Chapter 74 The Gu Family's Absurdity, The Trip to Haijing Bay Comes to an End

The empty trash can was filled with wads of tissues.

Ai Ruoman had already been kicked out. The ward was filled with heat and an ambiguous atmosphere.

Xiao Wujie, covered in sweat, had a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. His pale face was flushed, and he buried his head in Chu Liyue's arms, looking somewhat helpless.

He was covered in a mess. Outside the closed door, Lu Zhufeng and Ai Ruoman acted as doormen, having already driven away several groups of medical staff who came to check on him and give him IV drips.

Chu Liyue carefully used a hot towel to clean the marks on his body. Seeing him huddled in her arms, looking embarrassed, she smiled and gently kissed his hair.

"Don't be ashamed."

She patiently and carefully cleaned Xiao Wujie up and then changed him into a clean and loose-fitting casual outfit.

As for why it wasn't a hospital gown, in Lu Zhufeng's words:

What a fucking troll!

I had just carried him to bed and tucked him in when there was another careful knock on the door.

Chu Liyue knew that Ai Ruoman was urging her to leave. She glanced at her phone, then gently stroked Xiao Wujie's face and coaxed him softly:

"Sweetie, you get some rest. I'm going out for a bit."

Xiao Wujie, who had been pretending to be dead with his eyes closed, immediately opened his eyes when he heard that she was leaving. He reached out and grabbed her sleeve, his eyes misty with tears.

She looked somewhat pitiful and was a bit clingy.

Chu Liyue gently kissed his thin lips twice, her voice tender and captivating.

"Be good, I'll be back soon."

She coaxed him a few more times, then turned and left.

Just when Xiao Wujie thought he would be spending the afternoon alone in his room, a guest arrived at his hospital room at just the right time.

Wearing a white silk shirt, Gu Junci walked into the ward carrying a bouquet of carnations.

"I originally wanted to buy a fruit basket, but I heard that Miss Chu had all the seasonal fresh fruits from all over the country shipped here without missing a single one."

"So I brought a bouquet of flowers. I don't know if you'll like them?"

As soon as she entered, she made a light joke, then sat down gracefully on the chair by the bed and placed the fragrant carnations on the bedside table.

Although she still wore a polite smile and looked as shrewd and capable as ever, Xiao Wujie still keenly noticed the weariness hidden between her brows.

And a string of black Buddhist prayer beads on her slender, white wrist.

In his memory, Gu Junci was not a person who revered gods and Buddhas or feared ghosts and spirits...

His eyes flickered slightly, but he simply smiled and nodded.

"I heard you're leaving today, so I came to say goodbye. You look quite well."

Gu Junci chuckled lightly, though a hint of surprise lingered in his eyes.

The shock Xiao Wujie gave her that night was so great that she couldn't help but wonder if it was really a power that humans could possess.

She now fully understood why Lin Qingyi, despite her extraordinary talent, was willing to silently stay behind him.

But was what was revealed that night truly the full strength of the person before us?

She had no answer in her heart.

The person in front of her felt like a bottomless pit; it seemed that no one could see through his seemingly gentle exterior and discover what secrets he held.

"Thank you for your concern, Sister Gu. I'm doing fine here. I wonder how things are going on your end?"

Xiao Wujie replied with his usual gentle smile.

Upon hearing this, Gu Junci's expression froze for a moment, his gaze trembled slightly, and he fell into a brief silence.

After a while, he lowered his eyes, and slightly tugged at the corner of his mouth, saying:

"Everything has been taken care of..."

Seeing the complicated expression on her face, Xiao Wujie understood that she had most likely gotten the answer she hadn't gotten from Gu Hengsheng that night.

Gu Junci did receive an answer, and as she had expected, the answer was unacceptable to her.

These past few days have probably been the most agonizing days of her life.

When she returned to the Gu family with Gu Hengsheng's body, the entire Gu family was in an uproar.

The world is like a game of chess, and people are the pieces.

What appears to be a chaotic and unrelated mess is actually intricately intertwined and interconnected.

One move placed on the center point activates the entire board.

With Gu Hengsheng gone from his position as the Heavenly Origin Master, the outcome of this game is now decided.

She found Grandpa Gu and voiced her questions. Grandpa Gu remained silent for a long time, and finally told her that he would let her know everything the next day.

When she saw Grandpa Gu again the next day, he was already lying peacefully in bed, without breathing at all.

The old butler, who had served the old man for many years, handed Gu Junci an envelope, saying that the old man had instructed that it should only be given to Gu Junci on the day of his westward journey.

The letter explained everything Gu Junci wanted to know, and also revealed many things that the old man had found difficult to say when he was alive.

It turns out that Gu Hengsheng and her father were both sons of Old Master Gu, but they were not born of the same mother.

Gu Hengsheng's mother was the first wife of Old Master Gu. Although it was a marriage arranged by the families and their feelings for each other were not deep, they made a vow of lifelong commitment in front of the heads of both families.

Grandpa Gu originally thought that he would simply guard this family business and live out the rest of his life thereafter.

However, in this chaotic world, the word "fate" is the most unfathomable.

A chance encounter, an absurd night—the classic tale of a domineering CEO falling in love with a Cinderella unfolds in Mr. Gu's life.

Despite holding a high position and already having a wife, Mr. Gu fell hopelessly in love with Mrs. Gu Junci, who came from an ordinary background.

Despite his family's objections, he had Gu Junci's father with Gu Junci's grandmother.
