Chapter 279

Liu Lieyu's sinister voice rang in my ears, "This Lady Jun looks remarkably like my wife, and I couldn't help but take a second look."

Damn it, this Liu Lieyu is a complete freak, especially when he's standing next to me, I always feel like he's about to go berserk at any moment.

Fortunately, it wasn't far from the banquet venue; it was just a short walk away.

I breathed a sigh of relief; once I sat down, Liu Lieyu wouldn't be so close to me anymore.

The banquet was held in the same place as the banquet held for the previous delegation, and everything at the banquet had been arranged in advance.

Food, wine, and waiters had been waiting for a long time. Our group entered in a large crowd, and the quiet hall instantly became lively. Everyone found their seats and sat down, with two waiters behind each guest.

You and I sat in the main hall, in almost the same positions as before. You sat to my left and blocked Liu Lieyu's view, so I could not see Liu Lieyu at all. When I looked to my left, I could only see You's profile.

This design is so thoughtful! I looked at You with more eagerness. You knew I didn't want to see Liu Lieyu, so she used this method to ensure my safety while keeping me by her side, without letting me see Liu Lieyu.

"It's been many years, let me toast you, brother," Liu Lieyu said in a deep voice, raising his glass.

You did not answer, but simply picked up the wine glass and drank it all in one gulp.

Liu Lieyu brought only a small number of people with him on this visit; according to You, it was no more than twenty or thirty.

However, in the battle between ancient gods, numbers alone are useless. Thousands upon thousands of soldiers are nothing more than ants in the eyes of the ancient gods and can be wiped out in an instant.

A banquet is naturally incomplete without song and dance performances.

Because Youti shielded me from most of Liu Lieyu's view, the banquet wasn't as terrifying as I had imagined.

The graceful dancers in the main hall were carefully selected from all over the abyss, each having undergone rigorous selection processes.

This time the reception was much grander than the last time a delegation was received, but I had no interest in watching the performances, and the food I usually enjoyed tasted bland now.

You previously mentioned that once Liu Lieyu arrived, he wouldn't be able to leave. I wonder if You is planning to tamper with the banquet...

Inside the main hall, the music of stringed instruments filled the air, dancers swayed gracefully, and ministers chatted amongst themselves, creating an atmosphere of peace and joy.

You rested one hand on the armrest to support her head, while the other hand rested on her knee, her fingers tapping lightly. Her eyes were fixed ahead, as if she were deep in thought.

“Brother, you have been missing for many years, and the people of Guixu miss you very much.” Liu Lieyu’s unique voice pierced through the strings and the noisy crowd, clearly reaching my ears.

"Is that so?" You looked up at Liu Lieyu's direction and glanced at the ministers of Guixu. "I don't recognize any of the subordinates you brought today."

Liu Lieyu is utterly shameless. Most of the people of Guixu surrendered to Liu Lieyu after Dijun's death, while those who refused to submit were long ago purged by him.

Liu Lieyu's voice, tinged with laughter, came through: "If you return to the Ruins with me, you'll meet many more people."

"No need."

"Guixu is our base camp, our home."

I don't need to look at Liu Lieyu to imagine the smug look on his face when he said those words.

Does he think we're all fools? Who would go back after finally escaping from the Ruins of Guixu?

"No." You suddenly turned around, looked at my hand that was supporting my head, and put it down. "Home is where my wife is."

"My brother and sister-in-law are truly loving," Liu Lieyu said, and then said no more.

Faced with You's sudden confession, my face turned slightly red.

Upon seeing this, the officials below the stage all spoke up to congratulate me and You, spouting phrases like "forever and ever" and "perfect match."

Upon hearing this, You smiled and looked at the ministers below the stage who were offering their congratulations. "Come on, bottoms up." You picked up the wine glass on the table, raised it forward, and swallowed it all in one gulp.

Time passed by, and the banquet gradually came to an end.

In the past, when You and I attended similar banquets, we would always leave early. But today, You showed no sign of leaving. I lowered my eyes. Was You really going to make your move today?

Feng Su has not shown up yet, and it is unknown where You has arranged for her to go.

"Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Sun and Moon. We will take our leave now."

"Okay." You nodded slightly.

The Guixu forces, led by Liu Lieyu, all rose and took their leave.

Liu Lieyu walked at the front of the group. When he reached the entrance of the main hall, he suddenly turned around and stared at me with sharp eyes.

I suddenly met Liu Lieyu's sharp gaze and felt a little uneasy, but You, who was beside me, gave me a constant source of strength, giving me the courage to look back at Liu Lieyu.

Seeing that I showed no fear, Liu Lieyu smiled strangely, then turned away and disappeared into the darkness.

“Let’s go too.” You stood up and reached out her hand to me.

"Okay." I placed one hand in You's palm and slowly stood up.

I walked slowly beside You, step by step.

"Isn't this outfit a bit inconvenient?" You looked down at my complicated clothes.

"There are some."

After a moment of contemplation, he spoke, "Let's change it."

"Huh? Now?" I was a little confused. I looked around. Although we had already entered the inner hall and there was no one around, I still had some psychological barriers to changing clothes outside.

"Hmm." You nodded slightly. "You definitely won't be able to handle being dressed like this when we go to deal with Liu Lieyu later."

When I heard that You was going to cause trouble for Liu Lieyu, I immediately got excited and stopped worrying about being shy. All my psychological barriers disappeared.

"I'll change now." After saying that, I took off all my clothes and changed into a simple outfit.

"Is this okay?" I asked, lifting the hem of the clothes I had just changed into.

“Okay, let’s go.” You pulled me along, and the next second we appeared in the outer hall.

I glanced around. This was indeed the outer hall, but I had never been here before.

You and I stood on the rooftop, below which were neatly planned houses, row upon row, orderly and quiet, with beads specially inlaid along the roadside for lighting.

Suddenly, I heard voices coming from below. I listened carefully and realized that it was the Guixu army that had just left.

I held my breath, afraid of being discovered.

Seeing my nervous expression, You couldn't help but laugh, "Why are you so nervous?"

When I heard You make a sound, my instinctive urge was to cover her mouth, and that's exactly what I did.

Unexpectedly, Yu laughed even more happily when I covered her mouth.

"What are you doing? They'll find out if you don't." I whispered in You's ear as she kept laughing uncontrollably.
