Chapter 82 Bite

Chapter 82 Bite

Nova stared at the red-robed lunatics, and the resistance that came from human instinct made him feel nauseous.

The other two Sons of Life skillfully cut open the "sacrifice's" chest, exposing its white ribs and the still-moving internal organs beneath, as if they were dissecting an animal rather than a human. But as he chanted, the professor keenly noticed that new granulations were growing at the edges of the sacrifice's wound at an abnormal rate.

The absurd and bloody religious rituals in the history books once again materialized before his eyes. He recalled the tragic scene of a heretic being publicly executed that he had witnessed, and the other party was just a mentally ill peasant woman - the only difference was probably that the victim this time was silent.

The flesh and blood of living people seemed to possess an inexplicable effect on the red-robed man. A sharp, shrill hiss erupted, sounding like layers of maniacal laughter and curses. The stench of blood was so thick it choked the noses. The victim, his chest gaping, knelt on the ground, his hands spread wide, staring up at the sky through two bloody holes. A thick blood mist gushed from his chest, covering the sky like an overwhelming force, and he howled as he rushed towards them again.

The figure of the one favored by God suddenly disappeared from the spot.

The next second, the figure appeared in the blood mist and grabbed the neck of the red-robed leader with one hand.

A sudden gust of wind blew, rocks trembled, and Nova felt the earth beneath his feet groan and tremble, as if enduring some extreme pain. The massive shockwave, like an explosion, generated by the opponent as the origin, made him lie down unconscious, and in the process, he grabbed the unconscious old driver.

But soon the surroundings became extremely quiet. Nova wiped the sand off his face, but the crooked lens reflected the face of a strange man with a frozen expression floating not far away - there was only a head, and the part below the head had disappeared without a trace, and the rest of the body turned into powder at a speed visible to the naked eye. Further away, there were only rapidly rotating, terrifying tiny particles, which made people ponder the specific composition of those particles.

——They were in the eye of a storm made of the flesh and blood of their enemies, and the only survivor was the red-robed man held in the hands of the savior.

The man's mask had fallen to the ground. His face was unusually mottled, his nose and lips had been shaved off by someone, leaving only two cloudy eyeballs with drastically shrunken pupils, revealing the fear that came from human instinct.

The red-robed man was suddenly pulled into the air by some invisible force. He opened his broken mouth, veins bulged on his neck and forehead, and he gasped in pain and labor. The one favored by God just stood there, staring at the disgusting body with a cold expression.

Sensing someone approaching, he glanced to his side and saw that although the other person's face was pale, his expression was calm and he showed no obvious fear or disgust.

"...His wounds have healed numerous times." The professor adjusted his glasses and tilted his head back. "Some of them would have been fatal under common sense."

"Perhaps because they have had so many opportunities to practice, the Child of Life's healing spells are renowned for their power." Another person sneered softly, "It's a shame they still can't bring the dead back to life."

The man in red robe was obviously very excited. He made strange noises and twisted his fingers to try to grab the two men.

"Professor?" The God-Favored One ignored his struggles, his tone suddenly becoming as gentle as usual—but in this situation, it only seemed more terrifying. "Could you please check these people's carriages? If you were in their shoes, you might be able to find some unexpected clues."

"I can check again later." Nova frowned disapprovingly when he noticed the guy trying to get him out of the way. "Besides, as you said, I can get far more information from this still-living guy than you can."

"I know these people, so the scene that follows will not be very pretty." The savior no longer concealed the coldness and bloodiness in the subtext.

"I don't mind."

"I do."

The other person's face was clearly not looking good, and his hands were also cold before - he still remembered the man's subconscious reaction when he was faced with the tragic corpse of the assassin in Pearl Sea Mansion.

"...Are you trying to disguise yourself in front of me?" The black-haired young man suddenly turned his head, looked him up and down with an extremely arrogant look, and emphasized the word "I".

"A friendly reminder: never, ever, ever make assumptions about me. It's completely foolish and useless, especially when you still need my wisdom." He sneered in disdain and added coldly, "Give up. I understand you far better than you think."

The other person stared at him intently, then suddenly his eyes softened and he quickly rubbed the back of his neck. Before the professor could react and start scolding him, the guy had already turned his gaze back to the unlucky guy in mid-air as if nothing had happened.

"Why are you attacking us?"

