Chapter 68
The two of them flew to the back mountain on their swords. Ji Tang followed Su Jinzhou and saw him stop in front of a cave.
"They are inside." Su Jinzhou looked back, wanting to say something but stopping himself.
Ji Tang: "Senior Brother?"
Su Jinzhou said nothing in the end. He circulated his spiritual power and placed his hand on the surface of the cave.
The stone cave opened quickly, and a gust of cold wind blew out of the cave. Ji Tang shrank his shoulders and protected himself from the nightmare.
She looked at Su Jinzhou, who nodded at her.
Jitang walked in step by step.
Su Jinzhou did not follow in, leaving enough space for her and her people.
All the fellow tribesmen were locked in the cave. Apart from not being able to go out, Su Jinzhou did not cast any spells on them or tie them up with chains.
When she saw her people, they also saw her.
The other party didn't give Jitang a chance to speak and attacked directly.
Ji Tang blocked the Nightmare Clan's magic that was whistling towards her, and finally found the opportunity to say, "I am from the Nightmare Clan!"
After the spell dissipated, more than ten tribesmen appeared in Jitang's sight. They stood up one after another and approached Jitang.
"Nightmare Clan?"
"It is indeed the Nightmare Clan!"
Jitang's identity was easy to identify, and they immediately confirmed Jitang's identity.
"Another one has been caught."
"Damn it, Ren Xiu!"
They stopped attacking, but didn't pay much attention to Ji Tang. They returned to the cave and sat down while uttering vicious curses.
"Why are you torturing ordinary people?" Ji Tang couldn't help but ask, "Our clan has a clear ban on torturing dream hosts to obtain nightmares as food. Aren't you afraid of being severely punished?"
One of them looked at Jitang, "What do you mean?"
"I said--" Ji Tang had just opened her mouth when the other party suddenly pounced on her. The Nightmare Clan's low-level spell, Nightmare Thorn, appeared in his hand, and the sharp tip stabbed straight towards Ji Tang's right eye.
Jitang leaned back slightly, and the sharp spike in front of his right eye was approaching.
She clasped her hands together and cast the Nightmare Clan's intermediate spell, the Nightmare Mirror. When the spike was about to touch her right eyeball, it was suddenly blocked by something. The next second, the Nightmare Clan spike changed direction and shot straight towards the Nightmare Clan that was attacking her.
"ah!!!"
The Nightmare Clan tilted their head and barely avoided the fatal blow, but their ear was pierced by the sharp spike, and a big bloody hole appeared instantly.
Ji Tang said coldly: "Want to fight?"
She can see the cultivation level of all the Nightmare Clan members here, which proves that she is stronger than all the Nightmare Clan members here.
When more than a dozen members of the Nightmare Clan saw her making hand gestures, they all looked terrified. When the sharp spikes pierced the ears of the Nightmare Clan, no one else dared to move.
He made hand gestures and cast a mid-level spell of the Nightmare Clan, which required at least the Golden Core Stage of cultivation.
Among them, the one with the highest cultivation level is only in the early stage of Lingji.
The Nightmare Clan knelt on the ground, covering his ears, blood flowing from between his crossed fingers, and he screamed hysterically.
Ji Tang's voice was tinged with chill, "I'll ask you again, why are you torturing ordinary people?"
She regarded them as her own people, but they showed their fangs to their own people without hesitation. Such people will never obey unless they are taught a lesson.
A woman stumbled out from among a dozen people, hugged the man and said in a trembling voice, "We are the Nightmare Clan. Is it wrong to eat, eat dreams?"
Jitang looked at her, and she shrank back again.
"Don't play dumb with me. I asked you why you were hurting the common people, and you come and tell me that eating dreams is fine? Eating dreams is fine, but for the sake of nightmares, you used all kinds of despicable means to torture them in your dreams. Don't you follow the rules set by the Nightmare Clan?"
"All Nightmare Tribes do this! Why can't we?!"
Ji Tang looked at her in disbelief. "All? The Nightmare Clan of the Nightmare Fantasy Valley never violates clan rules. Have you been traveling for too long, or living outside for too long, so long that you've forgotten the clan rules?!"
The woman half stood up and said competitively, "We all came from the Nightmare Illusion Valley. The clan rules you mentioned are no longer in the valley. We go out hunting only at the order of the clan leader. What the clan leader needs is a strong and unmatched clan, not a group of cowards who believe in outdated clan rules!"
