Chapter 430 Destruction
Zephir, the god of light and glory, stared coldly at the otherworldly being before him.
He wasn't tall and strong, and even wrapped in a thick, half-worn black coat, he still looked tall, pale, and thin, revealing a frail, somewhat neurotic scholar's temperament. Although his eyes were covered, his chin was slightly raised, his posture calm and composed, as if he was looking down at the world.
The gods looked at people through their souls, and the soul of this frail human before them was the most glaring presence in this place, cold and majestic, so that everything around them seemed dim and insignificant. The cold, cold light filtered through the fingers of the god of resistance and change, like a futile attempt to block out the sun with one's own hands.
"Don't show off before me, you alien." Zephir said coldly, "If fate hadn't deceived the gods, you wouldn't even be here. Ambrose, the god of origin, only sees you as hounds chasing us away. What qualifications do you have to criticize me?"
They worked together to coerce the goddess of fate, Lamodo, into granting them the so-called "method of immortality," only to find it became the gallows that completely destroyed the gods. The young, vibrant human bodies they once considered within easy reach now slew them one by one—even with the involvement of a terrifyingly powerful otherworldly being. It's hard not to assume this is malicious intent from the otherworld. Otherwise, how could this otherworldly soul have traversed the turbulence of time and space to reach this world?
Furthermore, with the deaths of two gods in quick succession, the Abyss had become utterly destabilized, making it impossible to survive. Zephir was not one to sit back and wait for death to arrive; under the pressure of the world, he had no choice but to descend.
The God of Light and Glory quickly figured out the clues behind this, and the way he looked at people changed. Just an ordinary human, he thought angrily and unwillingly, how could he become someone favored by the world?!
"Weren't you the first to attempt to seize the body of the Chosen One?" the professor sneered rudely. "To be more precise, it was you who entered the abyss for eternal life, causing yourselves to lose your bodies and tearing your souls into pieces, forcing the victim to rebel against your despicable manipulation and coveting—and now you're complaining and accusing fate of being unfair?"
The light around Zephir fluctuated violently, and Cassius II's face twisted between hideousness and pain.
"What do you know?!" Zephir's fury shook the entire hall. "It was me who led humanity to conquer, it was me who led humanity out of ignorance and established a civilization that belonged to humanity, it was me who bestowed light and glory upon humanity. Otherwise, the humans of the Ambrose continent would still be a bunch of ridiculous monkeys crawling on the ground in a daze under the dark and bloody rule of the ancient gods!"
He even wasted a great deal of divine power, and a holy spear condensed from divine power appeared in his hand. The civilian soldiers outside the hall could not help but show expressions of surprise and uncertainty. They could faintly see through the crack in the door a strange light that was shaking violently, and the shadows of furniture that stretched and shortened, constantly changing direction.
"The greatest glory in this world belongs to me, and I only seek the crown I deserve, to receive the reverence and praise that humanity should forever bestow upon me—" The soul of the God of Light and Glory roared unwillingly. He gave up on communicating with the otherworldly beings and turned to look at the indifferent God of Resistance and Change: "New God, tell me, is this even wrong?!"
"Your mistake was dying too late," Azuka said coldly. "If you had died earlier, in your own time, and left behind the great achievements you left behind, I would have respected you even more."
Zephir: “…”
He was furious, literally. Even through his palm, Nova could feel the glare of the light stinging his eyes.
Within the halls of Kite Heart Palace, two vastly different divine powers violently collided and squeezed, causing the entire space to emit a humming sound as if overwhelmed. Jophiel Yialos, lying on the ground, unable to move under the intense impact of the divine power, was conveniently tossed by Azuka into an out-of-the-way corner.
"And who told you that 'you' deserve eternity?" Azuka's voice remained clear and steady amidst the surge of divine power, with a cold and penetrating power: "You are only a human, Zephyr. At best, you were once a monarch with a name in history, a pope who expanded the territory, and a general who was skilled in battle—"
Though clearly meant as a compliment, it seemed to strike a chord with the God of Light and Glory. Zephir roared, and to free himself from the frailty of a human, he even detached himself from the king's body, leaving him to collapse to the ground. The holy spear, condensed from pure light, suddenly erupted with an even more dazzling radiance, nearly engulfing the entire hall. With a determination to incinerate everything, it charged towards the New God and the otherworldly being he hated!
Azuka's expression was slightly tense. He could sense that this attack almost contained all of Zephir's remaining divine power, and he was filled with a crazy desire to die together.
His figure suddenly disappeared from where he was.
The next second, the God of Struggle and Change appeared behind Zephir without warning, tightly gripping the sword that belonged only to him, and without hesitation, slashed through the bright and burning divine power.
The God of Light and Glory was the first deity the young Azuka encountered after leaving the Asaqi Valley. He still remembered the shock he felt upon entering the Church of Light, seeing the lavish stained glass windows depicting the god's achievements and hearing the priests chanting prayers about the god's blessings and mercy bestowed upon this land.
Unfortunately, this light was too arrogant and overbearing, and as time passed, it began to cover up the filth and ugliness beneath it. It required people to prostrate themselves on the ground, looking up, praising, and bowing, day after day fearing the so-called "heresy and blasphemy" defined by those high above.
Amid the God of Light and Glory's angry and resentful screams, Azuka's golden hair flew wildly. He ignored the burns on his arms and face that had been instantly burned to the point of skin and flesh peeling off. With one hand, he protected the person in his arms, and with the other hand, he used the sword to pierce the soul that had become ugly under the torture of time and no longer had the glory of the past.
"As for your 'bright' era," the God of Resistance and Change shouted sternly, "it ended the moment humans learned to break free from the church and think!"
The light was completely extinguished.
There was no earth-shattering explosion, no devastating destruction. If it weren't for the slight fluctuations of divine power lingering in the air, it would have been as if the god named Zephir had never appeared in the world.
The black-haired young man, who had been huddled obediently in his embrace, moved, trying to pull away the hand that was pinning his head to his shoulder. But the other person didn't loosen their grip, only holding him tighter. "...Don't move. Wait a moment."
The professor was stunned for a moment, and then he smelled a subtle, strange smell, as if burnt flesh, mixed with a hint of blood.
"Are you hurt?!"
He didn't dare to struggle violently, fearing to cause secondary damage, so he could only gently but firmly push the man's chest. This time it was successful, and Nova immediately raised his head and carefully looked at the golden-haired god who was gently embracing him.
...It looks extremely miserable.
The guy's left hand that was protecting him was intact, but most of his right hand holding the sword had exposed the sharp bones. A large area of flesh on his face was also burned. A few white teeth were revealed under the charred flesh on his cheeks, and the flesh on the edges was wriggling and growing on its own. Combined with that face that was a combination of extreme beauty and horror and bloodiness, it even looked a little shabby.
"Zephir's final blow contained the power of godhood, making it difficult to defend against. A direct attack was the best option at the time." The Savior lowered his ever-gentle and beautiful blue eyes and explained seriously, "But don't worry, you'll recover quickly."
Seeing the rare look of panic on his lover's face, he paused, unable to help but hug her tighter. He kissed her hair vaguely and muttered childishly, "...It's just that it probably looks ugly now, so I didn't want you to see it."
"Have you lost your pain sensory nerves?" Even though he rationally understood that what he said was probably true, the professor couldn't help but glare at him. The pain caused by burns is generally considered to be one of the most severe pains a human can endure. With bones exposed, how could it not hurt?
"You can kiss me," the Savior suggested calmly, "and it won't hurt."
professor:"……"
He took a step back, staring expressionlessly at the horrible face, studying it carefully for a moment. Only after the other person's expression gradually became slightly stiff did the tyrant say coldly, "Bow your head."
The blond god lowered his head in obedience.
The black-haired young man leaned forward and earnestly kissed those intact blue eyes, his slightly cool lips more gentle and careful than snowflakes. Before anyone could hold the back of his head in place and try to get more, he nimbly retreated again.
"Forget about kissing," the professor said seriously, explaining, "Human saliva is very dirty and could easily cause a secondary infection on the wound. I won't kiss you until you're healed."
Having said that, he still avoided the injured area, pulled up the savior's right hand, hesitated for a moment, and gently pressed his lips against the smooth wrist.
Azuka: “…”
His left hand, which was intact and hanging by his side, twitched involuntarily.
"...Are you sure kissing works?" The professor raised his head suspiciously, carefully observing the expression on his lover's face. Previously, he'd always thought the saying "kissing makes the pain go away" was just a psychological effect used to coax children...but judging by this guy's expression, it seemed like it might actually work.
"Yes." Someone answered firmly.
He even deliberately moved closer, his eyelashes drooping pitifully, and muttered softly and weakly: "Sir, there is actually something wrong with me..."
"Where?" The professor's eyes suddenly became sharper and more serious.
The other person grabbed his hand with his left hand, pressed it against his chest, and asked him to stretch out his five fingers and place them against his heart through the gloves.
"Do you feel it? Is it beating too fast?" The savior lowered his eyes and stared quietly at his lover, whose brows were seriously furrowed and his worry was completely suppressed. Beneath the tenderness that almost overflowed in his blue eyes was a terrifying desire and greed that seemed to never be satisfied.
But his voice became softer and more harmless: "My sir, please tell me, what should I do now?"
"It's probably because of the intense exercise just now," the professor speculated, frowning almost instinctively. "Or is it because of the tachycardia caused by emotional excitement?"
"Preliminary speculation suggests this is a normal reaction. We can observe for a while longer," he instructed seriously, but he was also worried that the God of Light's divine power might have caused some subtle injuries. "Apart from this, are you feeling any other discomfort?"
But when he looked up to observe the man's physical reaction, he suddenly ran into a blue tide full of gentle and helpless smiles - then the professor suddenly realized that this guy was probably just acting coquettishly, and with a hint of mischief.
professor:"……"
He suddenly felt like biting someone.
Lying in the corner, unable to get up from the crushing power of the two gods, Jophiel Yialos said: "..."
Even though the Knight Commander was still in extreme grief and trance, he couldn't help but wonder, was this something he could hear?!
