Chapter 433 True love is letting go

"If it were Chu Liyue, would you think the same way?" Ye Jinyu asked.

Xiao Wujie's gaze shifted slightly.

Lu Zhufeng rested his arms on the steps, his long legs stretched out, his posture lazy and unrestrained, and said in a low voice:

"He might still think that way, but he might secretly cry under the covers."

Ye Jinyu looked at Xiao Wujie, a slight smile playing on her lips, but the curve was tinged with bitterness: "You understand her better than I do."

"You've positioned yourself more correctly than I have."

Xiao Wujie's lips moved, but Ye Jinyu shook her head and interrupted him: "I know you're not feeling well either, and I know you mean well by saying this to comfort me."

"I see."

Xiao Wujie pursed his lips slightly, his voice low and hoarse: "Thank you."

Beside him, Lu Zhufeng stretched out, almost lying on the steps, and winked at Ye Jinyu with a wicked grin:

"Old Ye, tell me the truth, are you jealous of him?"

Ye Jinyu rested her elbows on her knees, glanced at Xiao Wujie, and chuckled softly: "I used to be jealous."

"You were jealous before? So you're not jealous now? And when did you stop being jealous?" Lu Zhufeng raised an eyebrow, determined to get to the bottom of it.

Ye Jinyu's breath caught in her throat for a moment at his question: "Did you come here today to bring me bad luck?"

They specifically asked him questions about the knife.

"Hey! We're supposed to be chatting, having a heart-to-heart, but you don't say a word. What's the point of chatting then?"

"Tell me quickly, tell me quickly, I won't be able to sleep tonight if you don't tell me."

Ye Jinyu pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling extremely frustrated. After a moment, her body slumped, and she relaxed as if deflated, whispering:

“I told you when I was in Boston that I understood her and had let it go.”

He gazed wistfully at the setting sun in the distance, while the surrounding air fell into silence.

When he turned around, he suddenly noticed three pairs of eyes, each with a different expression, staring intently at him.

Lu Zhufeng's face clearly said, "You call this letting go?"

Ye Jinyu stretched out her long legs and placed them on the steps, lowered her eyes and said softly, "Seeing is not necessarily believing."

"When I first started studying medicine, I would feel terrible seeing patients suffer. I shed many tears because I couldn't save patients, and I even thought about putting down my scalpel several times."

"But as a doctor, I have countless patients waiting for me. I cannot stop for one person. Heaven will not stop taking lives because of my sadness. Death will not give doctors time to grieve."

"So gradually, I became seen by many patients as a heartless person who showed no emotion in the face of illness and life and death."

"I've really figured this out. Maybe... I just need some time to adjust."

Yunmo blinked a few times and asked tentatively in a low voice, "But Brother Ye, you said you still like Sister Qingyi."

As soon as she finished speaking, a look of disorientation appeared in Ye Jinyu's eyes for the first time.

Lu Zhufeng, and even Xiao Wujie, couldn't help but turn their gazes toward him.

“My family was very strict when I was a child, and I haven’t had time since I grew up. In fact, I’ve only ever watched one TV series from beginning to end since I was born.”

"There is a couple in the drama who are entangled for three lifetimes but cannot be together. At the end of the film, his master makes a description about 'true love' that I have always remembered."

He said that true love should not confuse the other person with obsessive love; it should set them free, fulfill their needs, and free them from constraints...

As the sun was about to set, a lingering glow reflected in his eyes, creating a uniquely enchanting scene.

He smiled and said, "His master said a lot, but I can't remember the specifics anymore. However, I always remember his final conclusion: if you truly love someone, you have to let go."

"So, what she can do, I can do too."

As night approached, a chill began to creep in the air. Xiao Wujie, dressed in thin clothes, coughed softly in the silence.

Lu Zhufeng sprawled out on the steps, utterly disregarding his image, and glanced at Xiao Wujie, saying, "You should get lost."

Xiao Wujie glanced at him sideways, a cold glint in his eyes. Lu Zhufeng sat up with a jolt and pointed at Ye Jinyu:

"Ask him, he's a doctor."

"That shameless patient is out in the wind and is coughing and wheezing. Shouldn't he go back to his room?"

Ye Jinyu glanced at him indifferently, but still said to Xiao Wujie, "Go back. You need to maintain your physical condition before the surgery and avoid catching a cold."

Xiao Wujie's eyes flickered, and he asked Lu Zhufeng, "And you?"

Lu Zhufeng gave Xiao Wujie a look that said "mind your own business," and seeing that Xiao Wujie didn't move, he suddenly said, "I'm taking him to a foot massage parlor, are you coming?"

Xiao Wujie couldn't help but cough again, and Yun Mo beside him said nervously, "Teacher, let's go back. Your wife will be angry if she finds out."

As she spoke, she grabbed Xiao Wujie's arm and pulled him back to his room.

Xiao Wujie glanced at Ye Jinyu before taking a step. Ye Jinyu didn't say anything, only gave a barely perceptible nod, and watched him leave.

After Xiao Wujie and Yun Mo left, only Lu Zhufeng and Ye Jinyu remained, sitting side by side on the steps. The setting sun finally disappeared, swallowing the remaining light reflected in their eyes, along with their shadows.

As the night breeze ruffled his disheveled hair, Lu Zhufeng asked in a low voice, "Are you really sure?"

Ye Jinyu said in a calm tone, "I don't want to emphasize it a second time."

Lu Zhufeng's eyes twitched slightly: "I was just wondering what your plans are for the future?"

“Once the surgery is over, she most likely won’t stay here for long, and you won’t come here often either. Once you make the decision, it may be forever.”

Ye Jinyu gazed into the distance with deep eyes, then suddenly said, "You've been talking a lot of nonsense today."

Lu Zhufeng smiled faintly, but Ye Jinyu turned her gaze to him, her tone playful: "Why did you go straight to the point today and ramble on for so long?"

Lu Zhufeng rubbed his hands together, picked up the suit jacket that Xiao Wujie had sat on, put it on, and put on that unreliable smile again:
