Before going to bed after returning home, Fu Yanci's eyes seemed to be glued to Jiang Nuan, fearing that if he was not careful, Jiang Nuan would lose her temper and do something stupid.
The strange behavior made Fu Yanli feel that there was something wrong with his brother's brain again. After Xiaobao and Yichen went upstairs, he decisively chose to speak directly.
"Brother, your eyes are on Jiang Xiaonuan. Can you please restrain yourself in front of children?"
Fu Yanci didn't say anything, but Fu Rong spoke first.
"Are you jealous of your brother?"
"I'm jealous of my brother?"
Fu Yanli jumped up and down when he heard this, yelling as if his heart had been touched.
"Why would I be jealous of my brother? He still hasn't caught up with Jiang Xiaonuan!"
Jiang Nuan listened to them joking about the things between her and Fu Yanci. She was rarely shy. Instead, she wiped her mouth, put down her bowl and chopsticks, and smiled slightly.
"I'm done eating. You guys take your time. I'll go upstairs first."
The dining table fell silent until Jiang Nuan's figure disappeared from the corridor on the second floor and walked into the room. Then Fu Yanli asked Fu Yanci cautiously.
"Brother, did you make Jiang Xiaonuan angry?"
"No."
"Then what happened to Jiang Xiaonuan?"
"I'm done eating too."
“…”
Fu Rong finished the last mouthful of rice and left the table silently, leaving Fu Yanli alone sitting at the table, puzzled.
What's wrong with these two people?
Late at night, when the cicadas in the trees had all rested, Jiang Nuan quietly got up, left a note on the dressing table, and tiptoed out of the Fu family's old house.
Jiang Nuan's car was not parked back in the garage of the Fu family's old house, but parked at a place farther away, as if she had already decided to leave tonight.
Jiang Nuan drove aimlessly on the street. When she came to her senses and looked at her surroundings, she realized that she had unknowingly driven back to Chengjia Village, where she grew up.
Jiang Nuan turned off the engine and got out of the car, walked into the yard, and casually sat on the swing that her master and Cheng Qianan had made for her when she was a child, swinging back and forth.
The air quality in the countryside is very good, and you can see a starry sky as soon as you look up. So many years have passed, and everything around them has changed. But Jiang Nuan looks at the starry sky and feels that nothing has changed.
She is still the child who loved to stare at the stars in her childhood.
Jiang Nuan knew from a young age that she was different from other children. They always scolded her for being an orphan who was picked up by a master, and she knew it herself.
Before being taken back to the Liang family, she had also looked forward to the care of her parents, and even fantasized about getting along well with her when she learned that she had an older sister.
It’s a pity that everything ended in vain.
Liang Sian's words made her feel like she had a chronic disease. The undetectable toxins corroded her soul bit by bit until it became her indelible nightmare.
Jiang Nuan leaned against the swing, letting the nightmare swallow her up bit by bit.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in a car. The windows were foggy over the stars. Jiang Nuan reached out to grab them, but as expected, she caught nothing.
She withdrew her hand awkwardly and turned to meet Fu Yanci's gentle gaze.
"woke up?"
"Why are you here?"
Jiang Nuan sat up awkwardly, straightened her hair, and looked at herself in the mirror, who obviously had been crying. Jiang Nuan seemed a little at a loss.
After all, she has always been lively, cheerful, enthusiastic and strong, but after crying, she instantly turned into a poor stray cat.
Jiang Nuan couldn't accept others seeing her vulnerable state.
"Would you like something to eat?"
"Um?"
Jiang Nuan looked at the strawberry-flavored cake in Fu Yanci's hand, feeling a little amused, but still politely took it.
"Thanks."
Jiang Nuan dug into the cake, eating it bite by bite, and tears began to fall unconsciously. At first, she cried silently, but later she couldn't help sobbing while eating the cake.
Fu Yanci didn't say anything, but just sat quietly beside Jiang Nuan to accompany her.
"Fu Yanci, why don't you say anything?"
Jiang Nuan quickly finished the cake, burped and asked.
"I'm waiting for you to say it."
Fu Yanci handed over the tissue at the right time and took the cake box from Jiang Nuan. Jiang Nuan didn't bother to be polite with Fu Yanci and continued to ask the next question without even saying thank you.
"How did you know I was here? Did you secretly send someone to follow me?!"
"No, I just tossed and turned in bed and couldn't sleep. There was a voice in my heart telling me to come here, so I came."
"What a ridiculous excuse."
Jiang Nuan couldn't help but sneer, but there was no extra vigilance in his eyes.
"Is that ridiculous? But what I said is true."
“Who would believe that…”
Jiang Nuan rubbed his eyes and muttered.
"Nuannuan, can you stay with me?"
"Because you know that I'm your childhood sweetheart?"
"No, after all, when I first met you, I said I wanted to be with you, didn't I? This has nothing to do with whether you are my childhood sweetheart or not."
Fu Yanci tucked the hair that fell on Jiang Nuan's cheek behind her ear, his movements gentle, as if he was handling fragile jewels.
"I like you, so I want to be with you. Whether you are Jiang Nuan or Cheng Mu."
"Do you mind if I have Xiaobao?"
Jiang Nuan stared at Fu Yanci blankly, her eyes wide open trying to see how much sincerity there was in Fu Yanci's eyes.
"So you mind that I have Yichen?"
"Nuannuan, you have to know that I like you as a person. It has nothing to do with Xiaobao and Yichen. This is a matter between us."
