Chapter 31 Sister-in-law Selection
End of August.
During the Beginning of Autumn, a hot wind blew on a dull night.
Students returning from travel to attend classes can be seen in the community at any time. Han Siti squeezed into the elevator to go upstairs.
My parents just came back from grandma's house.
"Wash your hands and eat." Her mother gave her an unpleasant look.
"Grandma, are you feeling well? Why don't you guys stay and play for a few more days?" Han Siti's grandmother lives in the countryside, and she has an aunt at home who takes care of her. The journey is long, and they are busy with work, so they can only go back once every two or three months.
"If we play for a few more days, who will help us with the work?" Mom untied her apron and put it aside.
Han Siti came over after washing her hands with a smile: "I support you. Am I not working now?"
The father looked pleased: "Daughters are still the best."
But my mother poured cold water on me: "Is your salary enough for you?"
"Since Dandan went to college, has she ever asked us to give her more living expenses?" Dad rarely refuted Mom.
"That's true." Mom didn't say anything else and urged them to go to the table and eat.
Han Siti sat down obediently.
After weighing her tone, she spoke: "Mom, Yiyi moved out of home and said she would treat a few of us friends to dinner today."
Jin Yi's move out of home was not smooth sailing. The Jin family's house was in turmoil these days, and no matter how much he threw a tantrum, it was useless.
Fortunately, he was relieved when he learned that she lived in the same community as Jin Huainian.
Mom said seriously, "What time are you guys going to stay together? Are you going to come back in the evening?"
Han Siti couldn't give her any assurance, so she lowered her head and ate in silence, like a silent protest.
"You're already grown up, and mom can't take care of you like before. If it's too late, just stay at your friend's house for a night." Mom sighed.
Han Siti nodded, the corners of her mouth curved: "Okay."
"By the way, how was your chat with Xiao Xie recently?" Mom suddenly remembered this.
"Who is it?" Han Siti took over the conversation subconsciously without thinking.
The mother's expression immediately became stern, and she carried the authority of a class teacher that she always had, which frightened Han Siti.
Xiao Xie, the man she went on a blind date with last time.
"No more talking." Han Siti lowered his eyes, not daring to look at her, his tone a little vague.
Mom frowned tightly. "Why aren't you chatting? Can you tell me what you're unhappy about this time?"
Han Siti used chopsticks to stir the rice in the bowl, feeling unsure.

"Don't like it?" Mom snorted, almost laughing out of anger. "I've seen Xiao Xie before. He's not bad looking, has a good income, and is very well-mannered. What else are you dissatisfied with?"
"Mom, are you so anxious to marry me off?" Han Siti's tone was a little coquettish, which was a tool she often used to resist her mother's dominance.

"You two, mother and daughter, stop it and eat your meal. Why are you arguing over such a small matter? Dandan is still young. She definitely won't want to settle unless she meets someone she likes." Dad came out to persuade them.

"I want to see what kind of boyfriend you can find." Han's mother was a typical person with a sharp tongue but a soft heart, and her tone softened this time.
After Han Siti calmed her mother down, she took a taxi to Yijiangyue.
Jin Yi lives on the fourteenth floor, the same building as her brother.
Han Siti rang the doorbell. After a while, a long-haired girl wearing a black miniskirt opened the door.
Her college roommate Jiang Li.
"Dandan, why did you come just now? We have been waiting for you for a long time." Jiang Li saw her come in and closed the door casually.
Han Siti folded her arms, raised her eyebrows, and said casually, "You didn't say anything bad about me, did you?"
"She said you were beautiful, generous and cute." Jiang Li put his arm around her shoulders and walked inside.
Jin Yi sat on the sofa and moved out of his seat.
Fang Nianru sat on the tatami next to her, her eyes glued to two cucumber slices.
"Sit here." Jin Yi patted the seat next to him.
Everyone sits together and just talks about gossip.
Half an hour later, the hot pot ingredients arrived.
Jin Yi took two large bags of vegetables and meat from the delivery man, plus a few bottles of cocktails. The alcohol content was not high and she bought them specially.
It took several people a while to cook it.
"How about we not go home until we're drunk tonight?" Jiang Li raised the bottle and clinked glasses with them.
Fang Nianru refused: "No, my boyfriend will come to pick me up later, and I don't want to go back drunk."
Jiang Li: "Is it a big deal to have a boyfriend?"
Jin Yi then agreed: "That's right, it's amazing, isn't it?"
Fang Nianru didn't argue with them, but just said casually: "You are single, so of course you don't understand the joy of being in love."
"What's so good about being in a relationship? Being single is the happiest thing. I can do whatever I want without worrying about others." Jiang Li suddenly changed the subject to Han Siti: "Dandan, what do you think is better, being in a relationship or being single?"
Han Siti narrowed her eyes, supporting her cheek with one hand. Her black eyes were slowly filled with water, and her eyes were as calm as water.
"I haven't talked about it." She shook her head, finished a bottle of cocktail, and looked dazed.
"What a coincidence, me too." Jin Yi smiled foolishly.
For some reason, Jiang Li looked at them with a hint of sadness.
"I saw on the Internet that your brother canceled his engagement. Is that true?" Jiang Li started gossiping again.
The protagonist of this gossip is Jin Huainian, a hot topic in Beijing. He is rich, handsome, and still unmarried. Which girl hasn't coveted him?
"Yes." Jin Yi replied to her.
Jiang Li put some vegetables into the pot. When he heard her words, he seemed to know some incredible secret.
“Why was it cancelled so suddenly?”
Jin Yi said calmly, "My brother doesn't like her."
"It's rare to hear the word 'like' from someone in your Jin family."
“…”
Jin Yi ignored her teasing, picked up the cocktail and drank half of it.
The sky gradually darkened, and the moonlight penetrated the floor-to-ceiling windows and dissipated under the crystal chandelier.
"Do you think I have a chance?" Jiang Li joked.
Jin Yi didn't understand what she meant: "Be your sister-in-law, do you think I can do it?"
Jin Yi shook his head: "You know I already have a candidate for sister-in-law."
"You mean Dandan?" Jiang Li glanced over and saw Han Siti lying on the table. Her face was white and tender, making every strand of her hair look beautiful.
"Who else besides her?" Jin Yi said.
Jiang Li disagreed: "You've already graduated, and you haven't given up yet?"
"What do you know? Dandan is now my brother's secretary. She is close to me. Let's wait and see whether it will work out." Jin Yi still firmly believed that they would be together.
Jiang Li had met his brother once, just a quick glance. He was very handsome, and he could still remember his angular face until now.
In terms of appearance, she is on par with Dandan.
It's late at night.
Fang Nianru's boyfriend came to pick her up, and Jiang Li went downstairs with her.
Jin Yi opened the window to let the smell dissipate for a while.
