Chapter 175 Misty Rain Eight Pavilions (Part 3)
The snow-white hem of her dress cut through the mist above the pool. Jiang Gu fastened her belt and looked coldly at the young man kneeling by the pool.
He never imagined that one day he would be influenced by others, let alone that one day he would be confused and half-heartedly engage in spiritual communion with someone.
And this person is Wei Feng.
A raging fire swept over every inch of his reason. For him, this was not just a spiritual connection, but a challenge to his authority and dignity as a superior. For a moment, he almost couldn't suppress his murderous intent.
Wei Feng knelt upright, his head bowed, not daring to look at Jiang Gu, biting his lip tightly as he endured the punishment.
Jiang Gu glanced at him coldly, turned and left. Wei Feng panicked, crawled over and grabbed his leg from behind, crying out in alarm, "Master!"
In his panic, he grabbed Jiang Gu's robe tightly, his hands trembling violently. He stammered, "Master, I was wrong! I was disrespectful and disobedient! You can punish me as you please! But please don't abandon me... I... I really can't think of any other way, Master, please, please don't be angry..."
He clung tightly to Jiang Gu, afraid he would leave, yet too afraid to stand up for fear of angering him. His voice was trembling with sobs as he begged him, his whole body shaking with fear.
"Get up," Jiang Gu said coldly.
"I don't... Master, don't go." Wei Feng cried so hard he could barely contain himself. He tried his best to steady his breathing, hugging her even tighter. "Your primordial spirit is so badly injured and you're about to break through. What good way is there? I don't want you to die, Master. It's my fault. I can't think of a better way. Don't leave me..."
Jiang Gu took a deep breath, grabbed the back of his neck, and with a burst of spiritual power, tore the man off his body. He forced the man to stand up and said in a deep voice, "Stop crying."
Wei Feng struggled to suppress his unsteady breathing, his eyes red and brimming with tears as he looked down at him.
This scene is truly outrageous. He was clearly audacious enough to force Jiang Gu into a spiritual connection, yet now he's holding back tears, looking as if he's been bullied terribly by Jiang Gu.
Jiang Gu's lips moved slightly, but he was unusually at a loss for words. He let go of her hand and tried to leave, but Wei Feng's tears fell down. He hugged her and tried to kneel down again.
"Stand still!" Jiang Gu shouted sternly.
Wei Feng shuddered in fright, stood up straight, cautiously looked up at him, and said in a sticky voice, "Master."
His hair and clothes were soaked by the water of Tianchi Lake, clinging pitifully to his body. His face was frighteningly pale, but the corners of his eyes were red. His face was streaked with tears, and he cried out for his master in a sobbing voice. He looked completely improper.
Jiang Gu frowned even more, made a hand seal to dry him off, and said coldly, "Shut up."
Wei Feng shut his mouth in fear and unease, not daring to touch his hand, only daring to grab his sleeve. If his ghostly markings hadn't covered the entire cave, blocking Jiang Gu's path, it would have looked even more believable.
“I told you I had a way.” Jiang Gu pulled his sleeve out of his hand, frowning. “If you dare to act on your own again—”
"I won't do it, Master." Wei Feng hurriedly grabbed his hand.
The scalding hot touch felt somewhat unfamiliar to Jiang Gu.
"There will be no next time," he said coldly.
It's a fact that Wei Feng and he have a spiritual connection, and it's indeed more effective than his methods. Ultimately, it's because his willpower wasn't strong enough that he was influenced by Wei Feng. There's no need to waste time dwelling on such matters.
The anger that had not yet subsided was forcibly suppressed, along with the inexplicable unease that welled up from the bottom of his heart.
Wei Feng looked up in disbelief, then exclaimed with delight, "Master, you've forgiven me? Don't worry, Master, I really just wanted to..."
"Let's go back." Jiang Gu put away the Heavenly Pool and transformed into a stream of light as he left the cave.
Wei Feng hurriedly followed. He hadn't expected that Jiang Gu would neither hit nor scold him for what he had done. In fact, his reaction was surprisingly calm. For a moment, he was even dazed, wondering if his master... also had a tiny bit of affection for him.
A surge of joy rushed through his chest, and he could barely contain the ecstasy in his eyes. He quickened his pace and chased after Jiang Gu back to the Xiao residence.
Then reality gave me a cold shower.
The tightly closed door, heavily secured, completely blocked his path.
Wei Feng was about to push the door open when he heard Jiang Gu's cold voice coming from inside the room, "Go next door to heal your wounds."
Wei Feng didn't want to go. He opened his mouth, but in the end, he didn't continue to pester them. He was already incredibly lucky not to be kicked out. He shouldn't go and get in his way until his master's anger subsided.
Thinking this, he dejectedly pushed open the door to the next room. The unfamiliar room was empty, without a trace of Jiang Gu's presence. Wei Feng sniffed, his eyes stinging.
He silently reassured himself that his master had calmed down.
However, Jiang Gu was so engrossed in healing that he lost track of day and night. For seven or eight days, there was no movement from the room next door. During this time, Wei Feng tried to use the same trick to blend in as ordinary mist, but without exception, he was blocked by the newly replaced magic array.
The sun shines brightly, and birds sing amidst the fragrance of flowers.
Jiang Xiangyun, who was lying on the roof sunbathing, raised an eyebrow in surprise when he saw the uninvited guest in the yard. "Oh, isn't this my junior nephew Wei?"
Wei Feng's face darkened. "Who is your junior disciple?"
“Your master is my half-brother, so aren’t you my nephew?” Jiang Xiangyun stretched and sat up with a smile. “What is it?”
Wei Feng succinctly explained his purpose.
