Chapter 60 Room Feng Shui

Gu Zhilin did not answer the question directly, but only glanced at Jiang Jiyang indifferently.

But it was this one glance that left Jiang Jiyang somewhat bewildered.

He instinctively looked at Lu Jin'an, because in his opinion, Lu Jin'an was the one who understood this man best.

Lu Jin'an shook her head: "I don't know either."

Just as Jiang Jiyang breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that Gu Zhilin was just trying to scare him.

Then Lu Jin'an said, "I don't understand formations or anything like that, but I saw with my own eyes how he set other people's clothes on fire with just a few hand gestures and a single incantation, without any fire source or touching anyone."

Jiang Jiyang breathed a sigh of relief.

He looked at Gu Zhilin and said, "Gu Zhilin, we have a pretty good relationship, right? You wouldn't lay a hand on me, would you?"

Gu Zhilin smiled, narrowing his eyes: "It depends on your performance."

These words did not reassure Jiang Jiyang. He found a place to sit down and said, "Gu Zhilin, I have always thought you are a very good person."

Gu Zhilin couldn't help but laugh upon hearing this: "Do you know what that means in the 21st century? It's called giving someone a friend card, which means rejecting them."

Jiang Jiyang was dumbfounded. He had only been trying to survive, so why had he rejected him?

And... what did I refuse?

Seeing Jiang Jiyang's somewhat foolish appearance, Lu Jin'an finally patted Gu Zhilin on the head: "Don't scare him."

Gu Zhilin then said to Jiang Jiyang, "Don't worry, although Taoists can indeed use formations to harm people, this is extremely detrimental to one's virtue and not conducive to cultivation. I will not do it."

Jiang Jiyang quickly said, "I told you you were a good person."

He then quickly added, "I didn't mean to give you a friend card and reject you. I was just stating the facts."

Gu Zhilin did not answer the question of whether he was a good person.

Instead, he started observing things in the room on his own.

He discovered that the bed was located in the southeast of the room. Although there were no obvious beams in the room, the location of the windows and balcony was in conflict with the bed's position.

So he turned and asked, "Can I move these things in the room? Or is there a unified management system in the military?"

Lu Jin'an was curious that he wanted to move, so she said, "You can arrange your own single room. Is there anything wrong with that?"

Speaking of this, Zeng Yan was also very curious: "Recently I read some ancient materials that said that ancient Taoist priests knew about feng shui layout. Is that what you mean by the placement of things in this room?"

Gu Zhilin nodded: "That counts too."

"So you mean the feng shui layout of the dormitory is bad?" Lu Jin'an frowned, looking very concerned about this matter.

"But it's not that bad. It's just that I'm a Taoist practitioner, and I need to meditate and absorb the essence of the sun and moon every day."

Lu Jin'an nodded and said, "I know, that's why I specially prepared this larger balcony for you."

He started preparing this room after he met Gu Zhilin. Initially, the balcony wasn't this big, so he forcibly changed the layout.

He even argued with the quartermaster department several times because of this.

Gu Zhilin was surprised that the large balcony in his room was a special privilege, and he was happy to know that Lu Jin'an had prepared it especially for him.

So he said, "The bed's location clashes with the balcony and window, blocking some of the sun and moon's essence from being absorbed. But we can just move the bed over there."

He pointed to the other side.

Everyone was curious about what the essence of the sun and moon was.

So they all looked at Gu Zhilin expectantly, hoping he could explain in detail.

Gu Zhilin didn't hold back: "The essence of the sun and moon, if you ask me to explain it to people in the 21st century, I'm afraid I really can't explain it properly, because it's something mysterious and profound."

"However, I may be able to tell you now. It is very likely cosmic radiation, because I have discovered that my absorption of the essence of the sun and moon and my improvement in cultivation in the modern era far exceed those of the 21st century."

Lu Jin'an and the other two were surprised to hear this, because they all knew that humans evolved glands and their sexes changed because they couldn't tolerate cosmic radiation.

Unexpectedly, cosmic radiation could actually promote spiritual cultivation.

Jiang Jiyang, quick-witted, said, "Does this mean that modern people can all cultivate Taoism and absorb the essence of the sun and moon?"

Lu Jin'an had thought of this at first, but then he remembered that Gu Zhilin had refused Shen Guannan's request for instruction when he was teaching Wen Yili.

Moreover... it seems that Wen Yifan did not learn his meditation practice.

Sure enough, he saw Gu Zhilin shake his head and say, "Unfortunately, no. Whether it's the 21st century or modern times, only a small number of people are suited for cultivation. So far, I've only met one person, Wen Yili, who was born for this."

Jiang Jiyang was somewhat disappointed upon hearing this, but still refused to give up and said, "Why don't you take a look and see if I have any talent?"

Zeng Yan joined in the fun: "Take a look for me too. If I have talent, I'll become your apprentice."

Lu Jin'an was quite unhappy that the two of them were being so proactive.

He said casually from the side, "You said before that you would come to the army to teach me, does that mean I have talent?"

Gu Zhilin shifted his gaze to him and then said seriously, "I'm not sure, but... I've looked at your birth chart before and know that you have an affinity with Taoism, so even if you don't have talent, you should still be able to achieve results in cultivation."

This time, Jiang Jiyang and Zeng Yan were even more excited: "The Eight Characters? Do you mean the birth time? Can you take a look at our birth charts too?"

Seeing that the two were getting more and more excited, Lu Jin'an pulled them apart unhappily: "Can you let Zhilin rest for a while? He just arrived at the dormitory and hasn't unpacked his things yet. He also has to go see General Zhu in a while."

Jiang Jiyang and the other person finally quieted down.

“Alright, let’s meet General Zhu first,” Jiang Jiyang said. “Gu Zhilin, let me tell you, don’t be nervous. Although General Zhu is very serious and looks fierce, he’s actually a pretty good person.”

Gu Zhilin looked over with some surprise. Actually, he didn't need to pack much; he had only brought two sets of clothes, but he probably wouldn't wear them on a daily basis.

He just noticed that a military uniform was already hanging in the closet; it must have been collected for him by Lu Jin'an.

He was particularly curious about the general who was described as fierce by Jiang Jiyang.

Based on his previous interactions, Jiang Jiyang seemed to be a lively person who didn't care much about others.

Even Jiang Jiyang, who was at the same level as Lu Jin'an's father, only showed respect and did not give any harsh comments.

Seeing Gu Zhilin's curiosity, Lu Jin'an didn't let Jiang Jiyang speak and took the initiative to explain to Gu Zhilin: "Because General Zhu looks very fierce, has a fiery temper, and a very loud voice. Most newcomers who meet him are frightened."

"When Jiang Jiyang first met him, he was so shocked by his shout that he trembled all over."

Jiang Jiyang quickly retorted, "Bullshit, I was just startled by his voice when I wasn't looking."
