Chapter 1: Rescued from the Water

Chapter 1: Rescued from the Water

Chapter 1

Lu Songli died in a car accident, the day after she eliminated all her rivals and was invited by the founder of the firm to become a partner, just when she was at the peak of her career.

As her consciousness faded, she had only one thought: Isn't it said that good people don't live long, but evil people leave a legacy for thousands of years? Wasn't she already bad enough? Was the title of the Great Demon King false?

When Lu Songli regained consciousness, the first thing she felt was cold and suffocating. The prolonged lack of oxygen made her head dizzy and her heart ached. But she also slowly realized that she was in water and sinking. The instinct for survival made her rise. She could swim, but her legs and feet were cramped, and she could only use her hands to flap vigorously towards the water.

On the distant shore, the voices of people were boiling.

"Hurry, our second young lady fell into the water, come quickly, save her!"

Several maids shouted and tried to go into the water, but they could not swim, so they had to retreat again, crying in panic.

"Someone please come and save our second young lady." Their second young lady has a heart disease.

Fortunately, their shouts attracted a lot of people.

"The eldest lady of the Zhao family and the second lady of the Lu family fell into the water!"

Someone reached over with a long bamboo pole, but the two were too far from the lakeshore to reach them. "Is there a maid who can swim? Go down and save them!"

"The one on the left should be the eldest daughter of the Zhao family. She is wearing a pure white cloak tonight!"

"Then the one on the right is the second young lady of the Lu family?"

The light at night was really bad. Even though there were many lanterns lit by the lake, the lights swayed in the night wind, making it difficult to see clearly. This was the only way they could distinguish the two people. The white cloak was looming in the water, but it was still quite conspicuous.

"Make way, Young Master Xie and Young Master Qin are here."

These two men were the fiancés of the second daughter of the Lu family and the eldest daughter of the Zhao family. They probably rushed over after hearing the news, and everyone made way for them.

Saving lives is like putting out a fire. After the two men arrived at the lake, without saying a word, they heard two splashes, and two figures jumped into the water and swam towards the two struggling women in the lake.

The official in charge of Prince Gong's residence, who had hurried over, breathed a sigh of relief. They couldn't find any maids who could swim, but they did have some male servants who could swim, but they didn't dare order them to jump into the water to rescue them. The best outcome would be for the two young ladies' fiancés to jump in and rescue them.

"How did your second young lady fall into the water?"

"I don't know either. It was still a while before the night-blooming cereus bloomed. Our Second Young Miss and Miss Zhao were at the pavilion in the middle of the lake, enjoying the moon and chatting. We were waiting at a distance. The accident happened suddenly, and the two young ladies fell into the water."

Lu Songli's legs were cramping and she couldn't save herself. When she realized someone was coming to rescue her, she clung to the life-saving straw that came to rescue her. She was very concerned about her life. No matter whether it was a dream or reality, she had to get out of danger first.

When Qin Sheng looked down and saw her face, his expression suddenly changed. He asked in surprise, "Why is it you?"

Realizing that her lifeline was about to be pulled away, Lu Songli clung to him tightly.

“Let go!”

If I don’t, then I won’t! Lu Songli thought to herself.

"Lv Songli, let go. I'm Qin Sheng, not Xie Zhan! Do you hear me?" Qin Sheng frowned when he saw the people by the lake. He just wanted her to let go a little and not cling so tightly, not to stop saving her.

Lu Songli paused when she heard that, sparks and lightning flashed in her mind, and fragments of memories flooded in. She loosened her grip on Qin Sheng a little.

Qin Sheng resigned himself to his fate and dragged her to the lake.

Over there, when Young Master Xie swam closer, Zhao Yutan seemed to have grabbed a life-saving straw, clinging to the man tightly. When she was about to reach the shore, she seemed to be unable to hold on and fell into a coma.

There was no other way, Xie Zhan could only let her hold him and swim towards the shore.

"Something seems to be wrong."

"Wait, the person that Master Xie saved was Miss Zhao?"

"Then Qin Sheng saved our second young lady?" The maid's voice was filled with fear.

"Why is the Second Miss Lu wearing Miss Zhao's cloak?"

They didn't know that when the two of them were watching the moon in the pavilion in the middle of the lake, Miss Zhao Yutan found that the wind in the lake was a bit strong. Despite Lu Songli's refusal, she took the initiative to take off her cloak and tied it around Lu Songli.

"It's a mistake, a mistake."

"It's over, it's over. We saved the wrong person."

This, this, this, when rescuing someone, he hugs and embraces them, what should I do?

The lakeside suddenly became silent.

Lu Songli was dragged ashore by Qin Sheng. Before he could make a move, Lu Songli was the first to shake off his hand.

As soon as she got ashore, her maid quickly wrapped her in a dry cloak.

"Second Miss, are you okay?"

Lu Songli shook her head. She was fine, she just felt cold, but she couldn't care less about that at the moment.

