Chapter 283

Liu Lieyu dodged You's attack by slightly tilting his head.

You's attack was just a test of Liu Lieyu. Seeing that Liu Lieyu dodged it, You was not angry and quickly launched another attack.

This time, You's attack was much more fierce than the last. Liu Lieyu put away his smile and prepared for battle.

Liu Lieyu barely dodged You's attack, but did not attack You proactively. He simply stood there watching You smile. Liu Lieyu's smile was definitely not a kind smile, but a smile that sent chills down one's spine.

Strangely, You did not actively attack Liu Lieyu. She just stood there watching him. However, the way she walked and the tense muscles in her body proved that she was in a state of high alert.

From my line of sight, I happened to see the purple veins bulging on the back of You's hand. I slowly raised my head and looked up at Liu Lieyu, who was standing not far away opposite me. Just then, Liu Lieyu's slender eyes were looking at me.

Those eyes! They immediately reminded me of the slender eyes that filled my surroundings in my dream. It was definitely, definitely Liu Lieyu playing tricks on me!

My disgust for Liu Lieyu intensified. My hand, gripping the dagger, was covered in a fine sheen of sweat. I glared back defiantly, ready to launch an attack at any moment.

You also saw the way Liu Lieyu looked at me. You moved so fast that she almost teleported in front of Liu Lieyu, and her hands flew as she punched Liu Lieyu's face.

Liu Lieyu reacted extremely quickly, dodging You's attack in an instant.

Seeing that close combat was ineffective, You unleashed her magic, sending a ball of light containing immense energy rapidly toward Liu Lieyu. Liu Lieyu merely dodged, pulling out a familiar mirror as he did so. "Nüxin, you can't escape. Wait for me to come and get you." Liu Lieyu looked at me sinisterly, his smile gradually turning grotesque.

The ball of light that You fired was about to hit Liu Lieyu, but the next second I was greatly disappointed.

Liu Lieyu's figure vanished without a trace through the mirror, while the dark light ball struck the mirror before it could dissipate.

"Crack, shatter, crack." That was the sound of a mirror breaking.

Liu Lieyu vanished right before our eyes, leaving only shards of glass scattered on the ground.

Yu and I remained silent for a long time. Yu stared at the shards of glass on the ground, seemingly lost in thought.

“This mirror is the mirror of nothingness,” I said slowly, as the pleasure before me shattered like broken glass on the ground.

"Hmm." You's deep voice echoed in the empty room.

My mental state suddenly collapsed. Why? Why do I always think a wonderful life is just around the corner? But every single time! Every single time! Every single time, Liu Lieyu has to come out and sabotage things. Why is he so persistent? Can't he just leave me alone?!

I suddenly burst into tears.

"Xin'er..." You turned around when she heard me crying. You's face was hidden in the darkness. Although I couldn't see You's face clearly, I knew that You's mood was no better than mine.

I looked up abruptly and questioned, "If we had killed Liu Lieyu when we imprisoned him, none of this would have happened today."

You's face remained hidden in the darkness, and my questions went unanswered. In the silent room, I could only hear You's slow, drawn-out breathing.

"Xin'er, you promised me you would spare Liu Lieyu's life."

It was that same phrase again. I don't know what happened, but I suddenly exploded!

"Why! Youyuan, tell me why! Liu Lieyu treated us like this, why should we still be kind to him? Can't you see? As long as he's alive, he'll never let us go!"

I screamed hysterically. This was the first time I had argued with You since I came into this world, and the first time I had been so crazy in front of You.

You remained silent in response to my roars, which drove me even more crazy. It felt like I was the only one performing a one-man show, receiving no response whatsoever.

"Say something!"

You silently took a step forward, wanting to hug me, but I dodged away. I stared straight into You's eyes, which were not as bright as usual; the light in them seemed to be obscured by mist.

"Xin'er." You stepped forward to pull me, but I shook him off. "You Yuan, tell me why? After everything we've been through, do you still consider him a brother? Do you know how he treated me? Do you even remember how he treated you?"

You's lips moved slightly, as if she wanted to explain something, but in the end she closed her mouth and said nothing.

I pounded on You's chest frantically, screaming like a madwoman, "Say something!"

Humor silently endured my barrage of punches; my madness was all witnessed by You.

I saw my own madness reflected in You's eyes, my face contorted, my expression insane. Suddenly, I collapsed onto the bed like a deflated balloon.

You then squatted down in front of me, took my hand and whispered, her tone almost pleading, "Xin'er, Liu Lieyu can't be killed. We can imprison him or cripple him, anything is fine, as long as we spare his life."

"Why?" I calmed down a lot, and looked at You calmly, no longer in a frenzied tone.

He remained silent.

"Can't you tell?"

Silence.

"Okay, okay, okay." I said "okay" three times with a smile, but then tears welled up in my eyes. "If you won't go, I'll go by myself."

After I finished speaking, I walked out, but after only a few steps, a sharp pain shot through the back of my neck, and I fainted.

Before I fainted, I saw You's handsome face.

You, Yu...

Before I could even speak, I was plunged into darkness.

When I woke up, the room was still the familiar room, but there was no one there. Even You was nowhere to be seen. My gaze shifted to the floor, where the broken glass had been cleaned up, as if nothing had happened.

I rubbed my head, and all my memories from before I lost consciousness came flooding back.

How could I have become so crazy? Thinking back to my previous actions and the madness with which I questioned You, I can hardly believe it. Was that really me?

No wonder the rendezvous knocked me unconscious. How could I have been so shameless as to say I wanted to settle scores with Liu Lieyu? Wasn't I just walking into the lion's den?

I rubbed the back of my neck, rolled out of bed, and decided that no matter what, I should go and apologize to You first, since I was impulsive yesterday.

As soon as I got to the door, I found that it wouldn't open at all. How could that be? I tried to open it with all my might, but it was no use. The door didn't budge.

My temper flared up again, and I kicked the door a few times. Even if the door was broken, shouldn't I have been able to kick it open? But the door remained firmly in place, and my feet were the ones that hurt from kicking it.

No way? I vaguely sensed something was wrong, so I took a few steps back, preparing to use my magic to open the door.

The mana ball was created in my hand and gradually grew stronger. I looked at the door in front of me and threw the mana ball forward with all my might.
