A dreamless night.
When Su Miaomiao woke up the next morning, there was no one else around her.
I stood up and pushed the door open, and saw Tang Chunlan squatting on the ground.
In front of him was a makeshift stove made of a few old bricks.
There was an old pot on the stove.
Something was bubbling in the pot, golden in color, and looked like corn.
"Miaomiao, you're awake. Take a rest first, and you can have breakfast later." Tang Chunlan noticed the gaze behind her, turned around, and saw that it was Su Miaomiao. A gentle smile immediately appeared on her face.
"Yeah." Su Miaomiao nodded and looked around again, "Where are the others?"
"Your grandparents are resting in the room, and your father took your three brothers to collect firewood." Tang Chunlan explained.
"Yeah." Su Miaomiao responded, then looked around.
It was similar to what she observed last night.
The cowshed here is on the outskirts of the village, about 200 meters away from the village.
It is morning now, and smoke is rising from the village in the distance. If you ignore the desolation around it, this place is not bad.
"Little sister, wake up." Just as Su Miaomiao's thoughts drifted away, a familiar voice came to her ears.
Su Miaomiao turned around and found that it was Huo Wenbo and the others who had returned.
Everyone held a small handful of firewood in their hands.
But the faces of the four of them looked a little haggard.
Only Tang Chunlan returned to her room last night, and no one knew where the four of them slept.
It seems that he is not asleep.
Su Miaomiao responded with a sound.
"It's time to have breakfast." Tang Chunlan also pushed the firewood out of the stove.
He picked up the bowl beside him and scooped out two bowls.
"Take these two bowls in to your grandparents first." Tang Chunlan instructed Huo Wenbo.
"䗽." Huo Wenbo took it and turned to go into the room behind him.
"Miaomiao, this is yours." Tang Chunlan filled another bowl and handed it to Su Miaomiao.
"Thank you." Su Miaomiao reached out to take it.
"Why are you being so polite to me? I'm your mother." Tang Chunlan wanted to cry again.
Her own daughter actually said thank you to her.
Huo Lingxiu had never said such a thing before.
Su Miaomiao felt a little helpless holding the bowl. Did she say something wrong again?
Why does Tang Chunlan have so many tears? It seems like she can never stop crying.
"Don't let the children laugh at you." Huo Jianguo took the spoon from Tang Chunlan's hand and served her a bowl.
"I'm useless." Tang Chunlan tried hard to hold back her tears.
Huo Jianguo didn't say anything else. He divided the remaining porridge into four portions and shared them with his three sons.
But Su Miaomiao could notice that the porridge of the three of them was much thinner than hers.
Especially Huo Jianguo himself, there was almost only soup in his mouth.
But he didn't show it and continued drinking from the bowl as usual.
Su Miaomiao looked at the bowl full of corn kernels and an indescribable emotion rose in her heart again.
But he didn't say anything and just drank it all.
They had just finished breakfast when they heard a sharp whistle.
A moment later, they saw a familiar person shouting at them from a distance.
"It's time to go up." It's the mountain antlers.
"Hey, we'll be there soon." Huo Jianguo quickly put down the bowl in his hand, stood up and took care of his three sons and prepared to go to school.
