"You" withdrew her gaze, turned her head to look at Liu Lieyu, "They are all stunningly beautiful, with captivating charm."
Liu Lieyu propped his head up and pointed, and then two or three more dancers came forward and surrounded "You".
I silently munched on my fruit, completely baffled as to what Liu Lieyu was up to.
Throughout the banquet, I ate quite a bit of fruit. To my left, the people from Guixu were already completely drunk, and the scene was filled with all sorts of laughter.
I'm full of fruit, and the same old shows on stage are really boring.
"Liu Lieyu, I want to go back." I put down the fruit in my hand and said to Liu Lieyu who was next to me.
"You want to go back already?" Liu Lieyu squinted, seemingly unwilling to let me leave. "You're cooped up in the palace all day, shouldn't you come out for some fresh air?"
You know I'm locked up in the palace by you every day, I thought resentfully.
Liu Lieyu pretended not to see my resentful expression and put his arm around me, saying, "Stay a little longer." As he spoke, Liu Lieyu's gaze was still fixed on "You" below the stage.
I followed Liu Lieyu's gaze and roughly understood why he didn't want me to leave. Wasn't he deliberately keeping me here to annoy me?
I lowered my eyes, no longer looking at the audience or eating fruit, and just sat there blankly, my mind already wandering to distant places.
After a long while, Liu Lieyu noticed that I didn't show the expression he wanted to see, and perhaps he also felt it was pointless, so he stood up and said, "Let's go."
I quickly got up and followed Liu Lieyu out of the banquet.
Behind them, the shouts of farewell echoed, "Respectfully bidding farewell to the Eastern Emperor and his consort."
I followed Liu Lieyu out of the council hall. The sky above was dark, with countless stars and a crescent moon.
I looked up and saw the bright moonlight shining down on the earth with a faint, cold glow.
Liu Lieyu suddenly grabbed my hand and walked beside me.
"Xin'er," Liu Lieyu suddenly called to me.
I turned my head to look at Liu Lieyu. The smell of alcohol on Liu Lieyu slowly dissipated in the cool night breeze. His face was still flushed, but his eyes were bright as he looked at me, though there was an indescribable sorrow in them.
“Xin’er, it’s been a long time since we’ve taken a walk hand in hand like this.”
I glanced down at Liu Lieyu's hand, which was tightly gripping mine. If it weren't for the fact that I couldn't break free from Liu Lieyu's hand, I wouldn't have let him hold me like that.
"Xin'er, can you tell me why, why everything changed after I woke up?" Liu Lieyu's eyes were filled with uncontrollable sorrow, and he murmured, "If you had known this would happen, why did you save me? You might as well have let me die."
I looked away from Liu Lieyu's sorrowful eyes. What Liu Lieyu was talking about was what happened before I transmigrated. You threatened the original owner of this body with Liu Lieyu in order to make me marry him.
Thinking about it this way, Liu Lieyu is really pitiful. Originally, the two of them were in love, but then I came, and everything changed.
"Xin'er, why?" Liu Lieyu suddenly stood in front of me, grabbing my arms with both hands and forcing me to look at him.
I had to look up at Liu Lieyu. After staring at him for a long time, I still didn't know how to explain. What could I say? Should I tell him that it was because I wasn't the original Nv Xin? My life would definitely be in danger, and if You knew, she wouldn't let me off the hook.
"Xin'er, say something." Liu Lieyu grabbed my shoulder, his fingers digging into my flesh, and a sharp pain shot through my arm.
I winced in pain, "Let me go."
Liu Lieyu smiled sadly and let go of me. "It's okay, as long as you're by my side."
"My body is beside you, but my heart is not. What use is my body to you?"
Liu Lieyu, however, reverted to his carefree demeanor, holding my hand with one hand. Hearing my question, he turned his head, his handsome eyes crinkling, and gave me an ambiguous smile, "It has many uses, shall we try it later?"
My face flushed red, I was both angry and scared. My loose tongue just keeps saying the wrong things.
Liu Lieyu laughed and then pulled me toward his palace.
Three or four days have passed since I last saw You in the palace, and I am increasingly convinced that it was truly an illusion.
I sat dejectedly under the palace corridor. Liu Lieyu still wouldn't let me go out, so I could only look at a small patch of sky outside from there. I didn't know how long I would be locked up.
"Xin'er." I was idly throwing stones under the eaves when I suddenly heard a familiar voice. I trembled. There was no mistake, it was You's voice.
"You?" I murmured softly, looking around, but there wasn't a single person in sight.
"Xin'er, come in first."
Upon hearing this, I got up and stepped into the hall. I looked around but still couldn't find You. Could it be another hallucination?
Unexpectedly, as I turned around, I bumped into a solid chest. I looked up and saw You's face appear before me.
"Ouch!" I pinched myself. "Ouch! Am I dreaming?"
She chuckled and pulled me to pinch her own hand, "Silly girl! Of course it's not a dream."
"But, but..." I stammered, having a bellyful of questions I wanted You to answer.
"What's wrong? Tell me slowly." You smiled and patted my head, then excitedly told me some good news, "Xin'er, I can go and rescue Feng Su tonight. I've arranged everything. Let's go together."
"Really?" I couldn't help but feel overjoyed.
"Mm." Seeing that I was happy, You couldn't help but smile as well. "I know you can't bear to leave Feng Su behind. I will bring Feng Su to you tonight. Now you can leave with me without worry."
"Tonight?" I suddenly felt like the world was in a surreal state. After a long while, I asked again, "What if Liu Lieyu stays with me tonight? You should take Feng Su out first."
“He won’t show up,” You said with absolute certainty.
Why?
"Luo will be dragging Liu Lieyu along tonight."
"Lota?" I asked, a little worried. "Is Lota okay? What if we get discovered?"
"Don't you trust me to do things?"
I recalled Luo's unusual behavior at the banquet that day; I never expected that Luo would actually come to help me.
"By the way, You. Why was there another version of you at the banquet to welcome Luo?" I voiced my question. "At the time, I thought you wouldn't show up, but when I saw the other version of you, I was shocked. Was it an act?"
“It wasn’t me.” You shook her head.
"How could that be?" My mind was completely blank. "Could there be two of you?"
I carefully observed Youyi, and yes, it was a physical entity. The one at the banquet that day must have been one too. Even if I couldn't tell, how could Liu Lieyu not be able to?
"You, what exactly is going on?" I was completely confused and tugged at You's sleeve, eager for an answer.
