Before long, Fei Yan came hurriedly from outside the palace, her steps unsteady and her face somewhat pale. When she saw the clothes on me and Liu Lieyu, she was stunned for a moment and quickly knelt down to pay her respects, "Greetings, Eastern Emperor's Consort."

I lowered my eyes and took a sip of tea. When I looked up at Fei Yan, she seemed like a completely different person in just over a month.

"Fei Yan, why haven't I seen you in the Council Hall lately?"

I thought Liu Lieyu would say something gentle and considerate, but to my surprise, his first words were, "Why did you skip work without reason?" This is somewhat similar to You.

Fei Yan was taken aback for a moment, then knelt down with a thud and clasped her hands in a fist and said, “Reporting to the Eastern Emperor, I have been feeling unwell recently, so I am recuperating at home.”

I kept my teacup close to my hand, concealing most of my expression, and turned my head to look at Liu Lieyu's expression.

"Not feeling well?" Liu Lieyu narrowed his long, narrow eyes, looked Fei Yan up and down, and said indifferently, "Is it because you're not feeling well, or do you not want to work?"

Fei Yan's body stiffened, and she raised her head with a trembling expression, a hint of panic in her eyes. "This subordinate had no such intention."

Suddenly, a scent of wine wafted into my nose. I sniffed and realized it was coming from Fei Yan's direction. Was Fei Yan just drinking?

I put down my teacup, stood up, and slowly walked to Fei Yan. Fei Yan saw a hint of annoyance flash across my eyes.

I chuckled softly and bent down to help Fei Yan up. "Fei Yan, get up quickly."

As I approached Fei Yan, I took a closer sniff and, sure enough, there was a hint of alcohol mixed in with the incense on her body. I guessed that things had happened suddenly, so she had just washed up and changed her clothes before rushing over.

"Xin'er, come back." Liu Lieyu waved to me.

I nodded, sat back down in my chair, picked up the teacup again, and took small sips.

Zi Teng was right; Fei Yan was indeed depressed, spending her days drinking to drown her sorrows and even driving away all the palace servants.

"Fei Yan," Liu Lieyu called out, then paused before continuing, "I know you are suffering inside. If that's the case, why don't you leave Guixu? Perhaps that will help you resolve your inner conflict."

My hand, which was holding the teacup, froze. I looked at Liu Lieyu in surprise. I only wanted to show off my affection in front of Fei Yan to provoke her, I didn't mean for Fei Yan to leave! If Fei Yan leaves, who will help me?

Liu Lieyu really doesn't follow the rules. Yesterday he said he couldn't just kick Fei Yan out, but what happened today?

Fei Yan was taken aback by his words, then gave a cool smile and turned to look at me, "What does Lord Donghuang mean? Does he intend to expel Fei Yan from Guixu?"

Holy crap, why is Fei Yan looking at me like that? Does she think I stirred things up? Sister, it really wasn't me.

I glanced at Liu Lieyu, almost saying a word to remind him not to let Fei Yan leave, and to comfort her.

Liu Lieyu looked indifferently at Fei Yan kneeling on the ground with his narrow eyes. "Fei Yan, as the High Priest of Guixu, you hold an important position and are the second-in-command after me. I helped you to this position, not so that you could spend your days in despair and drinking. I thought I had made myself clear last time, but you are still stubbornly unrepentant."

Fei Yan gave Liu Lieyu a deep look, her gaze like that of a devout believer looking up at their god. Fei Yan bowed deeply, and her resolute voice rang out, "Fei Yan knows her mistake. From now on, she will never touch a drop of alcohol. She will die for Guixu and Donghuang and will never have any improper thoughts."

Seeing that Fei Yan readily admitted her mistake, I thought that Liu Lieyu probably wouldn't send Fei Yan away anymore, and I finally felt relieved.

Fei Yan, you can't be without ulterior motives. If you're gone, how can I seduce you into helping me escape from Liu Lieyu?
