Chapter 4 Let’s talk it over
Han Siti poked the rice in the bowl, and his thoughts gathered together.
Rebuttal: "I work very hard at the company."
"Then work hard and have some eyesight. Then go get your driver's license test someday. It won't be a big deal to take the subway or taxi all day." Mom was still nagging.
"Taking the subway is great. It's green and there's no traffic jams."
"Forget it. You're so impulsive. I'm worried if you really drive the car."
“………”
"I told you before that you should work hard, get a postgraduate degree, and find a job at a nearby university, but you just wouldn't listen..."
"I found a job." Han Siti said.
"How did you get your job? Do you want me to remind you?" Her mother had been a teacher for twenty years, and her expression became serious, which still frightened her.
"I understand. I will work hard and get a regular job as soon as possible." Han Siti raised three fingers to make a promise, trying to stop her mother from talking.
"Remember what you said now." Mom stopped there: "After dinner, take this plate of pumpkin pie to the grandparents next door. They helped you find your job. Dessert in your mouth, do you hear me?"
Han Siti nodded: "I heard it."
After dinner, Mom cleaned up and gave instructions again before picking up the thermos box and going to the hospital to deliver the meal to Dad.
She rang the doorbell next door while holding a bag of pumpkin pie. A few seconds later, a tall figure landed at her feet.
Han Siti looked up suddenly, and was stunned when she saw the man's cold and three-dimensional appearance.
Jin Huainian was wearing a gray home suit, his eyes were slightly narrowed, revealing his collarbone, his eyebrows and eyes were slightly tired, he stood straight, his dignity could not be concealed.
"Why are you here?" Han Siti blinked her eyelashes quickly and asked subconsciously.
Jin Huainian gave up his seat, and the two of them were very close to each other, and could clearly smell the faint fragrance on each other.
"I'm at my grandparents' house. Can't you come?" Seeing someone come in, he closed the door again.
She came here after applying a facial mask. Her skin under the light looked like a shed egg, full of collagen.
Jin Huainian's grandparents are both university professors and have not yet retired. This community is close to the school, and they have lived here for more than ten years. They have developed feelings for it and have never moved out.
"Who's here?" Grandma Chen's voice rang out, breaking the ambiguous traces between the two people, whether intentional or unintentional.
Han Siti smiled sweetly: "It's me, Grandma Chen."
"It's Dandan, come in quickly, have you eaten?"
"I've eaten it." Han Siti said briskly, "This is the pumpkin pie my mom made for you and grandpa."
"You came just in time. I didn't have enough dinner." Grandma Chen smiled and patted the sofa next to her, asking her to sit over.
Han Siti handed the pumpkin pie over, and grandma happily took it and ate it.
"How is your work going? Did this kid bully you?" Grandma glanced at Jin Huainian walking over and asked her.
Han Siti's eyes widened, and she quickly waved her hand: "Boss Jin is such a nice person! He's very considerate of his employees and very gentle and patient with us."
Grandma was stunned and couldn't help but wonder if this was referring to Jin Huainian?
"That's good." Grandma said, glanced at the man sitting lazily across from her, and opened the box: "Has a woman come to the company recently?"
"Woman?" Han Siti remembered what Sister Ruby had told her about Jin Huainian's fiancée. She was silent for a moment and said, "There is one."
"The girlfriend that the Jin family introduced to him is a ballet teacher, but we don't know what this guy is willing to do, and he won't say. What do you think of that woman?" Grandma came close to her and asked as if she was talking about some gossip.
Han Siti blinked and smiled slightly, her smart eyes flashing with a moving light: "It's good, and it matches him very well."
Jin Huainian looked over here when he heard that, met her playful gaze, and his light words were full of arrogance and naivety.
He became a little colder and frowned, as if a cold voice would come out of his lips in the next second. However, Han Siti didn't care at all. He relied on Grandma Chen's presence and spoke in front while his brain followed behind.
Without pausing, he continued, "Boss Jin is so happy today. He must like her."
"Really?" Grandma Chen's smile widened a bit, and she held Han Siti's hand tightly. "This kid, he likes me but he didn't tell me."
Han Siti instantly felt a layer of chill surrounding him, and he became much more restrained.
End of fabrication.
"Grandma, it's getting late. I'll go back first. I have to get up early for work tomorrow." She smiled and said goodbye quickly.
Seeing this, Grandma Chen didn't stay long.
"Huai Nian, go and see him off."
Han Siti saw the man stand up, looking down at her, his dark eyes staring quietly.
She thought to herself that this was not good.
"No, no, it's so close, I can walk there in two steps. Mr. Jin, please take a rest. I'm leaving first."
The moment the slender figure flashed past Jin Huainian, he opened his eyelids and the deep, unquestionable voice appeared again: "This is for you."
Han Siti knew she couldn't get away, so she followed Jin Huainian to the door dejectedly.
The hands that often left marks on her waist were now holding the door handle, their joints red and slender and distinct.
The lights in the empty corridor at the door were bright enough for the two to see each other's expressions.
Seeing Jin Huainian’s dark face, Han Siti hurriedly said goodbye and wanted to leave.
The man didn't give her any chance, leading her by the collar, pressing against the cold tiles, and pressing into the corner.
"Mr. Jin, let's talk it over nicely." Han Siti's eyes flickered as she declined in a delicate voice.
"Let me ask you a few more words. Am I pregnant?" Jin Huainian turned her chin and spoke word by word, his voice like a layer of ice.
Han Siti tried to bite his hand, but the other party obviously knew her intention and dodged it gently. After failing, he curled his lips.
"Mr. Jin, you won't blame me, will you?" She gave up struggling and threw her body into the man's warm arms, their shadows intertwined.
Jin Huaian didn't move, not even raising his hand: "Stand still."
"I'm standing fine." Han Siti argued with him.
"Keep your cell phone on 24 hours a day and don't be late for the airport tomorrow." Jin Huainian pressed his eyebrows and said patiently.
Han Siti raised her eyebrows slightly, a smile appeared on the corner of her mouth, and she looked up from his arms: "Mr. Jin, if grandma sees us like this, you're doomed."
"Didn't you bring it here?" Jin Huainian remained indifferent.
Han Siti was about to open her mouth to argue when a ringing sound suddenly pierced the empty corridor.
The voice-activated light turns on.
She quickly glanced over there. They lived on the third floor, with two households on each floor. Sometimes her mother thought the elevator was too slow, so she would walk along the corridor.
However, at this moment, the familiar ringtone can only be that of my mother.
"My mother is here, hurry in." Han Siti's heart was beating in her throat, and she pushed the man towards the door with her hands.
He had just asked him in a threatening manner if he was afraid, but now he gave in faster than anyone else.