This guy's cold face was exactly like Jiang Gu's, making Jiang Xiangyun's teeth ache. He said lazily, "Helping is not a bad thing, but I'm very curious, why don't you go and see for yourself?"
"It's none of your business." Wei Feng flipped his hand, and a small cauldron appeared in his palm. "Lu Liyu hasn't broken his master-servant contract with the Eight Pavilions yet. If you help, I'll help him break it."
Jiang Xiangyun slowly suppressed her smile and sat up straight. "You really can untie it?"
“I know all too well that those traitors can break their bonds by passing the tenth level trial again.” Wei Feng tossed the small cauldron in his hand to him. “Give this to my master.”
Jiang Xiangyun took the small cauldron. "When?"
"Now."
——
The restriction fluctuated, and the runes belonging to the Jiang family were revealed. Jiang Gu, who was in meditation, slowly opened his eyes.
The door opened, revealing Jiang Xiangyun's smiling face. "Seventh Brother, it's been a long time."
Jiang Gu glanced at him. "What's up?"
"I've brought you something." Jiang Xiangyun snapped his fingers casually, and an exquisite little cauldron appeared in front of the two of them.
The cauldron looked small, but it was filled with many things, all of them spiritual medicines and magical artifacts for nourishing the primordial spirit. Jiang Gu scanned it roughly with his divine sense and immediately sensed the aura belonging to Wei Feng.
Jiang Xiangyun delivered the items but didn't leave immediately. He placed a soundproof barrier around the two of them and looked at Jiang Gu with a meaningful gaze, "Your apprentice—"
"Take care, and don't bother seeing me off," Jiang Gu said.
"..." Jiang Xiangyun raised an eyebrow.
Jiang Gu stared at him expressionlessly.
In the end, Jiang Xiangyun gave in, clicked his tongue twice, turned around and left, but before leaving he couldn't help but say, "Seventh brother, don't be angry. Look how scared the child is that he doesn't dare to come near you."
After Jiang Xiangyun left, the courtyard returned to silence.
Jiang Gu glanced at the small cauldron in front of him, and a small, dark primordial spirit emerged from it. Seeing him, the spirit excitedly flapped its wings and rushed towards him with two lines of tears streaming down its face.
It had been trapped in this small cauldron by Wei Feng, never seeing the light of day, feeling incredibly wronged. But it couldn't speak, so it could only gesture angrily at Jiang Gu, and finally rub its face against him while crying.
Jiang Gu caught it, and it sat obediently in Jiang Gu's palm, wearing a bright little dress and shaking its head and flapping its wings at Jiang Gu.
Jiang Gu glanced at the empty courtyard, then led it and the small cauldron through the gate.
A moment later, Wei Feng emerged from the corner, walked dejectedly to the door, raised his hand as if to knock but hesitated in mid-air. Just as he was about to give up, Jiang Gu's voice suddenly came from inside the room: "Come in."
Wei Feng's eyes lit up immediately.
The door opened and closed, and someone cautiously walked in, as if afraid of disturbing something. Jiang Gu looked up at him and asked, "What do you want to do to Lu Liyu?"
Wei Feng was taken aback. "Huh?"
Jiang Gu stared at him coldly, without saying a word.
Seeing that he couldn't fool him, Wei Feng cleared his throat and said, "I didn't mean to do anything. It's just that since you don't plan to touch Lu Liyu right now, I thought I'd go with the flow and do Jiang Xiangyun a favor by helping him dissolve Lu Liyu's Eight Pavilions master-servant contract."
Jiang Gu's eyebrows twitched slightly. "Is that all?"
“Let’s re-establish the contract for him while we’re at it.” A hint of undisguised malice flashed in Wei Feng’s eyes as he said coldly, “If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have had to be separated for so long.”
“If it wasn’t him, it would have been someone else. Yanyu Terrace probably already knows about your identity as the one who stole the jade.” Jiang Gu said, “Don’t touch him yet.”
A hint of resentment flashed in Wei Feng's eyes. His gaze fell on the little primordial spirit playing with a spirit energy ball on the table. He cleared his throat and asked, "Master, what should we do next?"
"Help Xiao Qingyan take the position of Pavilion Master of the Heaven and Earth Pavilion." Jiang Gu looked up at him, "and find your Yuan Dan and heart."
Wei Feng was taken aback for a moment, "Actually, whether it exists or not doesn't affect me much, there's no need to find it."
“The Yuan Dan is the foundation of a cultivator’s practice, and the heart is the master of the body. Without these two things, how can one ascend to immortality?” Jiang Gu frowned.
“But… I am Jieyu.” Wei Feng’s gaze turned somber as he looked at him, his heart filled with complex emotions.
"The Jade of Tribulation and the Jade Steps are merely rules set by the Misty Rain Terrace. If we followed their rules, neither of us would need to live in this world," Jiang Gu said coldly. "Have you turned your brain into water during these years in the Blood Sea?"
Wei Feng was rendered speechless by his words, and he keenly sensed that Jiang Gu's mood seemed to have suddenly turned somewhat bad because he had brought up the matter of stealing the jade.
He licked his dry lips and boldly walked to Jiang Gu's side. "Master, I will only listen to you. I will do whatever you tell me to do."
Jiang Gu glanced at him indifferently upon hearing this, "You are not allowed to appear when I undergo my tribulation."
Wei Feng choked and subconsciously reached out to grab his hand, but it was subtly dodged. Instead, the little primordial spirit brazenly sat on Jiang Gu's shoulder and arrogantly stuck out its tongue at him.
"..." Wei Feng gritted his teeth and forced a smile. "Okay."
