Chapter 11 The Secret Realm of Chaolong (Part 11)
Unfortunately, even spitting blood couldn't soften Jiang Gu's heart in the slightest.
When Jiang Gu tried to throw him back into the spirit pet pouch, Wei Feng clung to the tree trunk and refused, shouting fiercely, "Even if my soul is scattered, I will never go back in! Go ahead and kill me if you dare!"
A flash of murderous intent crossed Jiang Gu's eyes.
Wei Feng was a little scared. He swallowed hard and tried to struggle one more time. "I'm so weak. There's no use in me being a puppet. I'd rather be your furnace..."
His last sentence was mumbled, but Jiang Gu heard it. He gave him a cold and critical look, and that one glance was enough to enrage Wei Feng. "What are you looking at?!"
"I wouldn't even take someone like you for free." Jiang Gu grabbed the back of his neck and knocked him unconscious, then threw him into the spirit pet pouch.
There are better ways, but Wei Feng's merman aura is too obvious, making him too easy for Qing Du to find. Moreover, having him in the fight is a hindrance and a nuisance. Throwing him in is the best of both worlds.
Besides the fact that there is too little air in the bag, Wei Feng cannot hold his breath like a spirit pet, so he must be taken out to air out every now and then.
The secret realm will not open its exit for the first time for ten days. Along the way, more and more cultivators are chasing after him, and Jiang Gu's injuries have become even more severe before they can heal.
However, this kind of situation is commonplace for him.
Under the cover of darkness, Jiang Gu kicked aside the corpse in front of him, carrying a blood-dripping sword. The mid-stage avatar cultivator, who was at the same cultivation level as him, was now just half a skeleton. He scanned the other's storage bag with his divine sense and picked out two barely usable magic treasures to put away.
Then, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of the quiet storage bag at my waist.
Jiang Gu glanced at the time, opened the bag, and let the person out to get some fresh air.
The boy, covered in blood, was curled up on the ground, his lips were purple and his breathing was weak. His fingernails were split open and turned outward from scratching the storage bag, and his arms were covered with scratches.
Like a little beast that refuses to be tamed no matter what.
Jiang Gu frowned as he looked at it.
He knew that it was uncomfortable to be in a spirit pet pouch, but when he was young, he had lived in a spirit pet pouch for three months to save his life. The small, dark, and confined space could easily drive a person to the brink of collapse, but it was not unbearable.
Wei Feng stayed inside for less than three hours.
Jiang Gu reached out and lifted the boy's back, then used a water-drawing spell to wash him and fed him some water before the boy finally opened his eyes with difficulty.
The moment she saw him, her eyes turned fierce, and then she bit his wrist with lightning speed.
Sharp teeth pierced through the thin skin, and blood flowed down Wei Feng's lips into his neck, leaving several crimson stains.
"Let go." Jiang Gu didn't even blink, as if he wasn't the one being bitten at all.
Wei Feng bit down harder, as if he wanted to swallow him whole, skin and all.
Jiang Gu grabbed his chin, bent his middle finger at the knuckle and pressed it against his throat. Wei Feng instantly cried out in pain and released his grip, but then coughed violently from choking on the blood.
Jiang Gu glanced at the bloody teeth marks on his wrist, then at Wei Feng's near-coughing-to-death state, took a deep breath, and placed his palm on Wei Feng's back, channeling some spiritual energy into him.
Wei Feng caught his breath instantly and stared at him warily.
Jiang Gu had just finished killing someone, with a few drops of blood still splattered on his chin and his violent aura still lingering. He took a fasting pill and handed it to Wei Feng's lips, saying, "Eat it."
This wasn't a plea. He grabbed Wei Feng's chin, pinched the pill between two fingers, and shoved it down his throat. Before Wei Feng could react, the pill had already turned into spiritual energy and vanished without a trace.
However, Jiang Gu couldn't pull his finger out; the kid bit down on the base of his finger like a dog biting a bone.
Jiang Gu originally intended to dislocate his jaw, but suddenly a small luminous pearl hit the back of his hand, and the words that were about to come out of his mouth changed inexplicably, "If you behave, I'll let you stay outside."
Wei Feng hesitated for a moment before relenting, his voice hoarse as he asked, "Really?"
"Only if you obey," Jiang Gu said patiently.
Wei Feng recalled the dark and cramped space and wisely softened his voice, "Okay, I'll be obedient."
A true man can bend and stretch, and a gentleman's revenge is never too late. Sooner or later, he will make that bastard pay back with interest!
Jiang Gu didn't care how fierce he was in his heart. He walked to the side and set up a barrier for himself. He said to Wei Feng, "I need to meditate for half an hour. You stay outside and keep watch."
"Okay." Wei Feng got up from the ground, wiped the blood off his lips with the back of his hand, and couldn't help but look at Jiang Gu's wrist.
The bloody teeth marks stood out starkly against the pale skin.
Serves them right.
