After the procession had been traveling for a day, my initial excitement and curiosity had completely vanished. Although the carriage was nice, confining me to this small space, whether sitting or lying down, made me feel like my body was protesting.
"How much longer?" I leaned out and asked the driver in front of me.
Without turning his head, the driver loudly replied, "Almost there."
Soon? How long is "soon"? I was about to ask again, but then I thought better of it and stuck my head back into the carriage, changing my posture to lean back.
Luo and Jinyu seemed quite calm and not in a hurry at all. To my surprise, Feng Su, who is usually impatient, didn't make a fuss. Hao was looking out the car window with great interest.
I sighed and thought to myself, "No wonder they are immortals and demons who have cultivated for many years, they are just different from people like me who have the mentality of a mere mortal at heart."
I crossed my legs and rested my head on my arm, wondering how much longer the driver would say it would take. I couldn't stand it for even a minute longer; I'd rather get off and walk myself.
"Young master, we've arrived," the coachman's rough voice came from outside.
"We're here?" I jumped up excitedly and looked out the window.
Sure enough, we arrived.
I immediately saw a golden light ahead, the city walls were tall and beautifully repaired, and rows of well-trained demon soldiers stood at the city gate. Each demon soldier wore silver armor that shone brightly. There were many towering pavilions in the city. This was the most luxurious city I had ever seen in the abyss. Compared with the Sun and Moon City in front of me, the towns I had seen before were like small villages.
"So beautiful, it's sparkly everywhere!" Hao exclaimed in amazement, his little mouth agape as he lay beside me.
"This is Sun and Moon City," Jin Yu said casually, standing lazily behind Hao.
"Jinyu, have you been here before?" I asked Jinyu, who seemed quite used to it.
"How could that be? I'm just a lowly demon, how could I have ever been to a place like this?" Jin Yu said with a laugh.
I glanced at Jinyu and said nothing more. When we first met, Jinyu said she was a lowly demon, but the more I looked at her, the less she seemed like one.
Jin Yu looked a little guilty when she met my gaze, and after a moment of hesitation, she looked away to tease Hao.
When Yuejiao's convoy entered the city, it passed through very smoothly. But I noticed that while we were entering the city, another group of demons waiting to enter had a very long queue. It seems that Yuejiao's status in Sun and Moon City is quite high, given how unimpeded he was.
Yuejiao's convoy finally stopped in front of a tall pavilion and courtyard, and I and the others dismounted one by one.
"It's too late today. We've been traveling all night. You should rest well first. We'll take you to see Lord Sun and Moon tomorrow."
"Okay." I nodded gently. We've already arrived in Sun and Moon City, so there's no rush.
"These are His Majesty's distinguished guests, please treat them well," Yue Jiao instructed the demons who were greeting us at the entrance.
"yes."
After looking around, Yue Jiao said goodbye to me, and his large convoy departed.
"Guests, please follow me," a well-dressed, middle-aged man approached us and said.
I nodded slightly and followed behind the man, with many servant demons waiting cautiously behind me.
"Guests, the rooms I have arranged for you are all connected, and the hot water you need for bathing has already been prepared. You can wash up and rest early, as you will be seeing our lord tomorrow."
"good."
As expected of Sun and Moon City, this mansion is of a much higher grade than the city lord's mansion in Spirit City.
