[The End] Chapter Sixty-Eight
"Huh?" Shen Yue didn't react. "What?"
You Congxi had already stepped out of his embrace, turned her back, wiped her face haphazardly, and casually replied, "It's nothing, I was just complimenting your good taste in clothes."
Shen Yue laughed happily: "You noticed too? I got a new hairstyle this morning, and spent an hour just picking out clothes."
No wonder.
You Congxi turned around and glanced at his head; it was a look she had never seen before.
She couldn't help but think of the boy on the stretcher.
Is this what they call being too concerned to think clearly?
But this is too much of a coincidence.
After this ordeal, You Congxi was somewhat dejected and didn't pay much attention to Shen Yue's words, walking away on her own.
"Why did you get in the ambulance?" Shen Yue noticed that something was wrong with the girl and thought she was frightened. He took her hand tightly and put it in his pocket. "Do you know that person?"
You Congxi remained silent.
"I was so scared when I heard there was a car accident here. I wanted to call you but my phone was dead. I was too tired yesterday and just fell asleep without charging it..." Shen Yue said to himself, not caring whether the girl answered or not.
You Congxi glanced at him.
"When I got out of the car, I saw half of your body in the ambulance. My legs went weak. I ran over and found that you were perfectly fine. In my heart, I made vows to all the Buddhas, Jesus, and Confucius," Shen Yue said.
You Congxi remained silent, but the hand that was being held and tucked into his pocket moved slightly.
Shen Yue was also quiet for a few seconds. There were car horns, pedestrians chatting and laughing, and birds chirping in the trees. Only in the little world between the two of them did a brief silence fall.
They walked slowly, their fingers intertwined intimately in their warm pockets, their arms pressed together, and a faint rustling sound of their clothes rubbing against each other as they walked.
No one spoke, but the atmosphere wasn't awkward. You Congxi vaguely felt a tranquil peace, like the steaming hot milk in front of the island counter that night, as if the boy beside her knew all her thoughts and feelings and accepted them.
She was wearing a black down jacket, which made her face look even smaller, and the quills that were covered up seemed to soften a bit. In Shen Yue's eyes, she looked like a little hedgehog that had turned its belly up, with small apples still stuck in its quills.
“You Xiaoyu,” Shen Yue suddenly spoke up, easily uncovering what the girl had been trying so hard to hide along the way, “You’re worried about me.”
Another silence followed.
Before Shen Yue could even utter the words he had prepared to smooth things over, he heard the girl hum in agreement.
Shen Yue was taken aback.
“I’m afraid it will be you lying in the ambulance, Shen Yue,” You Congxi said.
She said she was scared.
An emotion that goes beyond mere worry.
He was clearly the least likely person to say he was afraid.
She was clearly the one least willing to show weakness.
“Chen Yue, I…” You Congxi paused for a moment, then continued, “I think I like you even more than I thought.”
I like you so much... I don't know what to do with you.
Before I knew it, I had walked to the lakeside. The willows on both sides had turned into withered branches, and the lake water was frozen. A breeze was blowing from the lake. Apart from young couples with overflowing hormones, no one wanted to stroll here.
Despite the desolate scene, Shen Yue's mouth was slightly open, yet his heart was pounding.
“I…” He lowered his head slightly, looking into the girl’s bright black eyes.
He even saw his own reflection there.
The girl's warm breath touched the tip of his nose.
"Woof woof woof!"
A dog was chasing a cat as it passed by.
Shen Yue buried his head in You Congxi's shoulder.
"......Depend on."
His forehead trembled slightly along with the girl's shaking shoulders. Shen Yue was both embarrassed and angry: "Don't laugh!"
"Just laugh." A voice came from above.
Feeling his carefully styled hair being touched before leaving the house, Shen Yue said again, "Don't touch my hair!"
“Then get up,” You Congxi said.
"No," Shen Yue said stubbornly.
"Hurry up." You Congxi gently pulled his hair, trying to pull him up like a scallion.
"No." Shen Yue buried himself even tighter.
A few people passed by in a few scattered places. The boy was very conspicuous, clinging to the girl like a big dog. Both of them were good-looking and had good figures. Even if you couldn't see the boy's face clearly, you could imagine that he must be a handsome man.
You Congxi didn't have the same thick skin as Chen Yue. After being glanced at by several passersby, some briefly and some for a while, he felt his face was burning, so he went a little further.
"Ouch—" Shen Yue was in pain from being pulled, and straightened up angrily, "You're trying to murder your husband!"
“Who do you think you are as a ‘husband’?” You Congxi wasn’t afraid of him at all. “At most you’re just…”
Her gaze swept over Shen Yue's handsome face, she smiled, and said nothing.