Wei Feng gritted his teeth and turned to get away from him, but after taking two steps, he suddenly stepped on something sticky. He looked closely and saw that under his feet was a blurry mass of flesh and blood, and a few steps away was half of a skeletal skeleton.
The moonlight shone down like icing sugar. Wei Feng slowly looked up and saw an endless expanse of blood in the woods, with dozens of corpses lying scattered about.
His scalp tingled, and he walked forward numbly, his back stiff, not daring to look back at Jiang Gu even once.
This is no righteous cultivator; he's clearly a ruthless demon who kills without blinking an eye!
But when he saw the storage bags scattered all over the ground, he instantly forgot his fear.
Dozens of storage bags, brimming with pills, talismans, spirit stones, and magical treasures!
Wei Feng cautiously glanced back at Jiang Gu and found that the other was meditating with his eyes closed. His courage, which had been frightened away, began to recover. He was no longer afraid of those severed limbs and squatted down to collect the storage bags. He stuffed all kinds of things into his waist pouch, including high-grade spirit stones, low-grade gold and silver, pills, porcelain bottles and rare materials.
Especially those magical artifacts that look quite powerful; they might be able to help him escape the clutches of evil sooner.
Jiang Gu opened his eyes after taking a deep breath and saw the boy, whom he had just washed clean, scavenging things from the pile of corpses, all of which were useless junk.
Wei Feng was happily picking things up when a familiar, cold voice suddenly rang out from behind him, "What are you doing picking these up?"
Wei Feng was startled. He sat down on the ground with the pile of spirit stones in his arms and chuckled dryly, "Senior, if you don't want these things, we can't let others have them, right? Anyway, if I pick them up, they're yours."
Jiang Gu opened one hand to him.
"..." Wei Feng's smile froze, and after a moment he reluctantly handed over the spirit stone in his hand.
Jiang Gu did not take it back.
Wei Feng felt stifled and grabbed the two bulging storage bags from his waist and put them in his hands.
Jiang Gu still didn't move.
"It's really gone." Wei Feng looked up at him expectantly.
"Medicines," Jiang Gu said calmly.
Wei Feng ground his back teeth, then pulled a larger storage bag from his sleeve and slapped it into his hand.
Jiang Gu then withdrew his hand and, right in front of him, took all the fruits of his labor from the past half hour.
Wei Feng's heart was bleeding, and he followed behind him listlessly like a wilted eggplant.
Jiang Gu looked down on these things, otherwise he wouldn't have left them on the ground unattended. But this brat always liked to eat pills indiscriminately, and he was afraid that the brat would eat them to death before he could even get the scales. Also—
Wei Feng's angry but speechless expression was quite amusing.
However, the other party won't stay quiet for long.
Wei Feng was already traumatized by the stone tablet and the merman statue; a tickling sensation began to creep through his bones again. "Senior, what are we doing back here? Aren't they... chasing you?"
“The more dangerous the place, the safer it is.” Jiang Gu led him into the stone tablet, a barely perceptible smile playing on his lips. “Besides, your heart-protecting scales grow faster in water.”
Wei Feng followed behind him, unable to see his expression, but he felt a chill run down his spine. He struggled weakly, saying, "I'm really not some divine shark. I'm even looking for divine shark scales to cure my illness. If I had a heart-protecting scale—"
Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Gu, who was walking ahead, suddenly turned around, and a dagger formed from spiritual energy ripped open Wei Feng's shirt. Wei Feng felt a chill on his chest, and he quickly crossed his arms to shield himself, stammering nervously, "What are you doing?! Didn't you say you wouldn't even take it for free?!"
"..." Jiang Gu glanced at him and pulled his arm away. "Can't you feel it yourself?"
Wei Feng followed his gaze downwards with a puzzled look and saw a patch of silver-blue scales on his chest, with faint red edges. However, it appeared that a small part of it was still buried under the skin and flesh and had not fully grown out.
"What is this?" Wei Feng's voice trembled slightly.
"Heart-protecting scales," Jiang Gu said. "Scales have already started growing on your lower back."
Wei Feng reached down to his lower back and, sure enough, felt the soft, fine scales of a shark. His face paled at first, then he was suddenly overjoyed. "I can still grow scales, which means I wasn't turned into a puppet by you at all!"
He clenched his fist with obvious delight, "The place I was imprisoned in wasn't Wufang Stone at all!"
"Hmm, very clever." Jiang Gu turned around expressionlessly. "After all, we have to wait until we get the Heart-Protecting Scale before we can refine it."
Wei Feng's smile froze instantly. Seeing that he was about to walk away, he hurriedly followed, exuding a cheerful aura. "Senior, you see, I'm so weak that even if I refine the Boundless Stone, it won't be of much use. How about this, I'll give you the Heart-Protecting Scale, and you can spare my life and cover for me. What do you think?"
"Not very good." Jiang Gu reached out and pushed away the head that was leaning in, then stopped.
