Luo has been gone for a long time, and I'm still sitting in my chair, lost in thought.
How did it get like this? I scratched my head in frustration, and suddenly an idea came to me.
I stayed behind because I was worried that the Man clan would be implicated by me and be charged with the serious crime of treason. If I harmed the Man clan in a hostile manner, it would no longer be considered a serious crime of treason.
"Yes, that's right." I jumped up and laughed, startling Xiao Gua who was standing to the side.
"Young master, are you alright?" Xiao Gua asked, looking at me with concern after seeing me suddenly become cheerful despite my long frown for the past few days.
"It's nothing." I patted Xiaogua's shoulder and said casually. But even so, the outside world might not believe it, especially with Yuejiao who is eyeing the Man clan. Whether the Man clan is colluding with the enemy or is completely unaware probably depends entirely on what Yuejiao said to the Sun and Moon Lord.
Sigh, it seems we're back to square one. Is there really no way to have the best of both worlds?
"Young master, the young lady has arrived," Xiao Gua suddenly reminded me.
I also sensed footsteps approaching outside the door, and Man Jiao'er's charming figure drew nearer. "I heard from the little demons that you've been feeling down these past few days, young master?"
"Miss Man, you've arrived." Seeing such a beauty as Man Jiao'er eased my gloomy mood a little. Indeed, looking at beautiful women helps to lift one's spirits.
"Hmm." Man Jiao'er nodded gently and sat down opposite me, her eyes filled with deep concern. "Young Master, are you troubled by something because of me?"
"No." I shook my head and gave Manjiao a reassuring smile.
"Alas." Man Jiao'er sighed, "Young master, there's no need for this. I can see that you are no ordinary person. Since you already have someone you love, our marriage, which was just a game, is off. You don't need to worry about me; you can leave with peace of mind."
I was surprised that Man Jiao'er could see through my thoughts so clearly. Had I really been too obvious these past few days?
I laughed to cover it up and then joked, "Miss Man, are you trying to kick me out? I guess I'm that annoying in the City Lord's Mansion."
“Young master, you know perfectly well that this is not what I meant.” Man Jiao’er shook her head, her attention undiverted.
"Sigh." I sighed and slumped onto the table. "Okay, I've been a bit annoyed lately, but it has nothing to do with you, I just..." But I couldn't think of any other excuse to fool Man Jiao'er. And how could I possibly deceive someone as clever as her? "Can you tell me about your story with Yue Jiao?"
"Why is Young Master suddenly interested in this?" Man Jiao'er was taken aback when she heard Yue Jiao's name.
"It's too boring staying in the city lord's mansion. I want to hear some stories."
After a moment of contemplation, Man Jiao'er spoke, "My story with Yue Jiao isn't exactly a good one. It's just that a charming, willful, and fearless little demon girl went out to make her way in the world and encountered another man with ulterior motives."
I blinked. This story was far too simplistic. But if Manjiao didn't want to tell it, so be it. I didn't really want to hear the story anyway; I just wanted to change the subject.
"If you find the City Lord's Mansion boring, why don't I take you out for a stroll in Ling City?"
"Okay." I blew on the water in front of me, watching the water in the glass ripple.
Man Jiao'er glanced at the door. "It's too late today. Let's do it tomorrow. I'll come and wake you up tomorrow."
"Okay." I looked at Jiao'er's stunningly beautiful face and wanted to tell her my true identity, but I ultimately couldn't bring myself to speak.