Glancing at the people around her, Lu Songli pondered the names of Xie Zhan, Zhao Yutan, and Qin Sheng. They sounded familiar. Then, a sudden thought struck her, and she paused. She felt that she might, perhaps, possibly, have transmigrated into the body of the original owner, a person with the same name but in a different time and space.

The reason for this speculation was mainly because her younger cousin came to visit during the Chinese New Year and spent a week swearing. During that time, she would complain to her about a novel she was following, "The Beautiful Concubine of the Powerful Official." She had overheard it, and since she had an excellent memory, she immediately recalled her younger cousin's words.

The male protagonist of this book is Xie Zhan, the female protagonist is Zhao Yutan, and the original owner Lu Songli is the cannon fodder.

In the original story, Lü Songli and her best friend Zhao Yutan got married on the same day. Zhao Yutan married Qin Sheng, the youngest son of the loyal and brave Qin family, while Lü Songli married Xie Zhan, the eldest son of the Xie family, a distinguished and scholarly family.

After marriage, their situations were completely different.

Soon after Zhao Yutan married, her husband's family was convicted and exiled. Many members of the Qin family died during the exile, and she suffered greatly during her time there. Meanwhile, Lü Songli's husband's family, the Xie family, remained resilient despite the current situation.

Later, the Qin family raised an army in exile to seize the world, and her husband's eldest uncle Qin Heng ascended to the supreme throne. Zhao Yutan also returned to the capital with him. At that time, her husband Qin Sheng had died, and she was Yishuang, and her status rose because of her husband's family.

After Zhao Yutan returned to Chang'an, he visited a friend and met the elegant and refined Xie Zhan, a man in his thirties. A secret love blossomed between the two, and they pursued each other in secret. Finally, during one of their passionate encounters, they were caught in an affair by Lü Songli, who devastated them and passed away. Because Lü Songli had been bedridden for three years, the truth behind her death was concealed. Furthermore, Lü Zhan was barren, leaving no heirs for the Xie family, and all traces of her were quickly erased by the Xie family.

A large part of the book describes the process of the two people flirting with each other and secretly communicating with each other. The little cousin was shouting that it was very exciting while calling the two people scum and bitches.

The Xie family made great contributions by taking the initiative to open the gates of Chang'an City and was not affected by the change of dynasties.

A year after Lü Songli's death, Zhao Yutan married Prime Minister Xie Zhan as his second wife and bore him twins, a boy and a girl. During this time, the new emperor, Qin Heng, fell seriously ill and passed away. His health had been exhausted from exile and war, and he passed the throne to his son, who was also in poor health. It is said that even after the marriage, Zhao Yutan, her former aunt, cared deeply for her nephew, the emperor's family, and often visited him at the palace.

The emperor's nephew was grateful to her and his own health was not good. He loved her and gradually entrusted the important affairs of state to Xie Zhan. Xie Zhan thus became a powerful official holding power in the new dynasty.

In the end, the hero and heroine love each other until they are old, have many children and grandchildren, and live a happy life.

There are two main reasons why this novel makes my cousin so upset. One is the death of Zhao Yutan’s husband Qin Sheng.

Qin Sheng was a skilled warrior, described in the literature as a young general comparable to Huo Qubing of the Western Han Dynasty. It can be argued that Qin Sheng deserves more than half the credit for the Qin family's eventual counterattack on Chang'an. It was also he who, during the late Dali Dynasty, led his troops on campaigns across the land, repressing the invaders and bringing peace and prosperity to the people. Everyone believed that, given time, Qin Sheng would be able to drive out the Tartar invaders, restoring peace to the land and ensuring the well-being of the people.

Unfortunately, such a person died of wound infection, which was unexpected and sudden.

His death saddened his brother Qin Heng, caused regret among the common people, and also gave foreigners a respite, laying the groundwork for the male protagonist Xie Zhan's later regency.

The second thing that annoyed my cousin was that the female supporting character in the book who shared the same name and surname as her cousin had a tragic ending. My cousin said that she was nothing like the daughter of the Lu family, and she was angry at her weak and docile character and hated her for not fighting.

At that time, she hugged her arms and said that if Lu Songli in the book was really her cousin, with her sister's cruelty, she would never allow them to bully her like this and would have killed them long ago!

After the little cousin said this, she was hit twice by her mother. Was she scolding her or was she scolding her?

Then the little cousin hid aside and picked up her phone to go to the comment section to fight against the scumbag and the bitch. While typing, she told her that her name was so special that even the female supporting role had the same name as her. If she accidentally wore it one day, she must teach her a lesson to this scumbag and the bitch, and she would write a fan fiction about it, blah blah blah...

Lu Songli didn't take it seriously at the time, but she didn't expect that her cousin's words would come true. Also, what's the situation now?

The opening wasn't very engaging, and it was a bit slow to get going. The story gets intense around chapter 100, so please be patient.
