Chapter 335 Extra Chapter 16: IF Path [Cultivation Arc]
With Wei Feng gone, the entire palace instantly became much quieter, as if a group of people were no longer chattering in one's ear, and stepping into the bedchamber felt much more spacious.
When Ling Yin and Yao Shuo arrived, they naturally couldn't find anyone.
"He's a wandering immortal from the upper realm; he'll leave when he's had enough." Jiang Gu's reason was not one to be overly scrutinized, and it even left some room for Wei Feng to return.
“You need not worry about the matter of the Divine Gate.” Ling Yin did not come solely for Wei Feng. “Although Immortal Venerable Hongchen has not yet emerged from seclusion, the chaos within the gate remains stable.”
"What about the anomaly of the Chaos Core?" Jiang Gu frowned. "You are expending a lot of immortal energy every day to suppress the increasingly restless Chaos Core. If this continues, you will eventually perish due to the exhaustion of immortal energy."
Ling Yin said, "We are already thinking of a solution. If we really have to resort to that day and the Divine Gate is unable to seal the Chaos, we will seal the Upper Heaven. Even if it is just to protect the Three Realms, the Nine Provinces, and the myriad small worlds, we will not hesitate."
Jiang Gu disagreed with their approach, saying, "What if there's a better way?"
“We naturally hope to find a better solution, but Yao Yan, things are not that simple. One wrong step could lead to annihilation for this world and even the myriad worlds below,” Ling Yin said. “We cannot gamble with everyone’s lives.”
“If we could, we would also like to go into the Divine Gate and take a gamble, but Hongchen has already gone in. If your mother and I go in too, we might succeed, but if we fail, the entire Upper Realm will fall into chaos…”
Yao Shuo patiently explained the reasons to him, and although Jiang Gu had already guessed them, he still nodded.
"The most urgent task is to ensure that if anything happens to us, someone will step forward to maintain the balance of the Three Realms and Nine Provinces. Yao Yan, you need to be mentally prepared."
Jiang Gu listened, but for the first time ever, he became somewhat distracted.
Wei Feng is burdened with chaos. In those timelines where they all perish together, was he destined to be annihilated from the very beginning? If he were Wei Feng, he would have killed Jiang Gu immediately after leaving the Divine Gate, instead of rushing out to form a symbiotic relationship with him and fight for that tiny bit of hope just because he saw the only glimmer of perfection among so many possibilities.
Foolish and stubborn.
How bad could he be?
After seeing Ling Yin and Yao Shuo off, Jiang Gu still chose to follow his original plan. His father and mother had to consider the well-being of all living beings and the myriad realms, and any adventure would come at a great cost, but not for him. If he failed, he could simply perish together with Wei Feng, but if he succeeded, he could save his own life and Wei Feng's life, and he would not have to go through the process of annihilation in the upper realm.
However, implementing a plan is always much more troublesome, and three months passed in the blink of an eye.
After finishing his affairs in the palace that day, Jiang Gu finally had some free time to go to the Mihua region to see Wei Feng.
The key he gave Wei Feng to open the Mi Hua Realm could only be used for entry, not exit. He didn't know how Wei Feng had arranged things inside.
He had barely stepped into the Mihua Realm when he was engulfed by the menacing ghost patterns. A hand gripped his neck tightly, and Wei Feng's icy voice rang out: "You still dare to show yourself?"
Jiang Gu grabbed his wrist, gathering his immortal energy to forcefully compel him to loosen his grip, before finally managing to catch his breath and say, "Let go."
Wei Feng gritted his teeth and said, "You said you would come to find me, but how much time has passed!"
Jiang Gu frowned: "It's only been three months."
"I've only been aware of myself for a little over ten months since birth!" Wei Feng angrily accused him. "I feel like I've lived most of my life!"
Jiang Gu: "..."
He was over 30,000 years old, and three months was a very short time for him, but he forgot that Wei Feng's concept of time was vague.
"Let go first," Jiang Gu said.
"I won't let go." Wei Feng hugged him tightly. "Jiang Gu, you are shameless! You tricked me into entering the Mi Hua Realm and locking me up. Did you want me to starve to death here? I was even worried that you would be too stingy with your immortal spirits to eat. You liar!"
He bit Jiang Gu's neck.
Jiang Gu slowly clenched his fist.
After an incense stick has burned.
Wei Feng had a bump on his forehead and was gnawing on a large piece of immortal spirit with relish. Jiang Gu sat opposite him, wiping the drool off his neck while using magic to plug the two bloody holes. No one knew where this bastard grew those two tiger teeth from, as they could bite through bone at the drop of a hat.
"What have you been doing in the Mihua Realm for the past three months?" Advisor Jiang asked him.
Wei Feng munched on the fairy spirit, taking a moment to reply, "I missed you."
Jiang Gu paused for a moment: "I'm talking about serious matters."
"Most of the time I'm thinking about you, how to torture you, how to eat you. When I'm really starving, I eat some sand, it tastes like death. Then, as you said, I planted all the ghost patterns in the sand." Wei Feng finished the last bite of the immortal spirit and stared intently at him.
Jiang Gu said, "That's all. If we have any more, we'll be discovered when we get back."
Wei Feng snorted coldly.
"How many did you plant?" Consultant Jiang asked. "Did you plant them all according to the formation I gave you?"
“Of course.” Wei Feng nodded, as if he suddenly remembered something, and put his arm around his waist, carrying him into the sky. “I almost forgot, I have something good to show you.”
"I can do it myself." Jiang Gu frowned and tried to remove the hand that was on his waist.
"Don't move around, you can't use your immortal power here." Wei Feng tightened his grip. "Look down."