Shen Yue got annoyed and tickled her through her thick down jacket: "What am I? Huh? Tell me?"
You Congxi has always been ticklish, and even in her thick down jacket, she could still feel that unbearable itch. She laughed and tried to dodge, but this bastard held her tightly in his arms, like she was made of iron, and no one could hear her cries for help.
"Hahaha... Go away, hahaha..." You Congxi laughed so hard she could hardly breathe, tears welling up in her eyes.
This was the first time Shen Yue had ever seen her laugh so unrestrainedly.
He gradually stopped moving, and by the time You Congxi came to his senses, his arms were already wrapped around the neck of the bastard in front of him.
Two pairs of eyes, still holding a hint of a smile, met.
Shen Yue slowly lowered his head and affectionately nuzzled her nose.
The hands around his neck suddenly tightened.
"Close your eyes," he said in a hoarse voice.
The lake wind in winter is cold and biting, but swimming in Congxi doesn't feel that bad.
Her mind went blank, and she felt as if she were engulfed by a fireball. The occasional muffled groans and the wet sounds of their lips mingling sent shivers down her spine.
Without thinking about whether anyone would pass by and see her, she felt weak all over, and only Chen Yue's strong arms, which were firmly wrapped around her waist, prevented her from sliding to the ground.
......
After the kiss, You Congxi stared blankly at the withered grass on the ground, panting.
Shen Yue released the person, his burning gaze sweeping over their face before he raised his hand and used his thumb to wipe away a trace of drool from the corner of their mouth.
A large army of ants passed by on the withered grass.
"Are you stupid?" Shen Yue smiled and waved his hand in front of the girl's eyes.
"Shen Yue," the girl suddenly spoke up, "how many times have you been in a relationship?"
“You were my first love,” Shen Yue raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Why do you ask that?”
You can't say that it's because your kissing skills are so good that it doesn't seem like you're in your first relationship, can you?
She kept a straight face and hesitated for a long time before finally blurting out under Shen Yue's persistent questioning, "Your kissing skills are actually just so-so."
"......"
"You dare laugh at me? You're dead." You Congxi stared intently at Shen Yue's twitching lips.
Shen Yue raised his hands in surrender, indicating that he would absolutely not laugh.
The two of them took a few steps forward.
"Hahahahahahaha!" Shen Yue couldn't help but burst out laughing.
He laughed as he pointed at You Congxi and slapped his thigh.
“Chen, Yue.” You Congxi’s tone was unusually calm.
"Hahahahahahahaha!" Shen Yue took off running, laughing loudly as he ran, the laughter carried by the wind into the girl's ears.
You Congxi was so angry that his hair was practically standing on end. He was about to catch up with that bastard when someone suddenly kissed him on the corner of his mouth. Before he could even react, that bastard had already dashed off into the distance.
"Woof woof woof!"
She turned her head, panting, and saw that the dog, which had been chasing the cat with its tongue lolling out, was now being chased by the cat. What remained unchanged was that it was still happily panting with its tongue lolling out, grinning as it was happily chased by the cat.

The date was supposed to be a movie, dinner, and crafts, but halfway through their meal, they were suddenly kidnapped and taken away by a group of people.
"cheers!"
He Qi was raising his glass to toast everyone, then tilted his head back and downed the drink, before grabbing the microphone and directing people to request songs.
"Let's start by playing 'Social Shake' to warm things up!"
As soon as the upbeat music started, He Qi and Qu Qi were struck dumb and began shaking their heads and buttocks as if they had been struck by lightning.
Shen Yue couldn't bear to look away and slowly took a sip of beer.
These guys, who seemed to appear out of nowhere, had just put down their chopsticks when he and You Congxi were half-carried and half-dragged to a KTV, told that everyone had to participate in the group activity.
He put down his wine glass and glanced at You Congxi across the diagonal.
"Separation anxiety?" Yin Zixuan noticed his gaze and asked with amusement.
Shen Yue nearly choked on his drink. He coughed a few times, turned his head speechlessly, and said with heartache, "Yin Zixuan, you've fallen!"
"Oh," Yin Zixuan said.
Shen Yue sullenly downed his glass of wine.
The two in front got really into it and insisted on drinking with the remaining three, saying things like, "Friends for life, whoever doesn't drink is a dog."
After finishing one round of drinks, they ordered the song "Friends." He Qi was holding Shen Yue with his left hand and Qu Qi with his right, screaming and shedding tears at the same time.
"Friends for life! Those days are gone forever!"
