53

After I changed my clothes and pushed open the door, I saw a young female demon with shallow cultivation standing there. She had delicate features and her fluffy ears hadn't faded yet, which added to her cuteness and playfulness.

"Qingyan greets the young master." Qingyan saw me freeze for a moment, a hint of amazement flashing in her eyes, and blushed as she bowed slightly.

I naturally saw Qingyan's reaction. It seems my outfit was quite successful. I was secretly pleased and nodded slightly without changing my expression.

Qingyan didn't say anything more along the way, just quietly led the way. Xiaogua accompanied me, while Xiaohua stayed in the courtyard to do some chores.

I followed Qingyan around, and every now and then I encountered some little demons who would bow slightly when they saw me. The etiquette of the servants in the city lord's mansion is really thorough, almost as good as Haidilao.

"Young Master, we've arrived." Qingyan stopped at the entrance of the courtyard where I had been last time. The difference was that last time I came secretly, but this time I came openly.

I strode into the courtyard, where another little female demon led me to a pavilion. "Young master, this way."

Man Jiao'er sat in the pavilion. The abyss was always dark, and many powerful demons liked to fill their residences with luminous pearls to illuminate them. This courtyard, however, only had a few luminous pearls that were not too bright.

When I approached Man Jiao'er, I felt as if I had to lighten my steps, afraid of disturbing this beauty who was more beautiful than a fairy. The Heavenly Palace is never short of beauties, but even someone as used to seeing them as I am has to admit Man Jiao'er's beauty.

"You've come." Man Jiao'er turned around and smiled slightly at me, as if we were old friends who had known each other for many years.

"Hmm." I sat opposite Man Jiao'er and asked softly, "How is Miss Man?"

Man Jiao'er lowered her eyes and didn't answer my question. Then she looked up at me and said softly in a voice as soothing as a mountain stream, "You shouldn't have gotten involved in this mess. Yue Jiao is not as easy to deal with as you think."

I blinked. "If Yuejiao comes back and still insists on taking you away, will you go with him?"

Man Jiao'er was slightly taken aback upon hearing this and said with a wry smile, "Young master is joking. My Man family and Yue Jiao are irreconcilable enemies. How could I go with him?"

"But I see you still have feelings for Yue Jiao?" That day on the stage, I saw the expression that Man Jiao'er inadvertently showed after Yue Jiao left. It was an expression that only someone deeply in love would have. If I don't find out Man Jiao'er's attitude towards Yue Jiao, I can't help her.

“I…” Man Jiao’er tried to speak but couldn’t. She then said, “I can’t let him go. I still like him now, but I will never be with him. He deceived me, lied to me, hurt my people, and even almost killed my father. How can I be with him? I would rather die.”

Man Jiao'er's answer surprised me; I thought she would deny that she still had feelings for Yue Jiao.

"So you committed suicide yesterday?" I sighed. "If what you just said is true, I'm willing to help your Man clan get rid of Yuejiao."

"Why?" Man Jiao'er asked, somewhat surprised.

"I can't stand scumbags like Yuejiao who bully girls."

“But…” Man Jiao’er hesitated. “Yue Jiao is not someone that ordinary people can deal with. Although your magic power is unfathomable, you are only one person. Yue Jiao has the entire Qingcheng as his backing, and even the support of the Sun and Moon Lord. Young Master, I can’t drag you down with me.”
