Chapter 10 I'll give you three children
As the name suggests, a half-meat and half-vegetarian banquet means both meat and vegetables. The folks do not have to eat meat all year round, and drinking some meat-flavored soups and dishes will fill their stomachs with more oil and water.
The Shen family's meal consisted of meat mixed with cabbage, potatoes, radish and vermicelli. There was a bowl of meat on each table, accompanied by pickled vegetables, steamed corn bread, and a bottle of homemade sorghum wine.
This kind of meal is pretty good.
Old Mrs. Shen distributed two pounds of peanut crisps today. Peanut crisps are not biscuits, but candies, crushed waste sugar residues. They are very cheap at a few cents per pound, but the children were very happy to eat one each.
The children ate candy, the women ate vegetables, and the men drank wine and ate vegetables and broth. Everyone sat in the slightly cool breeze, drinking wine and the breeze for most of the day.
Jiang Wanwan listened to the noise outside and her stomach growled.
I’m so hungry…
She rubbed her belly.
The door suddenly opened, and Jiang Wanwan recognized Shen Xingjiang's footsteps through the veil: "Have you finished your meal?"
The veil was lifted and placed aside, and a bowl of hot noodle soup was handed to Jiang Wanwan. On the hand-rolled white noodles lay two golden fried eggs, two half-soft vegetables, and some chopped green onions. The noodle soup was milky white and exuded bursts of fragrance, which set off the golden eggs and the green vegetables, making it particularly appetizing.
Shen Xingjiang sat down on the kang, holding two large porcelain bowls. He blew on the noodle soup to cool it down, picked up a few noodles with chopsticks and fed them to Jiang Wanwan's lips. Just as Jiang Wanwan was about to eat, he took his hand back.
Jiang Wanwan glared at him in reproach: "What are you doing? I'm hungry."
She hadn't eaten the white noodles that she used to look down upon for several months. The smell of the noodles made her drool.
Shen Xingjiang's eyes were burning and frank: "The noodles are cooked. When you take a few bites later, I'll ask you whether they are raw or cooked. You have to say raw."
A blush appeared on Jiang Wanwan's face.
Asking whether the dumplings are "raw" or "cooked" is a local custom. Rich families will deliberately make a bowl of raw noodles dumplings in order to get the bride to say the word "raw" more often. The more she says, the more children she will have.
Jiang Wanwan grabbed the hem of her skirt and bit her plump lips: "Yeah."
Shen Xingjiang then fed her the noodles. Jiang Wanwan ate very politely, chewing slowly and carefully, slurping the noodles into her mouth, eating with her mouth closed, and only taking the next bite after she had finished.
Shen Xingjiang found it quite interesting: "It's rare that you didn't starve to death in the educated youth camp."
He had seen people fighting for food, even crazier than wild dogs.
His wife eats slowly, and she looks pretty good.
Jiang Wanwan swallowed the chewy noodles and took out a handkerchief she carried with her to wipe her mouth. The small white handkerchief was embroidered with pink butterflies, which looked lifelike.
"With you here, there's no way I'd starve to death. Don't think I don't know. You've been keeping an eye on me since the day I was beaten."
He knew his limits and wouldn't come close to her. He just quietly paid attention to her and helped her solve her problems.
Shen Xingjiang cut the egg into small pieces and fed it to her little by little. Jiang Wanwan ate the eggs, and her heart felt as if it was filled with honey.
No wonder he was able to achieve great things in the future, he learned quickly and carefully. Seeing that she ate slowly, he crushed the eggs.
But Jiang Wanwan guessed wrong about this. Shen Xingjiang was only gentle and meticulous towards her. His success... was won with his fists.
Jiang Wanwan ate half a bowl of rice, a few eggs and a small piece of vegetable and her stomach was full.
"I'm full, you can eat the rest."
Shen Xingjiang looked at her: "Are the noodles raw or cooked?"
Jiang Wanwan shyly looked to the side and showed him her delicate profile: "Raw, ahem, it's raw, it's raw!"
I originally wanted to say two, but I choked on my saliva and accidentally said three.
Jiang Wanwan didn't worry about how many children to have. It was just an old habit. When she got married, she would have as many children as she said. There was no one in the world who would run around the world just to have children.
Shen Xingjiang raised his lips in satisfaction and finished the remaining noodles. He ate quickly and drank the soup in just a few bites.
Jiang Wanwan looked at him with a smile, without any disdain at all.
In her previous life, she disliked Shen Xingjiang’s eating, and criticized him at the Shen family’s dinner table, saying that he was ruder than a savage. Not only that, she also didn’t allow Shen Xingjiang to touch her at night… Outside, she didn’t give Shen Xingjiang face many times, but Shen Xingjiang never got angry. He would behave in a stern manner and try not to anger her.
Sometimes Jiang Wanwan was particularly curious, what on earth did this person like about her?
After Shen Xingjiang finished eating, Jiang Wanwan gently wiped the corners of his lips with a handkerchief. Shen Xingjiang's eyes were dark, and he used all his strength to suppress the crazy plundering impulse running through his body.
"You sit here, I'll go and serve the dishes."
Jiang Wanwan felt a little sleepy, so she opened the quilt and lay down, thinking of taking a nap.
I slept until dusk, the sky was painted with ink, and stars hung in the night sky.
As the sun set, Shen Yejun rolled up his luggage and moved out of the west room. He moved into the old man and the old lady's room to sleep, leaving the third room for the newlyweds.
There are two rooms in the three houses. At night, only Jiang Wanwan and Shen Xingjiang are there.
Jiang Wanwan was sleeping soundly, her hair loose, her raven-black hair covering the red pillowcase, underneath which was a pattern of mandarin ducks embroidered with thick needles. Her face, as white and tender as a peeled egg, was left with several marks from the raised mandarin duck pattern. Jiang Wanwan frowned and turned over.
Turning over, the dancing firelight shone on her face. She frowned and slowly opened her eyes.
In her blurred vision, the room was dark, the light of the kerosene lamp illuminated the mottled earthen wall. The man leaned against the wall, his narrow and deep eyes looking in her direction, with a domineering and strong possessive desire surging in his eyes.
Jiang Wanwan was a little dazed. Her voice was nasal, as she had just woken up. It was soft and sticky, like steamed osmanthus cake, sweet and delicious.
“Chen Xingjiang, why did you come to our educated youth site?”
She was really confused and forgot that she was already married.
Shen Xingjiang watched her get up. The neckline of her skirt tilted a little, revealing her delicate and small collarbone. Her black, smooth satin-like hair was scattered on her body, and her long hair fell along the ups and downs of her waistline, which was pure and seductive.
Shen Xingjiang’s throat was itchy, and his whole body was emitting dangerous information.
Jiang Wanwan was stunned after she finished speaking. No...that’s not right, she was married.
Now is... her and Shen Xingjiang's wedding night!
"!"
When did it get dark?
Jiang Wanwan's mind flickered for a moment, and Shen Xingjiang had already come closer. His strong arms wrapped around Jiang Wanwan's slender and soft waist, pressing her down on the kang. In her nervous and frightened eyes, he lowered his head and captured her lips...
…
“Hmm…”
Jiang Wanwan placed her slender hands on his chest, her eyes drooping, and begged him in a hoarse voice: "Stop, stop... I can't bear it anymore..."
