Gu Chaoyan, dressed in military uniform and looking exhausted, got out of the jeep and ran towards the hospital elevator.
He received a call early in the morning that his sister was about to give birth, so he took a leave of absence and rushed over.
Maybe he was too anxious and didn't notice the girl sitting in the corner, holding a pile of folders and thinking about something.
The two of them had their own thoughts and accidentally bumped into each other when turning.
A large bundle of folders fell to the ground. Wang Jinyu was startled and quickly squatted down to pick them up. These were all very important documents and it would be very troublesome if they were damaged or dirty.
Gu Chaoyan knew that he was too impatient, so he squatted down to help pick it up.
The girl was wearing a white coat, and Gu Chaoyan glanced at the work badge on her chest.
She is not a hospital staff member, but a researcher at some research institute.
"I'm sorry, I'm in a hurry. Where are you going? I'll help you carry all these things."
Wang Jinyu was originally very nervous. Although these materials were not a big secret, they could not be taken out of the laboratory and seen by outsiders.
However, seeing Gu Chaoyan in his military uniform, it was obvious that her worries were unnecessary.
"It's okay, I was distracted. I can do it myself. Thank you for your help."
As he said that, he took the folder from Gu Chaoyan's hand and walked away.
Gu Chaoyan wanted to say something more, but when he thought of his sister who was giving birth, he didn't have the heart to think about it.
Maybe the baby was delayed on the way. Could it be that the baby had already been wrapped up and carried out by the nurse outside the delivery room?
He just felt it was very novel. It was his first time to touch a newborn baby. It was so small, only the size of his palm.
The nurse handed the baby to his arms, but he only dared to hold it with both hands for fear of bumping it.
When he came out of the hospital, he still felt it was unbelievable. How could there be such a small baby in the world? It was so scary.
"Chao Yan? Why are you here?"
Gu Chaoyan heard a familiar voice and turned around to see that it was the hospital director, with the girl he had met that morning standing next to him.
"Dean Du, my sister gave birth today, I came to see her."
Du Yuanzheng is very familiar with Jiang Mengxue. Gu Chaoyan has seen them several times and is quite familiar with them.
"Really? I've been staying at the research institute lately and I really didn't know. So your mother is here too? I was planning to introduce one of my students to her. I'll go find her soon."
As he spoke, he remembered that he had not introduced the two of them.
"Oh, this is my student, Wang Jinyu, who's engaged in virus research." He then said to Wang Jinyu, "This is Captain Gu. His mother is the Doctor Jiang I told you about. She's very knowledgeable about pharmaceuticals. If I have time these days, I'll introduce you to her."
Wang Jinyu didn't expect it to be such a coincidence. She smiled and nodded as a greeting.
When Gu Chaoyan returned home, he was still thinking about that smile.
In the next few days, I would occasionally recall our meeting.
He is a person with strong execution ability. Once he figures out his idea, he will get it done immediately.
Never put off until the next day what you can do today.
Gu Chengan has been discharged from the hospital, so Gu Chaoyan has no excuse to go to the hospital.
However, he remembered that Dean Du wanted to introduce Wang Jinyu to Jiang Mengxue, so he decisively changed his target and wanted to get some information from Jiang Mengxue.
Jiang Mengxue said everything she should and shouldn't say without thinking. Looking at Gu Chaoyan turning away thoughtfully, she smiled mysteriously.
The research institute where Wang Jinyu works is not far from the hospital, even just across the street.
Gu Chaoyan deliberately stopped at the door, intending to wait for the people inside to come out after get off work.
The management here is very strict. Not only are there soldiers standing guard at the door, but there is also a team of patrol personnel every ten minutes or so. Not even a fly can fly in, let alone a toad.
If it weren't for the fact that his license plate showed he was from the military, he would have been questioned long ago if he had parked here.
Wang Jinyu was getting off work and preparing to go home as usual.
My mind was still thinking about the experiments I had done during the day and the report I had to write when I got home, and I didn't notice a familiar military jeep parked on the side of the road.
Gu Chaoyan had noticed long ago that Wang Jinyu was walking out slowly. She was as dazed as when they first met. She was only thinking about things the whole time and didn't even look at the road.
It wasn't until he realized the road ahead was blocked that he came to his senses.
"Is it you?"
Because they both knew each other, Gu Chaoyan easily gained Wang Jinyu's trust.
Wang Jinyu's high IQ doesn't mean she has a low EQ. How could someone with a very high IQ be so ignorant of the ways of the world? As long as she was willing to think, she could easily discover Gu Chaoyan's purpose.
It's just that she doesn't dislike Gu Chaoyan.
Wang Jinyu's family is also a military family. Her grandfather is a veteran of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and her parents are engaged in scientific research.
The two of them were only focused on their work and gave birth to Wang Jinyu when they were nearly 40 years old.
After she was born, they left her to be taken care of by her grandparents, while they returned to work.
It seemed as if giving birth to her was just to complete a task, but Wang Jinyu was precocious and did not crave the love of either parent.
On the contrary, she prefers to be alone and likes to be alone when she goes to school because she thinks her classmates of the same age are too childish.
She could even get such simple questions wrong, and the games she played were so childish that she had no interest in them at all.
It would be better to look up the dictionary and read extracurricular books more often.
When she was in elementary school, she could memorize several Chinese and foreign dictionaries at home and knew which word was on which page.
Her favorite game is to draw a random word from the book and then go directly to the page with that word in the dictionary.
