Chapter 175 Sudden Fire
After dinner, Ye Li and his group returned to the temporary tree house.
In the tree house, everyone was lying or sitting together chatting, all talking about their own tree houses, their words filled with longing for their soon-to-be-formed homes.
After Xixi had eaten, she began to feel sleepy and kept yawning, so Ye Li took her into the room to sleep. Xiaomu was still full of energy and ran to play with Xu Jie and Mr. Xu.
Xiao Wei was also in the room. She sat on the bed blankly, not knowing what she was thinking. When she saw Ye Li and the others coming back, a smile immediately appeared on her face.
"Have you eaten yet?"
"Yeah." Ye Li responded, bent down and carried Xixi to the bed. Xixi took off her shoes and crawled into the sheets to sleep.
"I really envy you." Xiao Wei said more today than before. She smiled and said, "You have a pair of children and friends."
Ye Li naturally remembered that Xiao Wei's boyfriend was killed by the Taya tribe. She said, "There are so many people in the forest tribe. You can find friends too."
"I plan to leave." Xiaowei said.
"Why? It's safe here, and the people here are friendly. Why would you leave?"
"My sister is missing." Xiaowei's tears suddenly fell. She said, "I thought my sister evacuated with everyone, but when I got here, she wasn't there. I asked the people outside, and they said she escaped with a human raised by the Taya people. I want to find her. I have no family or friends here, so what's the point of staying here?"
"Where are you going to look?"
Xiao Wei shook her head: "I don't know either."
"You should stay," Ye Li suggested sincerely. "There are many dangers out there. It's too unsafe for a girl like you. Haven't you heard that the people from the mountaintop tribe have been kidnapping women lately? You're so beautiful, you'd be in danger."
"Thank you." Xiao Wei wiped her tears and gave up, saying, "It seems that I am still suitable to stay here."
"It's good that you think so. By the way, how is the construction of your tree house going?" Ye Li asked.
"Manager Li Yunkai saw that I was a single girl and it wasn't good for me to live with a bunch of men, so he arranged an old tree house for me a little further in. The original owner of the tree house passed away two years ago, and since no one was living there, he gave it to me."
"That's great, why don't you move in?"
"They say they're going to renovate it, and we'll probably be moving in tomorrow afternoon." Xiao Wei smiled and said, "Would you like to come visit me then? I don't have any friends here, and I hope you can be my friend."
"Of course." Ye Li smiled, stood up and hugged Xiao Wei, "I've decided to be your friend."
In the room, Ye Li and Xiao Wei were chatting all the time, talking about the interesting things that happened to them in the apocalypse.
Ye Li has always lived with her two children and seldom talked with people of her age, which made her feel suffocated. Even when she met Wu Qiaoer later, she still had some things to talk to, but unfortunately, Wu Qiaoer died not long after.
It was late at night, Xiaomu was tired from playing and came in to sleep, and Ye Li and Xiaowei stopped talking.
The noisy conversations outside gradually died down and finally returned to silence.
Ye Li felt sleepy as he lay there and slowly fell asleep.
"Fire, fire!" Someone suddenly shouted in the middle of the night, and all the people in the forest tribe were awakened.
Xiao Xun rushed to the window where the fire came from and quickly determined that the place where the fire was burning was where they had set up their defense line.
But why would that place catch fire for no reason? Unless someone set the fire on purpose.
"Brother Xiao Xun," someone called from under the tree house, "Our boss wants you to come over and help."
Xiao Xun glanced into the inner room, picked up his gun, and walked to the curtained door: "Ye Li, are you up?"
"I'm up." Ye Li in the room quickly answered. She walked over and stretched out her hand to lift the curtain. Ye Li asked, "What happened?"
"There's a fire ahead. These are for you." Xiao Xun stuffed a pistol and two small military knives into Ye Li's hands. He said, "Take the gun for self-defense. The two knives are for Xiaomu and Xixi. You two stay in the tree house and try not to run around."
"Okay." Ye Li nodded in response.
Xiao Xun turned around and immediately got down from the tree house, following the people downstairs and running towards the fire.
