Chapter Sixty-Five

Chapter Sixty-Five

The first snow fell, and time seemed to speed up; ten days passed in the blink of an eye.

“Little Fish,” Shen Yue strode up and caught up, “Silent treatment is not advisable.”

You Congxi was utterly annoyed. Without even glancing at the boy next to her who was a head taller than her, she moved with lightning speed and quickly distanced herself from him again.

In the early morning of late November, before dawn, the sky was gloomy and foggy. Pedestrians on the street were all bundled up in gray, white and black cotton-padded coats and hurried along. Only a splash of red and green stood out.

When You Congxi received the sixth scrutinizing gaze, he abruptly stopped in his tracks.

"Hey, you—" Shen Yue almost didn't react, then stopped in his tracks. "What's wrong? Why did you suddenly stop? Are you hungry...?"

“Take off your coat,” You Congxi said, staring at his outrageously unconventional coat.

"Ah," Shen Yue was taken aback, not knowing why he would take off his coat in a 2 or 3 degree weather, but his fingers still subconsciously gripped the zipper and pulled it down. "Why?"

You Congxi didn't expect him to actually take his clothes off. Since he was so obedient, why didn't he listen when she told him to stop messing around?

She opened her mouth to speak, but immediately noticed the fluorescent yellow skull covered in rhinestones that stubbornly reflected the faint sunlight inside the man's unconventional jacket.

"......"

Shen Yue looked at the girl in front of him with a "whoosh" as she pulled his coat shut, and couldn't help but tilt his head: "Thank you?"

"You're welcome," You Congxi said, pulling her away without a second thought, "Stay away from me."

“Hey You Xiaoyu,” Shen Yue sighed and chased after her again, “I didn’t want to wear this outfit either, but these are the only two thick ones I have in my wardrobe.”

You Congxi ignored him and continued walking briskly.

Are these the only two outfits left?

You're kidding me!

If it weren't for the combined efforts of the big tree and the sea to force this young master to wear a school uniform, he wouldn't even have the option of wearing a different outfit every day from head to toe, including his underwear and socks. He only has these two sets of clothes.

They'll say anything to achieve their goals.

Sure enough, Shen Yue's next sentence revealed the truth.

"There's no time like the present, let's do it tomorrow. Tomorrow's Saturday, and we don't have exams during the long weekend, so you can come with me to the mall to look at clothes," Shen Yue said. "How about it?"

“Well, it’s Saturday, no exams, perfect for looking at clothes,” You Congxi said, “and it’s also our ten-day anniversary.”

"You're so smart!" Shen Yue clapped his hands excitedly, his eyes shining. "Alright! Let's do it that way then..."

"Who said that to you?" You Congxi coldly interrupted him. "Go over there yourself."

That's ridiculous. I've never heard of anyone celebrating their tenth day anniversary.

The two parted on bad terms at the school gate. In such a busy area with a huge flow of people, if they were seen together, it would inevitably lead to a wave of rumors and gossip.

However, unlike before, the number of people who believe the two are in a sweet relationship has begun to increase dramatically.

All of this originated from a post on Shen Yue's WeChat Moments.

A picture with a caption that looks like a heart.

This post on WeChat Moments immediately caused a huge uproar in various groups at No. 1 High School.

The picture shows two shadows in the dark, with two hands clasped together in the corner, as well as a corner of clothes and shoes.

Unlike those who just spammed question marks in the comments section, there were actually some busybodies who managed to uncover the girl who had successfully dated Narcissus through subtle clues—

Yes, we will visit Congxi.

Shen Yue was both happy and apprehensive after hearing the news. He was desperate to go public and let everyone know that his girlfriend was You Congxi and that You Congxi's boyfriend was Shen Yue, but he was also worried that You Congxi would not want to go public.

But if You Congxi is unwilling to go public, does it mean that she just wants to play around with him and doesn't want a serious relationship...?

Shen Yue was conflicted for several days. The feeling of wanting to show off but not being able to almost drive the young master, who had been pretending to be cool since he was a child, crazy.

Later, he subtly probed the girl's attitude towards the fact that their relationship seemed to have been leaked. You Congxi said she didn't care, which made him quite happy, but after the happiness came a dilemma—since she didn't care about going public, did that mean she didn't care if they didn't go public?

Shen Yue isn't the type to keep things bottled up inside. After struggling for several days, he finally came up with a plan—to celebrate their ten-day anniversary and then go public with their relationship.

Shen Yue felt that his move was absolutely brilliant.

But to everyone's surprise, the plan was met with a cold shoulder by the other protagonist as soon as it was started.

The two ignored each other and entered the classroom one after the other, each taking their seat.

A light snow began to fall outside again. He Qi was placing a bag of milk on the radiator by the wall, waiting to drink it hot after his morning reading session.

He sat up straight and turned to look at his deskmate, whose face was as black as a rock: "What's wrong now? Who messed with the bully of our Shen District?"

"Get lost." Shen Yue was in a terrible mood and didn't want to talk to anyone.

"Oh," He Qi raised an eyebrow, "had a fight with your mysterious girlfriend?"

Actually, this mysterious girlfriend wasn't mysterious at all. Even the onlookers knew it was You Congxi, let alone the group members who hung out together every day.

