Lu Songli didn't think there was anything to discuss. It was obvious that Zhao Yutan wanted the Xie family to take responsibility. She didn't know if the Xie family was truly upset about what happened last night and had some complaints about her, their daughter-in-law who hadn't yet married. There might also be other reasons involved, but the Xie family was considering canceling the engagement. It was also possible that the Xie and Zhao families had already reached some kind of consensus.

Madam Xie looked at the middle-aged man in Chu's clothes standing next to her steward with confusion.

The original owner was close to Zhao Yutan, who often invited her to his home, so she was quite familiar with the people in the Zhao residence. The moment the middle-aged man in Chu's robe appeared, she felt familiar. Furthermore, if the Xie family had an urgent matter and sent someone to summon Xie Zhan and his mother, they wouldn't have sent two stewards at the same time.
When Lu Songli called the man back, Lu Desheng and his wife realized this. They had been puzzled, but they hadn't thought too much about it. Of course, it was okay for the steward to have a servant to run errands, but the man in Chu Yi didn't look the type to run errands.
