Chapter 596 Parent-Child Time

It was not until Jiang Mengxue reminded them that Manman and Zhizhi realized that there was someone around them.

They looked up and saw Gu Qingbei looking at them affectionately.

If he hadn't been worried that the two children would be scared, he would have wanted to hold them in his arms the moment they met.

As a girl, Zhizhi is always careful and attentive, and she sees that Qingbei is standing so close to her mother.

And she also likes to stand in front of the photo wall at home and look at their family photos.

At first, she focused all her attention on Jiang Mengxue and ignored the other person next to her.

But now that she was reminded to look up, she recognized at a glance that this was her father.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that she has a deep impression of Gu Qingbei, or that she remembers things from her childhood.

She is simply more attentive and remembers every detail of every person in the photo.

However, she was still a little unfamiliar with seeing the real person, so even though she recognized him, she still hid timidly beside Jiang Mengxue, hugging her thighs tightly and not daring to move.

Jiang Mengxue naturally sensed the change in her daughter. She squatted down, stared at Zhizhi, and asked, "Did Zhizhi recognize him? Aren't you going to call him?"

Zhizhi felt a little embarrassed by their stares. She glanced at Gu Qingbei again and shyly hid in Jiang Mengxue's arms.

He whispered, "I know, it's Dad."

The voice was a little soft, but Gu Qingbei, who was always paying attention to her, heard it immediately.

Feeling a little excited, he immediately squatted down and wanted to respond to his precious daughter, but he didn't know what to say for a moment.

Jiang Mengxue didn't laugh at him, but reminded Ruirui and signaled him to call for help.

Although I didn't react at first, I remembered it after Zhizhi called out "Dad".

"dad?

Is it really Daddy who is back?"

Manman was a little bit unbelievable. In his memory, his father only existed on the other end of the phone and often wrote letters to them.

He had only seen his father in the photos he had received, but he had never seen him in person. Sometimes he wondered if he really had a father. Why couldn't his father be with him? He never came back to see them.

But he didn't completely forget his childhood memories, they were just becoming more and more vague.

But as he grew older, he also realized that his parents, as soldiers, had their own responsibilities.

It is normal for a soldier to not be able to go home for a few years, just like grandparents live in the same city as them, but they have few opportunities to meet every month.

Occasionally, grandma would come to visit them and take them to live in the compound.

But they rarely see their grandfather. They only know that he is either working or on business trips to other cities.

We also learned from Grandpa Zhang’s story that soldiers have their duties.

If they initially blame their parents for not being able to come back to spend more time with them, this thought may turn into admiration as they grow up.

He knew that his father was very capable. As an officer, he was in charge of many soldiers. This was something that only a very capable person could do. He also wanted to become a person like his father when he grew up.

So when he realized that the person standing in front of him was his father, he wanted to jump three feet high.

Gu Qingbei felt relieved in his heart, at least his son was still willing to pay attention to him.

As a little girl, the girl is naturally closer to her mother. They can only get familiar with each other slowly in the future, and he is not in a hurry.

Gu Qingbei held Manman in his arms. Even though the ten-year-old boy was not short anymore, he was still small in the arms of the tall Gu Qingbei.

Manman was very excited at first, but when he was suddenly held in his father's arms, he was still a little shy.

After all, they are already such a big kid, and they are not used to being held by adults.

They didn't have to wait long. After a few minutes, Baobao walked out of the school gate holding Nao Nao's collar.

"Naonao, Baobao, we are here, look who's here."

Manman was so excited that he waved his hands vigorously in Gu Qingbei's arms, trying to get his two younger brothers to notice him.

Gu Qingbei was tall, and the two of them noticed him as soon as they walked out of the school gate, but it was not until Manman spoke that they realized that the person in the arms was their brother.

"That wouldn't be Dad, would it?"

Bao Bao said in a low voice.

"Mom, you're here to pick us up."

But unfortunately, Nao Nao only saw his mother and immediately ran over excitedly.

Bao Bao could only follow behind helplessly, but his eyes were always on Gu Qingbei and he had already recognized him.

Although he is the youngest in the family, no one can compare to him in terms of thoughtfulness.

Jiang Mengxue gave Gu Qingbei a helpless look and could only lead a few guys to the entrance of the junior high school.

Manman also struggled to jump down, pulling Nao Nao and Bao Bao and shouting excitedly: "Hey, what are you two doing? This is daddy, he just hugged me."

Normally, they spoke very intimately to Gu Qingbei when writing letters or making phone calls, but they felt a little shy when they met again after several years.

Gu Qingbei was so sad that even the toughest man couldn't help but have tears in his eyes. He wanted to never be separated from his family again.

When he was a child, he had experienced living away from his parents in his hometown for many years. Even though he had all the love from his grandparents and his second uncle and aunt, it was different from the fatherly and motherly love that the child longed for.

But after he went through all this, he let his children have the same experience as him.

When children need their parents' love the most, they only care about their own careers and ignore it.

But he also hopes to climb as high as he can.
