Volume 1 Chapter 49 What I Feel and Learn

Li Tian sighed and changed the subject: "Later, our country's vitality began to wither."

"In the late Song Dynasty, chastity archways appeared, which were a heavy ideological shackle."

"The clothes were pulled up, which showed that the people of our country were becoming more closed-minded, rigid and conservative. In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, there was also a maritime ban."

"When thoughts are restrained, vitality is restrained, and our country's national fortune begins to decline."

"At the same time, the West broke through two shackles, one was theocracy and the other was monarchy."

"There was a painter named Leonardo da Vinci who painted a picture called Mona Lisa's Smile. Some people say that Mona Lisa's Smile is so beautiful. This is actually nonsense. The reason why Mona Lisa's Smile is so famous is not because of how beautiful the person in the painting is, but because of its status in the history of thought and philosophy."

"Originally, paintings could only depict the Virgin Mary and angels, but Leonardo da Vinci chose a housewife as the subject of his painting, which shows that the West began to call out for human dignity and freedom."

"The gap in thinking was opened, and great progress was made. Whether it was culture or technology, the West left my country far behind."

"This ultimately led to a period of shameful invasion in our country's history, so by reading the poetry of the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, we can see the development of our country's national destiny."

"The above is what I feel and understand from the poetry of the heyday of the Tang Dynasty."

After the speech, the whole classroom fell silent, and everyone felt that they had not yet finished.

Only seeing the various beauties, sentence structures, and styles of the poetry of the Great Tang Dynasty is too superficial when compared with Li Tian’s feelings and insights. It is hard not to be convinced.

“Pah pah pah~”

There was applause.

Everyone then came to their senses and saw that it was Professor Guo who was applauding.

The teacher took the lead in applauding, so how could the students fall behind? They also applauded. Li Tian's insights deserved such applause.

"Li Tian, why did you come to my Chinese studies class?" Professor Guo was curious about Li Tian. He did not comment on Li Tian's feelings and insights, but his applause represented everything.

Li Tian said: "I graduated from high school, and it is a great regret that I did not get into college, so I want to experience college life. In addition, I am particularly interested in Chinese studies."

Of course he would not admit that he was trying to get close to Qiao Yuncai, otherwise they would not be able to become friends.

Graduated from high school?

Chen Zihang and the others felt even more embarrassed. They were actually outdone by a guy who had just graduated from high school. This was so humiliating.

Professor Guo then asked: "Then do you know what Chinese studies are?"

Li Tian nodded: "In a broad sense, national studies refer to the cultural heritage and academic records of China's past dynasties, including ancient Chinese history, philosophy, geography, politics, economics, as well as calligraphy and painting, music, Yixue, numerology, medicine, astrology, architecture, etc. In a narrow sense, national studies refer to ancient Chinese theories."

Professor Guo is now certain that Li Tian is really here to attend the class and is not in the same group as Qiao Yuncai.

"I'm sorry for describing you as a wolf with ulterior motives." As he said this, he walked out of the podium and bowed to Li Tian to apologize.

Li Tian quickly returned the greeting: "Professor Guo, you are too polite. You are the teacher and I am the student. How can a teacher bow to a student?"

To be honest, Professor Guo almost embarrassed him. If he really came to attend the Chinese studies class, he would have deserved it, but he didn't.

"No, I have to take off the wolf's hat too." Qiao Yuncai whispered to Li Tiandao.

Li Tian couldn't help but laugh: "How do I pick it?"

"Of course, just like you, I picked it based on my own strength." Qiao Yuncai said.

Li Tian raised his eyebrows and said nothing.

Professor Guo continued his lecture. Chinese culture is the essence of the country, and couplets are the essence of the country. He gave the first line of a couplet and asked the students to come up with the second line: "Look up at the sky, look up at the sky in vain, look up at the sky every day when you have time."

As soon as this couplet came out, the male and female college students in the classroom frowned and fell into deep thought.

"This first couplet has a source. According to legend, there was a scholar who had failed in the imperial examinations for many years. He failed again and returned home. He went to the Qianjiang River to climb the tower and gaze at the sky. In his pessimism and disappointment, he wrote this couplet on the wall of the tower. The difficulty of this first couplet lies in the word 'empty'. Here, the word 'empty' is both a noun and an adjective, and finally an adverb. It has three parts of speech and four meanings. The first part of the couplet is 'in the air', the second part is 'in vain', the third part is 'spare time', and the fourth part is 'empty'. If you want to come up with the second couplet, you must find a word with a similar part of speech to 'empty', and it must also conform to the principles of level and oblique rhymes and corresponding rhythms." Professor Guo explained the difficulty of this first couplet.

"Oh my god, this is too difficult."

"Yeah, I originally thought I could easily come up with a couplet, but after hearing what the professor said, I suddenly felt like my brain wasn't enough."

"No, that's not right. It's too difficult."

The boys and girls in the classroom shook their heads, expressing their helplessness.