The other party remained silent, and the God-Favored One acted as if expecting this. Accompanied by a sudden, intensified gasp of pain, the red-robed man's outstretched hand began to crumble into powder inch by inch from the fingertips, revealing a fresh cross-section of bone and muscle, yet not a single drop of blood escaped.

"That's okay. I happen to be quite good at healing spells," he said with a relaxed tone, yet the words were chilling. "So before you give me the answer I want, I will make sure you stay awake and witness how you are dismembered bit by bit."

The savior then patiently began his work. Nova watched helplessly as the man's two arms and one thigh were gradually disassembled. When his internal organs began to gradually expose themselves to the air, the red-robed man seemed to finally be unable to bear it. Instead of screams and wails, he uttered a few trembling words.

"Respect, respect... respect..." His voice was weak and hoarse, almost indistinct, buried in the sound of the wind. The God-Favoured One frowned. The storm abruptly died down, leaving no trace of either the human or horse corpses.

Then the two of them clearly heard the almost inarticulate sigh from the red-robed man: "Respected, God of Storms... O tyrannical... fickle... Utoskar..."

Nova frowned in surprise, but the other man's face showed no emotion for the time being.

Although he had experienced long-term torture and his life was about to end, there was a kind of crazy and joyful light flashing in the eyes of the red-robed man, like boiling molten iron.

"We... ants, salute you—"

Nova was suddenly pulled into someone's arms, his head protected. Then he heard a popping sound like a balloon exploding—the remains of the red-robed man suddenly expanded from within, and the next second, it was completely blown to pieces.

"...According to the spell circuit, it's a forbidden contract technique." The God-Favored One, while protecting the people, took a light step back, avoiding the scattered human body fragments, but frowned slightly. "I've rarely seen these guys use it like this before."

“…Let go.”

The person in his arms ordered him coldly, and Azuka simply pretended not to hear it. He even lowered his head to sniff carefully, which immediately caused the other person to resist and struggle restlessly.

"Hiss - what are you crazy about again?!" A strange warm breath suddenly hit the sensitive side of his neck. The black-haired young man shuddered for a moment, then angrily tried to pull the guy's collar, but ended up grabbing a handful of cold and flexible hair, which got tangled between his fingers and was very annoying.

He now needed time and space to think about the words that were full of information, but being treated so intimately was enough to make his brain shut down temporarily, even for him.

...Could this guy have done this on purpose? Nova couldn't help but wonder with some suspicion.

"I'm suffocating from the smell of blood," the Savior grumbled to his nemesis, "Every time I deal with this group of people, I end up covered in the stench of death."

"Then I suggest you go to an open-air toilet," the villain said coldly. "The smell of human feces can quickly mask the lingering stench of corpses in your mouth and nose. It's an instinct etched in your genes. Even if you try your best to smell me for three days and three nights, it won't have any effect."

Azuka: “…”

He bit the neck, which was within his reach, neither too hard nor too light, as if to vent his anger, then quickly let go. This time, he succeeded in leaving a shallow tooth mark on the fragile, thin flesh, and he received a fierce punch aimed directly at the ribs, which he easily deflected.

"I warned you not to bite me." As soon as he was freed from the shackles, Nova immediately took a few steps back, glaring gloomily at the biting bastard. The strange emotion that made him particularly uneasy gave rise to a heart full of harsh venom, but he held it back.

"Sorry, I couldn't help it." The other person smiled at him with a hint of apology. It was a beautiful smile, and his beautiful eyebrows and eyes looked holy and innocent.

But the professor wasn't buying it. The man's inherent malice was becoming increasingly undisguised. "Last time you were expressing your affection, so what's your excuse this time?"

The man responded with a kind response: "It was just a small act of revenge caused by my impulsive behavior. Please be magnanimous and forgive me."

"Impulsive." The black-haired young man repeated the word expressionlessly. "Could it be that the last words left by the Child of Life shocked you so much that you abandoned your rationality and returned to your primitive state?"

Being rudely, even inhumanly, accused, the expression on the God's Favored One's face finally changed. When the gentle smile that had almost become one with the Savior disappeared, the strange calmness and majesty he exuded made him even more unbearable to look at directly.

But soon the faint sense of oppression also disappeared from the other party. The savior lowered his eyes slightly, sighed softly, and revealed a bit of fatigue and fragility.

"Really... I can't hide anything from you." He said with a wry smile.
