Chapter 328 Something Happened
The furnishings in the house are simple, but clean and tidy, making it very comfortable to stay in.
"Sit wherever you want, you're welcome." Grandma Qiu said with a smile, "I'm blind, so please forgive me for my poor hospitality."
"It's okay, grandma. We can do it ourselves." Ye Li said.
"Come here, you two children. Let me touch you. How old are you this year?" Grandma Qiu waved kindly to Xiaomu and Xixi.
A Qiu explained somewhat embarrassedly: "My mother is blind, and her hands are like her eyes."
Xiaomu and Xixi glanced at Ye Li, who nodded and said, "Go ahead."
"We are six years old." Xiaomu and Xixi walked over and let Grandma Qiu touch their appearance.
"These two children are so good." Grandma Qiu said with a smile. She took a handful of candy from the plate beside her and carefully placed it in Xiaomu and Xixi's hands. "These candies are given by grandma. They are delicious."
"Thank you, grandma." Xiaomu and Xixi said with a smile. The two children couldn't wait to peel off the candy wrapper, put the candy into their mouths, and then went to play with the dog.
Ye Li sat beside them and talked, while A Qiu was cooking in the open kitchen, occasionally joining in to say a few words.
At night, the lights were on in the house and everyone gathered around the dining table to eat dinner. Outside, the fields stretched as far as the eye could see, with only the sound of the wind blowing through the crops. The dog lay under the table, occasionally twitching his nose to sniff the fragrance of the food.
Suddenly, things calmed down.
After dinner, Aqiu took Ye Li and the children to the room upstairs.
"This used to be my child's room. It's perfect for you three to live in." Aqiu smiled and turned on the light. The room was spotless and it was obvious that it was cleaned regularly.
"Thank you!" Ye Li said gratefully, "If it weren't for you, I'm afraid my child and I would be sleeping in the open somewhere."
"At times like this, everyone should help each other!" Ah Qiu smiled and said, "Besides, I have my own selfish motives. I'm always busy traveling, and if you're here, you can help look after my mother-in-law."
"Good night, see you tomorrow." A Qiu went downstairs and talked to Grandma Qiu, and then took care of her until she went to rest.
Xiaomu and Xixi had been staying in the truck's cargo box for a day and a night. They were already very tired and quickly fell asleep on the bed.
Ye Li looked at their cute sleeping faces, smiled helplessly, fixed the corners of the quilt for them, then took off his coat and lay down, hugging the two children and falling asleep together.
On the second day, at dawn, when everything was still waking up, there was a muffled rumbling sound and the transparent glass shook twice.
Ye Li suddenly opened his eyes and sat up from the bed. Xiaomu and Xixi were still sleeping soundly and were not awakened by the muffled sound.
Ye Li got out of bed, opened the window, and looked in the direction of the sound. He saw a big fire in the distance, and it seemed like there was an explosion over there.
There was also the sound of someone getting up in the next room. It was Aqiu who woke up.
Ye Li quickly opened the door of the room, and Ah Qiu happened to come out.
Ah Qiu hurriedly put on her clothes. She said, "There's an accident in the city. Judging from the general direction, it seems that there was an explosion in the agricultural laboratory."
"Are you going over now?" Ye Li asked as he followed her downstairs.
"Yes, I have to go over and take a look. I have a sister who works there and she's also alone. I'm worried something might happen to her." A Qiu asked, "Please take care of my mother-in-law."
"Don't worry, I will take good care of her."
Aqiu took out a gun and went out. Her dog chased after her and was chased back by her.
Ye Li stood by the window and watched A Qiu get on the truck and drive it towards the direction of the fire.
