Chapter 34 Yanghua Cloud Sea (Twenty-One)
Jiang Gu neither said it was good nor bad.
He had no intention of taking on disciples, after all, he had never heard of someone being able to overcome two love tribulations in one go, but he didn't mind using some methods to make Wei Feng feel a sense of crisis.
Wei Feng followed behind him dejectedly. Whenever he turned around, the other man would look at him pitifully, with tears welling up in his eyes, as if he was about to burst into tears.
Jiang Gu stopped and looked at him expressionlessly.
Wei Feng met his gaze with a wronged expression, but his face was actually full of stubbornness. "Master, are you not letting me into your cave because you want to take Mo Daojin as your disciple? Does that mean you're going to give him the little cave you dug for me too?"
"Go back to class," Jiang Gu said coldly.
Wei Feng sniffed, clutching his sleeve tightly, and said in a muffled voice, "Master, I promise I will be obedient from now on. I will never fall asleep in class again. I will really surpass Mo Daojin soon. Please don't take him as your disciple."
"Mo Daojin is at the early stage of the Golden Core realm, while you are only at the fifth level of Qi Refining." Jiang Gu mercilessly refuted him. "How can you surpass him?"
“I…” Wei Feng was stumped by his question and stood there at a loss.
Jiang Gu said, "Establish your foundation within two months, or everything else is off the table."
Wei Feng's expression gradually changed from bewilderment to surprise. "Master, do you mean that as long as I reach Foundation Establishment within two months, you won't accept Mo Daojin as your disciple?"
Jiang Gu pulled out his sleeve and turned to leave without looking back.
"Master! I will definitely not let you down!" Wei Feng shouted loudly behind him.
——
"I'll definitely disappoint Master—ahhhhh why did I agree! This is impossible!" Wei Feng clutched his head in anguish, kneeling by the bed and banging his head against the blankets frantically.
Xuan Zhiyan lay on the rocking chair, teasing Wei Feng's newly acquired spirit pet. The palm-sized little red cat obediently lay on his stomach, licking its paws. He gloated, "That's right, you haven't been able to establish your foundation in sixteen years. Even if you took drugs until you died, you still couldn't establish your foundation in two months."
"Aaaaaaah!" Wei Feng cried out in despair, grabbing his hair and leaping off the bed with a thud. He roared furiously, "You didn't see how arrogant Mo Daojin was! He practically wanted to stick his whole body to my master! Why?! Jiang Gu is my master! Mine!"
"Master belongs to everyone, don't be silly. Your master will definitely take on other disciples in the future." Xuan Zhiyan pinched Wu Tuo's snow-white little hand and waved to Wei Feng with a smile. "According to your logic, if my master has so many disciples, wouldn't I be crying my eyes out?"
“This…is different.” Wei Feng immediately slumped down, then gritted his teeth in resentment. “Anyway, I will never let my master take on any more disciples.”
"Hiss, your master is so scary." Xuan Zhiyan picked up Wu Tuo and let it perch on his shoulder. The little red cat had a jade collar around its neck with a small golden bell hanging from it. He squinted at it for a while and said, "Wei Feng, why does this thing you put on it look so much like that treasure of the Treasure Pavilion?"
“It’s not just similar, it is.” Wei Feng rested his head on his arm and looked up at the golden ribbon on the bed curtains. “I’ve made up my mind. Two months it is. I’m determined to reach the Foundation Establishment stage.”
"You put a Heaven-Rank magic weapon on a cat?!" Xuan Zhiyan jumped up from the recliner in shock.
Wei Feng sighed heavily, "But how exactly can I quickly improve my cultivation level?"
"Aren't you afraid someone will steal the cat and the baby together?" Xuan Zhiyan said with exasperation, "You spendthrift!"
"Forget it, I don't want to think about it anymore, my head hurts." Wei Feng squinted his eyes. "Master will definitely have a way."
“My Wuwu, come here, let godfather give you a kiss.” Xuan Zhiyan leaned in to kiss Wutuo, but it blocked his mouth with a paw.
"I absolutely cannot let anyone else have my little cave! I'm going to stay there tonight!" Wei Feng angrily pounded the bedpost.
"Go ahead, go ahead. I'm taking Wutuo away for a few days. I'll leave the magic weapon here for you. Remember to keep it safe." Xuan Zhiyan helped Wutuo take the magic weapon down.
The two talked at cross purposes for a long time, but then their conversation strangely overlapped. Xuan Zhiyan happily picked up the cat, put it in his arms, and walked back, while Wei Feng picked up his bundle again and headed straight for Qingping Peak.
Qingping Peak.
Jiang Gu looked at the Fire-Separating Pill in front of him, which he could not refine for a long time, with a solemn expression.
The Divine Kite Shark's Fire-Separating Pill can be used to refine natal magic weapons or to expand spiritual roots and meridians. For Jiang Gu, natal magic weapons are far less important than his own spiritual roots and meridians. After all, although natal magic weapons are connected to the primordial spirit, they can be sacrificed to save the king at crucial moments.
Using it on inanimate objects is far less effective than using it on oneself.
However, things went wrong at the very first step.
The problem lies with Wei Feng.
Thinking of this, he no longer hesitated and directly fastened the magical artifact that changed his form. There were some things that were inconvenient to do under the identity of "Jiang Gu", but were just right to do under this identity.
He intercepted Wei Feng on the way.
Wei Feng slowly took half a step back from his sword, his expression turning grim. "It's you again! You're still alive!"
"Your master is seriously injured, how could he kill me?" Jiang Gu found a good reason for himself.
