Chapter 571 Where the Heart Belongs (2/2)

Su Miaomiao was outside helping to tidy up the banquet.

When they walked into the courtyard, they found Huo Wenbo sitting alone in a chair, staring blankly at the silver moon overhead.

The cold moonlight shone on him, and Su Miaomiao sensed the sadness emanating from him.

"Big brother." Su Miaomiao hesitated for a moment before walking up.

"Sorry, I'm a little tired. I'll sit down and take a break." Huo Minxue came back to his senses and apologized somewhat embarrassedly.

He was originally responsible for cleaning up the ribbons in the yard, but he's only swept half of them yet.

"It's okay, I'm tired too. I can rest for a while before continuing." Su Miaomiao sat down next to Huo Wenbo.

"If you're tired, go back and rest. Leave the rest to me," Huo Wenbo said gently.

Looking at Huo Wenbo, who was always thinking of her, Su Miaomiao felt an indescribable emotion welling up inside her.

"Big brother, now that even second brother is married, shouldn't you also consider your own life's important matters?" Su Miaomiao asked, pretending to be casual.

Upon hearing this, Huo Wenbo paused slightly, then smiled.

"My own affairs aren't in a rush; I want to get promoted right now."

"I'm not your mother, don't try to fool me with that. Does your company have a rule that you can't get promoted if you're married?" Su Miaomiao looked at him.

Huo Wenbo knew that his reason was untenable, but it was the only reason he could come up with.

Seeing Huo Wenbo fall silent again, Su Miaomiao felt a pang of heartache.

"Big brother, time always moves forward, and we should always look forward. Since the past is the past, we shouldn't dwell on it anymore," Su Miaomiao said slowly.

Only Su Miaomiao knew about Huo Wenbo's affair.

She also understood why Huo Wenbo had never shown any interest in getting married and starting a family for so long.

She also thought she should give him more time, that he would eventually move on from the past, but seeing him alone grieving under the moon, she suddenly realized that they might have been wrong.

Some people, once they take up residence in your heart, can never be driven out.

There was no way to let anyone else in.

"I know you might not believe me, but I haven't been dwelling on the past. I've always been moving forward." Huo Wenbo's lips curled into a slight smile.

"It's just that you all seem to think that I've only truly moved on from the past when I get married, but that's not the case."

"I think my life is great right now, and I don't think marriage is necessary. Like you, if you hadn't met Xiuyuan, would you have just married anyone?"

Su Miaomiao originally wanted to comfort Huo Wenbo, but now she was speechless after being stumped by his words.

Su Miaomiao looked at Huo Wenbo for a moment, and finally just let out a long sigh.

"Big brother, I just hope... you can be a little happier."

"I am very happy, really. I feel very fulfilled and satisfied every day now."

"Little sister, don't worry about me. I will live a good life. As for marriage and having children, I can't guarantee that, but if one day there really is someone who makes me think about it, I will definitely tell you." Huo Wenbo said each word slowly and deliberately, his expression extremely serious.

Su Miaomiao smiled and said, "Okay."

"Miao Miao." Just then, a familiar voice rang out behind the two of them.

Su Miaomiao turned around and saw Lu Xiuyuan.

"Miaomiao, the tables inside have all been cleaned up. Mom and Dad want us to go home first," Lu Xiuyuan said softly, standing not far away.

"Okay." Su Miaomiao stood up and looked down at Huo Wenbo beside her.

"Big brother, I'm leaving now."

"good."

Su Miaomiao smiled and walked towards Lu Xiuyuan.

Lu Xiuyuan reached out his hand to meet her, and the moment their fingers intertwined, Su Miaomiao felt as if she had found her place in life.

The future is uncertain, but happiness is within reach right now.

May we share this scene year after year, day and night!