But since the two of them didn't say anything, they pretended not to know, and would tease them a couple of times every day to relieve their boredom.

Shen Yue didn't even want to utter a sound. He was sullen and angry, flipping through his book with a loud rustling sound. Everyone else stood up, but he didn't. He just sat steadily in his chair, staring blankly at the political book in front of him.

"Cough," He Qi caught a glimpse of a dangerous figure slowly approaching out of the corner of his eye, then glanced at his seated classmate, and almost coughed up a cough. "Cough cough cough cough..."

"Did you get a chicken feather stuck in your throat?" Shen Yue was very annoyed and started to retort without even looking up.

Seeing the big tree silently walk to within two meters, He Qizheng stopped paying attention to it. This ungrateful bastard deserved to be caught.

This small area was quiet for a few seconds, with only the sound of students reading aloud remaining.

Shen Yue, having lost his temper, stopped being angry and started thinking about how to persuade You Congxi to go on a date with him tomorrow.

“You didn’t get any chicken feathers stuck in your butt,” Tang Miaosong’s voice suddenly rang out above him, almost startling him to the ground. “Did you have glue on your butt? Everyone else is standing up but you’re sitting down.”

"......"

Qu Qi glanced back, then turned back to report the battle situation to You Congxi: "Chen Yue suffered a crushing defeat and was dragged outside by the big tree for a beating."

“Hmm,” she thought for a moment and added, “that ugly coat was also taken off.”

You Congxi didn't say anything, and continued to silently recite his political textbook.

“His clothes underneath are so thin,” Qu Qi added. “I feel like he would freeze to death if he stood in the corridor for a moment.”

You Congxi turned the page and began reciting the second page.

"Oh dear, the poor thing, it seems to be trembling..." Qu Qi exclaimed exaggeratedly.

"Recite it." You Congxi interrupted.

Qu Qi shrugged behind him, indicating that he was powerless to help.

Shen Yue did not enter the classroom until the morning reading session ended.

You Congxi took her water cup to the water room to get a cup of water, and when she entered the classroom, she passed by an empty table and returned to her seat without looking at anyone.

She made way for Qu Qi, who was right behind her, and sat down calmly. She took out the books and papers she needed for the first history class and placed them on the table. Her right hand unconsciously twirled the pen as she reviewed her notes from the previous class.

"You Congxi!" Startled by a tap on the shoulder, You Congxi instinctively turned to look.

"He Qizheng, what are you showing off with that bag of milk in your mouth?" Qu Qi spoke first, glaring at the boy who had suddenly appeared, and said with displeasure, "We'll be checking your memorization in history class, have you memorized it all?"

Upon hearing this, He Qizheng panicked. He squeezed the bag and finished the milk in three seconds, forgetting all the words he was about to say. He hurriedly tried to run back.

He threw down the empty bag and frantically pulled the history book out of his backpack. The fact that the book was even in his backpack was enough to tell him something, but why did he forget yesterday that he was supposed to check his memorization today?

He Qi was flipping through the book, feeling like he was going to vomit blood. The more anxious he got, the more mistakes he made. He flipped through the book for a while but couldn't find the memorization notes he had drawn yesterday.

I subconsciously looked up to ask Liang Jing, the dutiful class monitor, but she wasn't there. Blood was choking me. I looked down and finally found my notes, then swallowed them back down.

The history teacher came in as the bell rang, and he immediately sped up his recitation, as if he wanted to crack open his brain and cram the knowledge into it.

But then he suddenly remembered that when he looked up earlier, You Congxi seemed to have glanced in his direction.

He glanced at the empty seat next to him out of the corner of his eye, then looked away, trying to fill his empty mind before the teacher asked a question.

......

During the long break, You Congxi took his cup and went to the water room again.

Qu Qi glanced at the back door, a little puzzled: "Didn't you get a glass of water during your morning reading? I didn't see you drink much of it, so why did you get another one?"

"I'd like something hot to drink," You Congxi said.

Qu Qi raised an eyebrow as he looked at the thermos in her hand.

You Congxi paused almost imperceptibly on an empty seat in the back row, where the brightly colored jacket draped over it stood out even more.

She returned to her seat, unscrewed the lid of her thermos, and slowly took a sip of water.

Two classes were scheduled, and we arrived at the entrance.

"Hey, you're back." He Qizheng's voice rang out from behind.

You Congxi suddenly turned around.

"Mmm," Yin Zixuan responded.

Noticing the girl in the seat in front of her looking at her, she paused, then asked, "What's wrong?"

“…It’s nothing.” You Congxi said, turning her head away.

"Shen Yue hasn't come back yet?" Yin Zixuan glanced at the back seat, her voice slightly soft, "Then was really him the one I saw on the stairs over on the rooftop..."

She turned to Liang Jing and asked, "Where is Shen Yue going...?"

Before she could finish her question, she felt a gust of wind blow beside her.

She looked up in surprise and saw You Congxi dash out the door like a rocket, not forgetting to grab the ugly coat draped over the back seat.

He Qi was stunned: "What happened to You Congxi?"

He looked at Liang Jing, who shook her head. Then he looked at Yin Zixuan, who also looked surprised.

Only Qu Qi, who was in front, remained silent for a moment, then suddenly smiled.

"Fish don't just have a seven-second memory."
