Chapter 10 At Work

When Jiang Mengxue went out, she saw a group of people carrying a door panel in.

A man was lying on it, his eyes closed and his hands covering his forehead, his head covered in blood.

Without caring about anything else, he asked the family to help carry the person to the emergency room and began to check the patient's condition.

I finally breathed a sigh of relief after a careful examination. Fortunately, it was only a superficial injury and no bones were hurt.

Clean the wound carefully. There are particles and dust on the wound, so you need to clean it carefully. Then apply medicine and bandage it. It will be done in about half an hour.

After the treatment, I walked out of the emergency room and saw my family members waiting at the door.

"Doctor, how is my man? Is it serious?"

"Doctor, how is my son? Can he wake up? You have no conscience. What kind of son did I give birth to? You brought back a troublemaker. If anything happens to my son, I will die."

The old lady pulled Jiang Mengxue to question her while crying so hard that she couldn't catch her breath.

"Don't worry, the patient only suffered minor injuries. The impact was severe enough to cause him to be temporarily unconscious. The wound has been treated, and as long as he's clear-headed, he's fine. However, it's a brain injury after all, so he needs to be observed in the hospital for a few days to make sure there are no sequelae before he can be discharged."

"The nurse will push the patient into the ward shortly. Please don't make a noise and disturb the patient's rest."

Li Lifen was still worried, so she followed Jiang Mengxue to the office.

"Sit down, don't be too nervous, there's nothing wrong with him, he'll probably wake up during the night."

"Doctor, will my man have any sequelae from hitting his head? Will he become a fool?"

It’s really hard to say. The brain is a complicated thing. The person hasn’t woken up yet. Jiang Mengxue doesn’t dare to make any guarantees in this situation?

"We can only know this after the patient wakes up. If they have lost too much blood, they can eat some pig liver to replenish their body."

After carefully explaining some precautions to the other party, Jiang Mengxue sent the patient's family away and then wrote the medical record in the office.

Li Fengjuan also walked in.

"Xiaoxue has finished checking the room, right?"

"Yeah..."

Before he could finish his words, someone outside started shouting for a doctor.

"Doctor, doctor, help!"

"Doctor Jiang, is Doctor Jiang here?"

Before Jiang Mengxue could walk out of the office, the head nurse rushed in.

"Doctor Jiang, a patient has arrived. His calf was scraped open by a sharp object, and the bone is almost exposed. I've sent him to the emergency room."

Jiang Mengxue ran out without saying a word.

"Sister Liu, go call Doctor Wang and Doctor Liang. I'm going to the emergency room now."

A group of people gathered outside the emergency room, still wearing their work clothes from the steel factory, and several of them had large bloodstains on their hands and bodies.

"Get out of the way, everyone, get out of the way, let me go in first."

"Doctor, how is my coworker? Can his leg be saved?"

A group of people surrounded Jiang Mengxue and chattered, making her yell anxiously.

"You all let me in. If you don't go and save people, their lives will be in danger."

The nurses in the emergency room have begun preparing medicines and tools.

Jiang Mengxue changed into sterile clothes and prepared to start the operation.

After a while, Dr. Liang also rushed over, but Dr. Wang was in the middle of surgery and couldn't leave.

Doctor Liang examined the patient's wound and found that the skin and flesh were turned outward, which was a horrific sight.

I saw that the nurse didn’t dare to look at the wound. It was so scary.

"Prepare for surgery."

"Okay, Doctor Liang."

Jiang Mengxue agreed and took out a silver needle for disinfection.

After a few injections near the wound, the bleeding slowed down significantly. Then Dr. Liang cleaned the wound.

Finally, Jiang Mengxue sutured the wound. Even though she had come into contact with all kinds of injuries before, it was still uncomfortable to see such a situation.

The operation was over at two o'clock in the afternoon.

After informing the family of precautions, the patient was sent to the ward and then handed over to the nurse.

After saying goodbye to Dr. Liang, he returned to the office and walked to the nurses' station to say hello to Nurse Wang Lili.

"Doctor Jiang, you haven't eaten yet? There's food left in the cafeteria. Why don't you go eat something now? Sister Liu is in the office. You should go eat something first."

"Hey, I'll go get the lunch box."

Jiang Mengxue was really hungry, so she went back to the office, took out a bag of biscuits from the wall bag and ate a few pieces.

Since Li Fengjuan was not at home, she took out a few small red bean paste buns from the space to fill her stomach.

I really couldn't take it anymore. I was already very hungry after not eating all morning, and surgery was a very strenuous job, so I grabbed my lunch box and went to the cafeteria.

Doctors usually don’t have time to perform surgery, so the hospital cafeteria usually leaves some food in the pot to ensure that doctors can have hot meals no matter what time they come.

"Doctor Jiang, why are you coming to eat at this hour? Are you performing another surgery?"

Cai Xiaohong, a canteen helper, said this while helping Jiang Mengxue get her meal.

"Yeah, I'm so hungry right after I finished cooking. Sister Cai, give me some more food."

"You little girl, my son is older than you, and you still call me Big Sister."

"Sister Cai, who made you look so young and beautiful? Who would have guessed you have a 20-year-old son? I think your son is only in elementary school."

Cai Xiaohong was so happy to be praised for her youth that she couldn't stop smiling. She couldn't help but add some extra juice to the rice she prepared for Jiang Mengxue.

"Doctor Jiang, eat quickly. If it's not enough, I'll give you another shot."

"Thank you, Sister Cai, for giving you a sweet mouth."

I stuffed two fruit candies into Cai Xiaohong's mouth.

During working hours, there might be patients coming to the office, so I have to finish my meal in the cafeteria.

A big lunch box full of rice, minced meat, eggplant, and fried cowpeas.

Today's food was very appetizing and we finished it all in no time.

After eating, she felt much more energetic, her waist and legs were no longer sore, and now she can run three kilometers without even getting out of breath.

I returned to the office thinking I could have a good rest, but unfortunately things did not go as I wished.

"Doctor Jiang, Doctor Ni has a family emergency and asked for leave. He wants you to take over the shift. He came here just now but couldn't find you, so he asked me to tell you."

Nurse Liu had just come out of the ward and saw that the office was open, so she came over to take a look. She saw that Jiang Mengxue had returned, so she came over to pass on a message.

Jiang Mengxue had been busy all morning and her mind was a little confused, but she didn't refuse.

It is normal for colleagues to cover for each other or help each other. When she took a few days off to go home, it was because other doctors accommodated her.

If a colleague has an urgent matter at home, she will of course lend a hand.

"Okay, then tell Sister Juan later. If there's anything urgent this afternoon, come find me upstairs."

After explaining everything to the nurse, he got up and went upstairs.

Jiang Mengxue's office is on the first floor, and emergency treatment is usually done in the office on the first floor.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Department was on the second floor, and the doctor who asked her to take over was Dr. Ni Hongxiang from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department.

Jiang Mengxue knows a little about both Chinese and Western medicine, having been exposed to both in school, and can handle simple minor ailments.

It’s no problem to help with the consultation during normal times. If there’s something I don’t understand, I’ll refer the patient to the old doctor next door, so it’s not too much of a hassle.

When I arrived at the office, someone was already waiting.

An old lady was holding a baby in her arms, the baby was still crying, and there were a few little kids around.
