, her face full of resentment, poked around in the bowl with her chopsticks.
They took advantage of her absence and made a big show of their affection for each other.
And that damned little thief Yunmo, he turned her icy goddess-like Wan Jie into a motherly girlfriend.
Seeing her cynical and world-weary appearance, the elegant and gentle Lin Qingyi couldn't help but shake her head and chuckle.
I patted her head, picked up the serving chopsticks and helped her pick up some food. As she put it, a meal can cure all your worries.
Seeing this, Leng Ruxue smiled and said, "Thank you, Sister Qingyi."
As she spoke, she pulled her chair closer to Lin Qingyi, as if she wanted to get away from Yun Mo and Chu Wan.
Ai Ruoman gently brushed her long hair behind her ear, exuding elegance and sophistication. She ate a small piece of shrimp, then suddenly noticed that Lu Zhufeng was still sitting with his arms crossed, not even holding his chopsticks.
Just as Ai Ruoman was about to ask him why he wasn't eating, she noticed that his eyes were blazing with anger as he stared straight in Xiao Wujie's direction.
Xiao Wujie couldn't eat anything else, only liquid food, so Xiao Shuihan and Luo Yilan specially instructed the hotel chef to prepare a medicinal soup for him.
Without him even lifting a finger, Luo Yilan filled a delicate little bowl for him, pushed it in front of him, and reminded him:
"Sweetie, drink slowly, it's a bit hot."
Xiao Wujie blew on the spoon and took a small sip. Suddenly, he put down the spoon, picked up his untouched chopsticks and plate, and picked up a little bit of each of the exquisite dishes on the electronic turntable.
Xiao Shuihan was taken aback and subconsciously stopped him: "My dear son, you can't eat these."
Xiao Wujie chuckled and shook his head at him, then stood up amidst his surprised gaze, carrying his tray as he slowly walked to Lu Zhufeng's side.
He pushed the plate in front of Lu Zhufeng, even setting out the chopsticks. His pale, bony hand rested on Lu Zhufeng's shoulder, a smile playing at the corners of his eyes. He leaned down and breathed into Lu Zhufeng's ear:
"Assistant Lu, do I have to coax you to eat a meal?"
Lu Zhufeng's body stiffened instantly, a rare blush rising to the tips of his ears. He stiffly brushed his hand away, desperately suppressing the corners of his mouth, his face full of arrogance:
"Didn't I say we weren't close?"
"Do I need Young Master Xiao to care whether I eat or not?"
Xiao Wujie braced himself against the back of his chair with one hand and on the table with the other, his smile deepening as he chuckled softly.
"But I've remembered everything again, haven't I?"
"I've come to apologize to Assistant Lu and thank him for saving my life."
Lu Zhufeng crossed his arms, turned his head away, and refused to look at him, but a slight smile played on his lips.
"That's more like it. At least you haven't lost your conscience."
Xiao Wujie chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling: "Then, Assistant Lu, can you start eating now?"
"Do I need to kneel down, or do I need Sister Man to feed me?"