Ji Tang's words seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth. "You said it was the order of the clan leader?"
"Of course! We are always loyal to the clan leader!"
*
When Ji Tang came out of the cave and saw Su Jinzhou, his heart, which had been clenched, finally relaxed and the feeling of suffocation gradually disappeared.
Su Jinzhou closed the cave door and asked, "What did they say?"
Ji Tang just found it incredible, "They said it was the order of the tribe leader. He no longer abides by the tribe rules and wants to form an unparalleled powerful tribe."
"The clan leader gave the order?"
"Xue Mei has always followed the clan rules, whether he was an elder under my father or he took the position of clan leader. Although he is not as decisive as my father, he still uses the clan rules to restrain himself and manage the clan. But now he has abolished the clan rules and forced the tribe members to do things that are completely contrary to the clan rules!"
Su Jinzhou and she flew back on their swords.
Ji Tang told his master about the incident. After listening, his master was silent for a moment before saying to Su Jinzhou, "Let those Nightmare Tribe go down the mountain."
Because of Jitang, they will not kill those people, but what will happen to them after they go down the mountain is their own fate.
Ji Tang: "Master, I want to go back to the Nightmare Valley."
Liu Wushu weighed the pros and cons for a moment, "How does the clan leader treat you?"
Knowing that he was worried, Ji Tang said, "You are more polite and considerate than you are to other members of the Nightmare Clan."
"Xue Mei used to follow the clan rules, but now he's suddenly abolished them. Why did he suddenly change his mind? Why did he let the Nightmare Clan go out to find food by any means necessary? Why did he build such a powerful clan in such a short period of time? We don't know."
Liu Wushu said, "You are the direct descendant of the thirteenth generation clan leader, pure and orthodox. Your very existence is the biggest obstacle for him to take the position of clan leader. Coupled with his sudden change of style, it is not wise to go back now."
Ji Tang made up his mind: "If I don't go back, I won't know anything. I am from the Nightmare Clan, and he will never hurt me in front of the clan members."
Seeing her like this, Liu Wushu knew that it was pointless to say more. He sighed deeply, "When are you leaving?"
"Tonight." Ji Tang said, "The sect will protect me. I cannot cause trouble for the sect. I will leave the sect secretly and come back under the cover of night."
Liu Wushu: "Take good care of yourself, you guys go ahead."
Ji Tang was stunned when he heard this, and turned to look at Su Jinzhou.
Su Jinzhou smiled and said, "Why, you don't want Brother to follow you?"
Jitang really doesn't want to.
If she returns to the tribe, the tribe leader may still give her some leeway because she is the descendant of the previous tribe leader, but Su Jinzhou and the Nightmare tribe have no relatives or friends, so it is hard to guarantee that things will change.
Su Jinzhou didn't wait for Ji Tang to say anything, and bowed to Liu Wushu before her.
Liu Wushu didn't raise his eyes, just said "go early and come back early".
Ji Tang was one step behind Su Jin Zhou. When he finished his greetings and was about to chase after him, he heard Liu Wu Shu say, "Don't you know what kind of character your senior brother is? Just go ahead."
Jitang should be it.
She walked out of the cave quickly and found Su Jinzhou waiting outside.
He seemed to not want Ji Tang to say anything to refuse, and when he saw Ji Tang coming out, he summoned his sword. The sword flipped in the air and flew to his feet. He immediately drew his sword, and the flying sword immediately took him off the ground.
Jitang looked at his series of smooth operations and didn't know what to say, but in the end he laughed.
She shouted: "Suzhouzhou!"
The flying sword in the air suddenly made a crisp sound, and then obediently carried Su Jinzhou closer to the ground.
Su Jinzhou was helpless and tapped the sword with his right foot. "Whose sword is this?"
Su Zhouzhou moved him up and down.
Ji Tang chuckled and called Ji Yao out. Ji Yao first circled around Ji Tang before flying towards Su Zhouzhou.
The two swords collided, and there was no sharpness at all when the sharp weapons touched each other. Instead, it was like two good friends who had not seen each other for a long time greeting each other at close range.
"Come back, we are leaving." Jitang called Jiyao.
When Su Jinzhou heard this, a smile suddenly appeared on his face.