“Zheng’er has had too much to drink,” Shen Yue said, suppressing a laugh as he poured a glass of wine and held it to his lips. “Here, have some more to calm him down.”
On the other side, Qu Qi also joined in the fun, insisting that everyone sing along, otherwise he wouldn't change the song.
She raised a glass of wine and said, "Since our group was formed, we've laughed and joked, but we've never fallen apart! This glass is for everyone, for our philosophy group. I hope we all get better and better!"
"Alright! Cheers to everyone! Cheers to us!" He Qi wiped away his tears, raised his glass, and clinked it with Qu Qi's. "Come on, drink!"
When Eason Chan's voice rang out, He Qi and Qu Qi were already crying their eyes out, their heads in each other's arms.
"Anyone who didn't know better would think we were graduating and going our separate ways." You Congxi sat a little closer, his tone a bit lazy and tinged with a smile, probably because he'd had some wine.
"So we'll go our separate ways after graduation?" Yin Zixuan clinked glasses with her, whether teasing or testing her was unclear.
You Congxi didn't speak. She took a sip of wine but didn't put down the glass, just held it and looked at Yin Zixuan.
Yin Zixuan was also looking at her.
“I’m happy for you,” You Congxi said, raising her glass to clink with hers. “Our discipline committee member is a good girl. You two should take good care of yourselves.”
“Don’t use job titles outside of work hours,” Yin Zixuan said.
You Congxi and Yin Zixuan exchanged a glance, then raised their wine glasses and laughed for a long time.
Some things just become like liquid in a wine glass. With their nonsensical banter, with their ambiguous eye contact, with their joking around, they become liquid in the wine glass, swallowed in one gulp, flowing through their bodies in silence, and finally excreted.
The three people who took turns singing in front of us had clearly drunk a lot; one's face was as red as a monkey's bottom, one spoke with a lisp, and the other...
"Aren't you supposed to be able to drink a thousand cups without getting drunk?" You Congxi teased, looking at the boy who was slumped over the bar with his eyes closed.
Shen Yue opened his eyes upon hearing her voice, then closed them again.
I don't know who turned the lights in the private room to the kind of slowly rotating colored light balls that you see in old-fashioned discos. The room wasn't very dark, and every now and then, colorful light strips would shine on you.
Multicolored light streaks swept across Shen Yue's profile as he half-reclined on the bar counter, softening his usually cold and stern features. His eyelids were thin and slightly red, his nose was straight, and his lips were rosy... You Congxi looked away and swallowed.
"Hey," she gently nudged his hunched shoulder, "Tired?"
The boy didn't move or speak; only his eyelashes trembled.
You Congxi glanced to the side and saw that Yin Zixuan had gone to the bathroom to chat on the phone with Liang Jing, while He Qi and Qu Qi were singing "Love" as a duet.
He Qizheng sang in female voice, and Qu Qi sang in male voice.
"If it weren't for loving you, why would I feel uneasy..."
If the original singer's voice is magnetic and tells a story, then their voices have a comedic quality.
You Congxi smiled and looked away, only to meet Shen Yue's amber eyes the next second.
He remained lying face down, his left arm supporting his forehead, staring up at You Congxi.
"Where are you looking?" Shen Yue's voice was a little hoarse from the alcohol, and his tone was tinged with dissatisfaction.
"Aren't you sleeping?" You Congxi asked.
Shen Yue fell silent again, glanced at her, and then closed his eyes.
You Congxi thought he might have drunk too much.
She had never seen this man drunk before, and couldn't help but be curious. Just as she was about to reach out and poke his face, her hand on the bar got warm.
She was startled and looked down.
The boy tentatively touched her finger with his index finger, then slowly grasped it, and finally intertwined his entire hand with hers.
The air in the private room felt thick and viscous, and she suddenly felt like she couldn't breathe.
"Little Fish," the boy called to her.
"Hmm?" You Congxi looked up, her left hand still being held in his.
“I saw your post on WeChat Moments,” Shen Yue said.
Before she could speak, the door to the private room opened, and Yin Zixuan, who had just finished a long phone conversation, pushed the door open and came in.
The light from outside illuminated their clasped hands. Yin Zixuan raised an eyebrow and closed the door tightly behind her.
"You Xiaoyu!!" Qu Qi's exclamation blared through the microphone, instantly drawing everyone's attention. Holding her phone, she sobered up slightly. "You announced it on your WeChat Moments?!"
In an instant, all eyes were focused on You Congxi.
In the silence, she calmly raised her hand, which was intertwined with Shen Yue's.
“Yes,” she smiled, her voice clear and firm, “with my boyfriend.”
