Chapter 66 Why?
Xiao Wu took two mouthfuls of noodles and looked up. "Xiao Mu and Xixi really weren't lying to me. The tomatoes and cucumbers here are much bigger than ours. But why is that? My mom takes good care of them every day, fertilizing them, weeding them, and taking good care of them, but they still grow so small."
Ye Li looked at him and said, "There are many factors involved. Every plant requires different fertilizers, and the method and timing of fertilization are also different. Furthermore, if the fruit of the previous generation of seeds wasn't well cared for, they would already be small. As the seeds are passed down from generation to generation, their genes are fixed, and they can only produce small fruit."
Xiao Wu seemed to understand what he was saying, so he asked, "Then why are the crops you grow so good?"
Ye Li smiled slightly and replied, "Because our ancestors were farmers for generations, specializing in farming, so I know a little bit about these things, so the crops I grow are naturally better."
"That's great." Xiao Wu has learned to express emotion at such a young age.
Ye Li poured him a glass of water and said, "After breakfast, get familiar with the house with Xiaomu and Xixi."
"Yeah." Xiao Wu nodded.
Xiao Mu said enthusiastically, "Let's watch cartoons later. Tom and Jerry is my favorite."
"What is a cartoon?"
In the end times, the scattered tribes have unimaginable scarcity of resources. They don’t even have electricity, let alone watching cartoons.
It was because Ye Li was lucky that he stumbled upon such a safe house, which allowed Xiaomu and Xixi to grow up like normal children.
Xiaomu said: "Cartoons are just cartoons."
He is still young and can't explain anything.
Xixi got down from the stool and ran to turn on the computer to play cartoons.
Ye Li had moved the computer to the bedside a long time ago, and also hung a projection screen in front of the bed, just so that Xiaomu and Xixi, who were sick and bedridden, could watch cartoons.
After seeing this, Xiaomu quickly ate his breakfast in two bites, wiped his mouth, and ran to help.
"I'll put it away, sister. You go have breakfast."
"Okay," Xixi had already turned on the computer. She turned to the table and asked Ye Li, "Mom, can I eat in bed?"
When they were sick before, they ate in bed.
Ye Li smiled: "Sure."
Why bother with so much in the end times? Besides, lying in bed, eating, and watching TV is really enjoyable.
Xixi smiled sweetly, took her bowl from the table, then looked at Xiaowu and said, "Brother Xiaowu, you can come too."
"Yeah," Xiao Wu nodded, brought his breakfast and joined Xixi.
Ye Li shook his head helplessly, stood up, collected his and Xiao Mu's bowls, put them in the kitchen sink, and then took out the baked egg tarts from the oven.
"Want some egg tarts?"
"Okay," Xiaomu and Xixi raised their hands happily.
After the two children recovered from their illness, their appetites improved a lot and their cheeks gained more flesh.
Ye Li took a simple little table he made himself and placed it on the bed, then placed the egg tarts on it.
She said, "Shall I make each of you a glass of juice? Xiao Wu, what kind of juice would you like?"
Xiao Wu's gaze shifted from the projection screen in front of him, and he looked a little confused.
Xixi quickly said, "We have apple juice, watermelon juice, and orange juice. Which one do you want?"
"Apple juice," Xiao Wu replied.
Xiaomu and Xixi raised their hands and said.
"I want apple juice, too."
"I want orange juice."
"Okay, wait, I'll make it for you right away."
Ye Li turned and walked towards the kitchen.