Just as they were about to fly out, Liu Wushu's voice rang out from the cave, "You two little bastards, weren't you supposed to wait until nightfall before leaving? What are you using swords for now?"
Both figures paused.
Su Jinzhou was afraid that Ji Tang would not let him follow him and did not want to give Ji Tang a chance to speak, so he wanted to fly away on his sword immediately.
Ji Tang's attention was completely focused on Su Jinzhou, and for a moment she forgot about leaving at night - this was her own suggestion.
"The brothers and sisters are all idiots," Liu Wushu's voice could still be heard faintly from the cave. "Gu Yan, don't learn from your brothers and sisters. We can't have three idiots on Lingfeng."
Ji Tang felt stupid, but she refused to admit it and put the blame on Su Jinzhou, "It's all my fault, Senior Brother."
*
At nightfall that night, two figures flew towards the back mountain.
They passed through the dense forest and saw a teleportation array next to a spiritual spring in the forest.
This magic circle has been around for quite some time. It was set up by their master hundreds of years ago, before they became his disciples.
The magic circle can transport people directly to the forest at the foot of the mountain outside the sect.
Not every inner sect peak of the Suxuan Sect had a magic array, but any that did had to be reported to the sect. Furthermore, all teleportation arrays were one-way, meaning they could only leave through the back mountain array and could not return the same way.
Ji Tang and Su Jinzhou placed the spirit stones in the magic circle, and Su Jinzhou waited for Ji Tang to come to his side before activating the magic circle.
The magic circle quickly lit up, and in the blink of an eye, it carried the two away from Suxuan Sect's Ganri Peak. Within a few breaths, they were already standing in the magic circle in the forest below the mountain.
They flew directly on their swords, and this time Ji Tang led the way, flying towards the Nightmare Fantasy Valley in the night.
The next afternoon, they arrived at the town closest to the Nightmare Valley.
The two entered through the town gate and saw empty houses and streets.
Walking down the street, there were many stalls supported by wooden frames on both sides of the street. There were some fruits, vegetables and meat on them, but they were all rotten and spoiled, and there were many flies and insects flying around.
Some houses had their doors ajar, revealing open wooden boxes and bundles that hadn't been taken away in time.
This place is full of traces of people's lives, but it doesn't feel lively at all.
Jitang walked out of the house with a gloomy look on his face.
Su Jinzhou pointed ahead and said, "There's an inn over there. Let's rest there for now."
Ji Tang lowered his head and followed behind Su Jinzhou.
When they arrived at the inn, before the two men even entered, two hidden weapons were suddenly shot out from inside the door.
Su Jinzhou protected Ji Tang as he retreated with one hand and blocked the hidden weapon with the other.
The two hidden weapons seemed insignificant, but they cut through the spiritual energy that Su Jinzhou was protecting his hands, leaving a deep wound on his finger that was so bloody that the bone was visible. If he hadn't dodged in time, a section of his finger would have been severed.
“Senior Brother!”
Su Jinzhou whispered, "Don't attack, he's a human cultivator."
Ji Tang felt a gentle and thick layer of spiritual power covering her body - it was from Su Jinzhou, in order to prevent the other party from discovering her identity as a member of the Nightmare Clan.
Jitang grabbed his hand, "Let me see your hand!"
The cultivators inside heard the noise and came out. "Cultivators?"
Su Jinzhou replied, "Yes."
They looked at Su Jinzhou and Ji Tang, wearing moon-white disciple uniforms. Their wary expressions immediately disappeared, replaced by smiles. "So you are fellow Taoists from Su Xuan Sect. Please come in!"
They were brought into the inn by two people, and only then did they discover that there were many cultivators sitting in the inn. A rough estimate was that there were at least thirty people.
"Everyone, these two are disciples of Su Xuan Sect."
One of them laughed and said, "Who can't tell it's the Yuebai disciple uniform? Do I need you to introduce it?"
After a good-natured laugh, Ji Tang and Su Jinzhou sat at the table with the two monks who had greeted them.
Ji Tang was busy bandaging Su Jinzhou's wound and had no energy to greet the people at the table.
The table was very quiet.
Su Jinzhou glanced at everyone's faces and saw that their eyes were all fixed on Ji Tang's face, each of them staring intently.
He looked elsewhere, and the looks of those people were no different from those of the people at the table.
Su Jinzhou's face darkened. "Everyone, is there something on my junior sister's face?"