"Forward—" Wei Feng had no choice but to stop as well, and was immediately stunned by the scene before him.
On the soft, damp sand, a huge spirit beast lay weakly in a pool of blood. Its limbs had been crushed, its throat had been cut by a sharp blade, and its abdomen had a large, bloody hole, clearly indicating that its beast core had been taken. Yet it was still struggling to breathe, and when it saw Jiang Gu, it wagged its tail with difficulty, but could not make a sound.
It's Utuo.
Wei Feng had seen its transformed form before and recognized it at a glance, "U-Tuo!"
He often heard Jiang Gu call it that.
Utuo responded with a hum.
Jiang Gu's face remained expressionless as he channeled some spiritual energy into it.
"Thank you... Master." Wu Tuo's weak voice echoed in the water, "It was my incompetence that I failed... to hold Zhou Xiuyuan back."
"You did a good job," Jiang Gu said calmly.
Utuo grinned, as if he were smiling, "Master... please, give Utuo a quick death..."
Jiang Gu flipped his wrist, and a snow-white longsword appeared in his palm.
Wei Feng glanced at the dying Wu Tuo, then at Jiang Gu approaching with a sword in hand. He rushed forward and stood in front of Wu Tuo, shouting, "Senior, it... it can still be saved!"
Even if it was only on its last breath, Jiang Gu's cultivation was so high that saving it would be as simple as moving a finger. Wei Feng had seen others in the sect save spirit beasts, and they could even save the souls of the beasts.
But Jiang Gu wanted to kill his own spirit pet.
"Get out of my way." Jiang Gu's expression turned cold.
“Kid, get away…” Wu Tuo said weakly, “My meridians are all destroyed, and my beast core has been dug out. If I survive, I’ll only be wasting Master’s spiritual power… I’d be happy to die at Master’s hands…”
"But you became like this because you were helping him!" Wei Feng stretched out his arms, refusing to give way. He looked at Jiang Gu with some anger, "How can you be so heartless and ungrateful?"
Jiang Gu looked at him coldly, "You can't even take care of yourself now, yet you still have the mind to care about a beast."
“It’s not an animal. It helped me catch fish, gave me fasting pills, and even shared water-repelling bubbles with me…” Wei Feng listed them one by one, but when he met Jiang Gu’s gaze, he couldn’t help but feel scared. His momentum suddenly diminished by three points, and he said weakly, “Even if you don’t want to save it, you don’t have to kill it, do you?”
Jiang Gu glanced at Wu Tuo, who guiltily looked away. It swore that it had only done these things because it was bored and had absolutely no intention of doing anything good.
"Whatever." Jiang Gu couldn't understand the thoughts of these fools, so he sheathed his sword and turned to leave.
With its spiritual energy dissipated, the enormous beast lying on the ground shrank back to the size of a palm. Wei Feng knelt down, picked up the dying little creature, and held it in his arms, giving it a little bit of his meager spiritual energy.
"You don't actually need to save me," Wu Tuo said in a low voice. "Even if I survive, I'll just be a useless piece of trash."
"What's wrong with being a waste?" Wei Feng asked doubtfully. "At least you're still alive."
“What’s the point of living like this?” Utuo asked.
Wei Feng carried it forward, saying, "Isn't the point of living to eat, drink, and have fun? Even just basking in the sun is good enough."
"Aren't you afraid that your master will turn you into a puppet?" Wu Tuo asked.
“I’ve actually thought about this seriously the whole way,” Wei Feng said, lowering his head with a serious expression and whispering in its ear, “If I’m turned into a puppet, I won’t be locked in a dark room, I won’t have to attend classes or cultivate, and even if I die, it will only be a matter of a moment for someone as weak as me. Isn’t that pretty good?”
Wu Tuo stared wide-eyed in shock, his previously instilled ideas in him by Jiang Gu momentarily shaken.
So, are there really people in the world willing to live like a useless person?
"But I still really hate your master." Wei Feng poked its furry cheek. "How about you become my spirit pet? I'm rich. I'll take you out to play every day, build you a cave where you can roll around in your true form, buy you pills, snacks, and toys, and hire ten pretty girls to massage and groom you every day. What do you say?"
Utaku... Utaku shamefully fell for him.
Jiang Gu, who was walking in front, turned around and gave them a cold look.
Wei Feng immediately shut his mouth and ran towards him, carrying the blood-soaked Wu Tuo.
Jiang Gu lowered his eyes. This was the first time in his life that he had done something unnecessary—leaving a useless spirit pet by his side.
Moreover, this was done while he was seriously injured.
Wu Tuo, who was being held in Wei Feng's arms, struggled to lift his head and gently licked the wound on his wrist.
Both the human and the beast stared intently with clear, innocent eyes, carefully observing his reaction.
Jiang Gu frowned, subtly covering his wrist with his sleeve, and said stiffly, "I'm leaving."
