Chapter 7 Work

Naturally, my brothers and sisters wouldn't say anything, and my sisters-in-law had no objections either. It didn't cost them money, and it would be good for everyone in the family if my sister-in-law had a successful career.

What's more, the school provides subsidies after going to college, and I can occasionally send some back.

Now that I have become a regular employee, my salary is 55 yuan, plus various subsidies, which is almost 64 yuan. Doctors have a high income at any time.

Now I pay twenty yuan home every month.

Jiang Mengxue did not say the specific salary amount. She did not want to make the gap between her and everyone else too big. It is not good to be too prominent.

After all, temporary workers and apprentices in the city only earn a dozen yuan a month, and regular workers earn around thirty yuan.

As a top student, Jiang Mengxue's salary would be higher, but no one knew the exact amount, and she didn't tell her family much about it.

So they felt that giving twenty yuan to the family every month was a lot. After all, Jiang Mengxue had to spend money on eating and other things in the city, so she always had to keep a few yuan in her hands.

Jiang Mengxue was of course happy to see their idea come true.

It’s not that Jiang Mengxue is unwilling to give money to her family. If her parents need anything, or if her brothers and sisters have difficulties, she will help even if she doesn’t borrow money.

But it is impossible to expect her to make selfless contributions and hand over the bulk of her monthly salary to the government.

However, the sisters-in-law at home are easy to get along with. The eldest sister-in-law has a generous personality and is very much like the eldest sister-in-law. She usually takes good care of Jiang Mengxue.

She has been attending college for the past few years and has received subsidies from the school, so her family doesn't have to pay for her education, and her brothers' families don't have to support her, so they have no objections to her.

Among the other two sisters-in-law in the family, the second sister-in-law is gentle in nature. The second brother is the head of the family and is also quite nice to Jiang Mengxue.

My third brother’s sister-in-law has a straightforward personality and is about 1.7 meters tall. My third brother usually doesn’t dare to provoke her because he can’t beat her.

My third sister-in-law has four older brothers and her family is well-off. She has been following her brothers around since she was a child, and most boys have never been able to beat her.

After they got married, they took good care of Jiang Mengxue. She had a boyish personality since she was a child and wanted a soft and cute little sister.

Every time she went back, her sisters-in-law would suggest giving her the fine grains that had been saved at home for a long time. So during the years that Jiang Mengxue was in college, every time she sent something home, she would prepare a separate portion for her sisters-in-law.

When I go home during the holidays, in addition to giving money to my parents, I also bring snacks such as candy and biscuits to my sisters-in-law.

Generally speaking, although there are some minor conflicts among the family, they are not a big deal and the relationship is pretty good.

My eldest sister married in the county. Her brother-in-law Chen Hua is a worker in a furniture factory. After they got married, he found a temporary job for my sister in the supply and marketing cooperative, and she has now been hired as a regular employee.

Now all the older brothers and sisters are married, and only Jiang Mengxue and Jiang Mengran are still unmarried. The family members have said it several times, both explicitly and implicitly, to bring them home to meet the right person, as it would not be good to wait until they are older.

As the eldest of the only two unmarried people in the family, Jiang Mengxue not only had a headache, but also pain all over her body.

If she came here to face pressure to get married, she still wants to go back. At least there is no pressure to get married now, and she has no elders to urge her.

Thinking of this, Jiang Mengxue decided not to think about it anymore and just go to sleep to feel at ease.

He took out a bowl of millet porridge and small steamed buns from the space and ate them. The dinner had already been digested.

After dinner, I took a fever-reducing pill, wrapped myself tightly in the quilt and prepared to go back to sleep.

The bed has become warm, so it's enough to sweat.

I don’t know how long I slept, but I was woken up by a knock on the door.

“Knock, knock, knock…”

"Who is it?"

Jiang Mengxue was still dazed at the moment, her whole body limp and she didn't want to get up.

"I'm your sister Fengjuan. Mengxue, are you still awake? I saw you didn't go to work this morning, so I came to see you."

"Sorry, Sister Fengjuan, I had a slight fever last night, and my head is still dizzy now."

Jiang Mengxue got up, opened the door to let Li Fengjuan in, closed the door and went back to bed.

"What's wrong with you? Why do you have a fever?"

Li Fengjuan saw that Jiang Mengxue's face looked not very good, and there was some worry on her face.

Jiang Mengxue smiled and said, "Sister Fengjuan, I'm fine. I just read for too long in the office last night and got a little cold. I'm much better now after taking some medicine."

"I think you should get some rest. The hospital isn't busy lately anyway. I'll go back later and ask for leave from the director. You can come back to work when you're better."

"Thank you, Sister Fengjuan. I'll go to work as soon as I'm well this afternoon. If the hospital is busy, please send someone to call me."

"Okay, but don't push yourself. If you feel uncomfortable, just rest more. You know our hospital doesn't have many patients a day, and we're busy enough to handle it. Okay, I'm relieved to know you're okay. I'm going back now, you should have a good rest."

After seeing Li Fengjuan off, Jiang Mengxue lay down and continued to sleep. She had taken medicine in the early morning and was woken up after only a few hours of sleep. She was still sleepy now.

Jiang Mengxue woke up at about ten o'clock.

I was sweating all over because of the fever, so I took out a basin of hot water from the space and simply washed myself.

He took out the underwear from the space and put it on, then put on the original owner's shirt and black pants, and a blue jacket on the outside.

It's only late September now, but it's already a bit cold in the mornings and evenings. According to Jiang Mengxue's physique, she needs to wear a thin cotton jacket in the morning and evening.

I didn’t dare wash my hair right after I recovered from my illness. If I accidentally got caught in a gust of wind and then fell ill again, I would be doomed.

I didn’t eat anything heavy at noon. I just had a few steamed buns and a bowl of millet porridge.

At two o'clock in the afternoon, during work hours, I packed some cookies and snacks in my messenger bag and went to the hospital.

The house where Jiang Mengxue lives is not far from the hospital, and they used to be a wealthy family.

This area is inhabited by workers from nearby factories, and the houses are allocated by the street.

It is not easy to get such a good house. Fortunately, she acted quickly, otherwise it would not be her turn.

As soon as an engineer from the steel plant was transferred, Jiang Mengxue came to ask about it, and those with large families in the yard also kept their eyes on these two rooms.

But Jiang Mengxue is a top university graduate, so as long as she wants it, she will of course be given priority, and no one else dares to do anything.

At this time, people were working, people were studying, and those who had nothing to do were taking a nap at home, so I didn’t meet many people along the way.

It took about ten minutes to walk to the hospital.

"Doctor Jiang."

"Doctor Jiang, are you well now? Are you coming to work right now?"

"Yeah, it's much better now."

On the way to the office, people greeted her and Jiang Mengxue responded with a smile and a nod.

When I arrived at the office, Li Fengjuan, who worked in the same office, was already sitting at the desk looking at documents.

"Mengxue, you're here for work now? Are you feeling better?"

"Much better, Sister Fengjuan. Is there a lot of people this morning? Here, take it back for the child to eat."

As he said this, he took out two small red apples from his bag and placed them on Li Fengjuan's desk.
