Chu Liyue stood at the door of the ward wearing a bathrobe, her hair wet with water droplets clinging to the ends.
In fact, Xiao Wujie's VIP ward had a washroom, but in order not to disturb his rest, she chose to go to the ward next door.
She quickly took a shower, without drying her hair or changing her clothes, and then came out.
She was worried that she might miss anything about Xiao Wujie while she was showering.
But standing in front of the ward, it was quiet inside, and with Lu Zhufeng with him, there shouldn't be any major problems.
With this thought in mind, she relaxed and stood in front of the railing at the edge of the walkway, gently brushing her damp hair with her fingers to let the moisture off her body.
The corridor outside the VIP ward was very spacious. Because it was a private hospital and not open to the public, the corridor was not crowded like in a regular hospital; instead, it was completely empty and extremely quiet.
She rested her hands on the railing, her posture relaxed, easing the tension and fatigue of staying by Xiao Wujie's bedside day and night for the past few days.
His eyes were somewhat dazed as he watched a few scattered medical staff hurrying by downstairs, and he seemed a little out of sorts.
Her emotions were complicated, a jumble of feelings swirling in her mind, leaving her unable to untangle them.
She didn't know what she was angry about, or who she should be angry at.
But that feeling is like a heavy stone pressing on my heart, something I can't shake off.
Maybe she's just making trouble for herself!
Was Xiao Wujie wrong in his actions?
He single-handedly minimized casualties and defeated his opponent in the shortest possible time. In many people's eyes, he should be a hero.
Who was Xiao Wujie risking his life twice to deal with Chu Feihong for?
In the end, it's all for her!
What can she blame him for? And from what angle should she blame him?
She could only conclude that she was making trouble for herself and getting angry at herself!
But when she watched him struggle in the hospital bed, feeling his life slipping away so quickly, as if he might disappear before her eyes at any moment, her heart ached and she was filled with anger.
What does he value his own life? Has he already become indifferent to life and death?
What about his words of liking her and wanting to be with her forever? Was he just trying to make her happy?
Doesn't he know how afraid he is of losing him, and how much effort he is putting into keeping him, even for a moment?
She had planned to set off for the far north immediately after the matter at Haijing Bay was resolved, determined to retrieve Reagent No. 3. But given his current condition, how could she possibly feel at ease traveling to the far north?
Even if she retrieves Reagent No. 3 from the far north, she'll still need to conduct continuous experiments to perfect it. With his reckless behavior, can he really wait until she's perfected the reagent to save him?
She couldn't understand it, and she didn't want to reveal these unpleasant thoughts to him, who was still sick.
She only wanted to show him her best and most beautiful side, and didn't want him to be affected by these negative emotions.
Therefore, she chose to calm herself down before facing him.
A gentle breeze in the corridor caressed her slightly damp hair, gradually calming the chaotic emotions in her heart.
Suddenly, the sound of a water glass shattering in the ward broke her thoughts.
Immediately afterwards, she heard a thud as someone fell to the ground and a muffled groan of pain.
Her heart skipped a beat, and without any hesitation, she rushed into the ward as fast as she could.
The first thing you see is Xiao Wujie lying on the cold ground, his face deathly pale. Broken glass fragments and the water in the glass are scattered around him, and all the tubes and IV drips that were inserted into his body have been removed at some point.
Xiao Wujie lay on the ground covered with shards of glass and water, struggling to get up.
He wanted to go out and find Chu Liyue.
I need to explain to her that I am not reckless, nor am I indifferent to her feelings.
He will actively cooperate with the treatment, strive to live, and do everything he can to fulfill his vow to be with her forever!
He knew that misunderstandings would only deepen and the gap between people would widen.
He was in the wrong first, and he didn't want to waste time. He wanted to explain himself immediately and try to win her forgiveness.
However, he overestimated his physical condition and carefully removed the various tubes inserted into his body and the IV drip in his hand.
Holding onto the table, he tried to get out of bed to go find her, but the little strength he had left in his hands and legs was not enough to support him walking.
Not only did he accidentally knock over the water glass, but he also fell to the ground.
He had originally longed for Chu Liyue to come in and keep him company, hug him, and pamper him, but now he didn't want her to come in at all, and was even terrified the moment he saw her come in.
He was afraid that Chu Liyue would misunderstand him as someone who didn't value his life, so he deliberately degraded his body to get her attention.
They already had a misunderstanding because of him, and he didn't want to deepen the rift between them because of him again.
He saw Chu Liyue standing there, her eyes darting away, not daring to look at him. She struggled to get up, but because she didn't have enough strength, she couldn't get up. In the struggle, her hands were covered with broken glass shards.
Seeing him like this, Chu Liyue felt a sharp pain in her heart. She immediately came to her senses and picked him up from the ground.
Perhaps not wanting her to see him in such a disheveled state, Xiao Wujie resisted her embrace for the first time, struggling haphazardly and without any strategy.
When she put him on the hospital bed, he didn't snuggle into her arms as usual. Instead, he avoided her gaze and shrank to the other side of the bed.
Chu Liyue felt uneasy seeing this.
Xiao Wujie's appearance reminded her of when his health had just collapsed. Because of his strong will, he couldn't accept that he had gone from a healthy person to a sickly person who needed to be taken care of in everything.