Wei Feng clearly believed him, but to Jiang Gu's surprise, he didn't run towards Qingping Peak. After all, Jiang Gu had already arranged for the two identities to fight a battle—he didn't mind making "Jiang Gu" more seriously injured, since being together through life and death was a good opportunity to cultivate feelings.
However, Wei Feng ran away in the opposite direction.
No matter how fast Wei Feng was, he couldn't match him. He was quickly subdued by Jiang Gu in one move and thrown into the back mountain.
"The Fire-Separating Pill inside me has been taken by a man from the Jiang family named Jiang Lin!" Wei Feng struggled desperately under his grasp. "If you want the Fire-Separating Pill, you can go and snatch it back from him!"
"Heh." Jiang Gu sneered, grabbing his chin and forcing him to tilt his head back. "I said I would save your life if you gave me the Fire-Separating Pill, but you broke your promise. How are you going to make it up to me?"
Wei Feng looked frightened, but his mind was working quickly. "There are good things hidden in the Yanghua Sect's sea of clouds. I can take you to find them!"
Jiang Gu was taken aback. "Good stuff?"
“It might be more useful to you than the Fire-Separating Pill.” Wei Feng’s heart pounded. He guessed that the other party was asking for the Fire-Separating Pill and the scales because he wanted to cultivate. He said in a dry voice, “No one knows about this except my father. Before he died, he left me with the blood pact to open the Cloud Sea. You can take me in.”
Jiang Gu narrowed his eyes. "Then why did you tell me?"
“Because… I also need that thing to improve my cultivation, but I can’t get in by myself.” Wei Feng said nervously, “I can be the key, and we can go in together. You just need to give me a little bit.”
Jiang Gu hadn't expected this unexpected gain. He loosened his grip and asked, "Then why didn't you tell Jiang Gu about this?"
"I didn't originally intend to tell anyone," Wei Feng said awkwardly. "It's all to save my life."
He really didn't intend to tell Jiang Gu, nor did he intend to tell anyone, but this old pervert was extremely difficult to deal with, and his master was now seriously injured, so he had no choice but to find a way on his own.
Just as Wei Feng was about to breathe a sigh of relief, the old pervert suddenly reached out and ripped open his collar.
Wei Feng froze instantly, gripping his wrists tightly with both hands. "What are you doing?!"
"Let me see the wings grow out." Jiang Gu touched the fine down on his shoulder blade, pondering the connection between the Fire-Separating Pill and the Divine Kite's wings.
Wei Feng stared at him in astonishment, his face flushed and paled. "No."
"Then I'll remove it for you." Jiang Gu's fingertips instantly gathered sharp spiritual energy.
Wei Feng was startled. A pair of silver-blue wings suddenly unfurled from his back, and his cheeks and neck were covered with a layer of soft feathers. His eyes also turned into vertical pupils like those of a bird, staring warily at the person in front of him.
Jiang Gu traced his wing root upwards, and Wei Feng gritted his teeth, trying to stop his trembling. Soon, Jiang Gu found an exceptionally hard feather at the joint of the wing.
"What is this?" Consultant Jiang asked.
Wei Feng awkwardly tucked his wings in. "I don't know."
"Does the Divine Kite Shark not have any inherited memories?" Advisor Jiang asked him.
Wei Feng shook his head and gritted his teeth, saying, "Take it if you want."
Jiang Gu looked at him and chuckled softly: "You're quite willing to do that."
"As long as you spare my life," Wei Feng stared intently at him, "I can guarantee you that the things in the Yanghua Sect's Cloud Sea will be far more useful to you than the Divine Kite Shark Scales."
Jiang Gu's curiosity was piqued. "Then I'll wait and see."
The expected pain did not come, and Wei Feng cautiously retracted his wing. "You don't want this feather anymore?"
"Keep it for yourself to build your nest, you little beast."
Since the feather had nothing to do with the Fire-Separating Pill, Jiang Gu decisively gave up and entered the concealment barrier.
The old pervert vanished on the spot. Wei Feng waited warily for a long time, and only after confirming that the person had left did he breathe a long sigh of relief and awkwardly move his wings, which had been touched all over.
He didn't know if this decision was right or wrong. If he could really use the old pervert to get the things in the sea of clouds... he wouldn't have to be controlled by anyone anymore.
But that's on the condition that he survives.
Jiang Gu watched him walk solemnly from the back mountain to Qingping Peak, but did not call out to anyone.
Wei Feng took out bundles of various sizes from his storage bag and piled them up not far from the cave entrance, then huddled inside.
The feathers on his cheeks slowly faded away. He reached out and scratched himself, then turned and stared blankly at the cave. He lowered his head, yawned listlessly, and curled up into a ball to sleep.
Jiang Gu was baffled by this series of actions, and unusually, he couldn't figure out what Wei Feng was trying to do.
So he removed the magical artifact that allowed him to change his form and the barrier that concealed his presence. Standing before the nest as Jiang Gu, he asked his question, "Wei Feng, what are you doing?"
Wei Feng was woken up just as he fell asleep. He sat cross-legged among the pile of bundles and gave Jiang Gu a bright smile. "Master, may I go into the cave to cultivate tonight?"
"Come in." Jiang Gu turned and walked into the cave.
Wei Feng was overjoyed and quickly packed his bags to follow behind him.
Jiang Gu paused slightly. "Has that mysterious person been looking for you again lately?"
"I don't have a master." Wei Feng smiled innocently and sat obediently on the futon he had brought. "Master, your cultivation is so high, you must have scared him away."
Jiang Gu glanced at him indifferently, "That's fine then."