Jiang Gu followed his gaze and saw that in the vast sandy land of Mihua Realm, many pitch-black ghost patterns had been planted. These patterns, some long and some short, were like ink lines connecting on the brown earth, actually outlining a portrait. As Wei Feng led him further away from the ground, the figure became clearer and clearer.
That was none other than Jiang Gu himself.
Jiang Gu asked, "How bored are you?"
Wei Fengdao sniffed his neck with relish, his voice a little aggrieved: "I thought I would be locked up here forever. I tried many ways to get out but couldn't. So I simply used ghost patterns to draw you so that I wouldn't forget what you look like after a long time."
Jiang Gu felt a mix of emotions: "When did I say I was going to lock you up here forever?"
“You always lie to me.” Wei Feng sighed. “But I’ll still listen to you, after all, I think you like me a little too.”
Jiang Gu replied expressionlessly, "No."
Wei Feng leaned in and kissed the corner of his mouth, smiling, "I'm so happy you could come, and you even brought me a fairy spirit. Jiang Gu, I like you very much."
Jiang Gu frowned: "Insolence."
Wei Feng landed him on the ground and pinched his ear: "It's red."
Jiang Gu coldly slapped his hand away and said, "Now that the formation is complete, let's move on to the next step."
Wei Feng asked, "What?"
“A celestial body will be annihilated upon entering the Divine Gate. I don’t have a celestial body as powerful as my master’s, so I have to find another way. Since you came from within the Divine Gate and have chaos within you, I will take your heart and use it,” Jiang Gu said. “Give it to me.”
Wei Feng suddenly realized: "So if you want to deceive me both physically and emotionally, I'll say you're a heartless man."
"Don't read storybooks if you don't understand them." Jiang Gu was too lazy to correct him. "But you can't live without a heart either, so let's switch."
Wei Feng was stunned for a moment: "Heart exchange?"
Jiang Gu lifted his eyelids to look at him: "You don't want to?"
He has plenty of ways to get him to agree.
“I’m willing.” Wei Feng reached out and pulled his heart out of his chest cavity as if he were taking out something insignificant. “But your heart must taste really good, and I’m afraid I won’t be able to resist.”
"If you can't stand it, then die." Jiang Gu set up a small magic circle and stuffed his heart into Wei Feng's chest cavity. Wei Feng's expression froze for a moment.
"What's wrong?" Jiang Gu used his immortal spirit to help heal his wounds.
Wei Feng opened his mouth: "I don't know. I suddenly feel like something is missing. I'm unhappy, and I don't really want to eat the immortal spirit anymore. What should I do?"
Jiang Gu, feeling the overwhelming surge of emotions, said calmly, "It's the effect of my heart on you."
Wei Feng lowered his head and clutched his chest, saying, "There's only a little left, and it'll all be gone in an instant. Jiang Gu, aren't you happy most of the time?"
"It's just a difference in mood, no need to take it to heart." Jiang Gu didn't care about these details. Even though Wei Feng's strong emotions made him a little uncomfortable, it was nothing to him.
Wei Feng sighed and reached out to pull him into his arms: "Fine, I originally wanted to teach you a lesson, but I'll let you off the hook since you're so pitiful."
Jiang Gu's lips twitched slightly: "Let go."
“You clearly like it a lot.” Wei Feng patted him on the back. “I could feel it.”
Jiang Gu stopped arguing with him about such pointless questions and said, "Even though we've exchanged hearts, what happens inside the Divine Gate is still unpredictable. I can't guarantee that we'll both survive, do you understand?"
Wei Feng nodded and smiled, "If we succeed, could you take me to see those flowering trees at the end of the River of Forgetfulness?"
Jiang Gu stared at him for a long time before nodding: "Okay."
Jiang Gu never agrees to do things he's not confident he can do, but this is the first time he's ever done it.
He couldn't be sure if they would survive, nor was he certain they would succeed. He could only give it his all, but he gave Wei Feng a promise he didn't know if he could keep.
The vast Mihua Realm began to slowly revive as the ghost patterns writhed, the divine gate in the endless sky began to stir restlessly, the chaotic energy gradually spread, and the mist filled the sky.
Before leaping into the divine gate, Wei Feng suddenly grabbed his hand and said, "Jiang Gu, actually I don't particularly want to see flowers. Seeing mountains and rivers is fine too, or even just watching you handle official business in the bedchamber is fine, do you understand?"
Jiang Gu turned his head to look at him, his heart pounding in his chest as if right next to his ear, each beat clear and firm. He looked up at the endless abyss ahead and said calmly, "Understood."
The chaos in the void completely obliterated the two figures.
As the primordial chaos first appeared, the magnificent divine gate slowly closed, and the Mi Hua Realm was situated in the endless heavens. Within the gate lay a thousand worlds and ten thousand years of void. The unpredictable and turbulent divine realm slowly revealed only the tip of the iceberg, and their tribulations and trials had only just begun.
Perhaps they will meet the person they are destined to meet, see the vast world, experience life and death, and only then can they cultivate their own path, find their own hearts, and fight against fate for the only glimmer of hope among countless dead ends.
But who could possibly know?
The Boundless Heaven's Mihua Realm gradually regained its vitality. The portrait of the Ninth Heaven's Little Immortal Lord, imprinted with dark ghost patterns, was lost among the flowers. The sleeping quarters of Yaoyan Immortal Palace were not yet completed, and the Seven Killings Flower Tree at the end of the River of Forgetfulness was lush and verdant.
We await the return of the immortal.

A note from the author:
That concludes all the bonus content. Thank you all for your support along the way!
The modern-day alternate story will be a short, separate piece, with an uncertain release date, probably only ten to twenty thousand words long. You can consider it a little bonus.
My next novel should be "I Really Can't Pilot a Mecha," so interested readers can check out the synopsis in my author page.
Thank you with a deep bow! Hope we meet again someday!
