Chapter 37 Yanghua Cloud Sea (Twenty-Four)
Longyun City remained as bustling as ever.
A group of teenagers who were not quite grown up always had countless fresh ideas. Wei Feng spent half a day with them, then dragged Xuan Zhiyan away from the group under some pretext.
"Wei Feng, where are you going?" Du Qing caught up, his grayish-white eyes staring intently at Wei Feng. Liu Xian also caught up from behind, laughing, "Yeah, why did you two sneak off?"
"It's a private matter, a private matter," Xuan Zhiyan said with a smile, trying to smooth things over for Wei Feng. "It's inconvenient to have too many people."
"We'll be back soon, you guys go have fun." Wei Feng said with a smile, and soon he and Xuan Zhiyan left the others behind.
After confirming that Du Qing and Liu Xian hadn't caught up, Xuan Zhiyan breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Wei Feng helplessly, "I thought you really enjoyed playing with them."
"I do enjoy lively atmospheres," Wei Feng stretched, "but sometimes I also prefer a quieter time."
“This isn’t like you,” Xuan Zhiyan said.
Wei Feng, carrying his sword, said nonchalantly, "They're all just superficial friends. If they weren't my master, who would bother with me?"
"So you knew?" Xuan Zhiyan was slightly shocked.
Wei Feng said with a blank face, "I'm not stupid. It's enough to just use the flying boat to make some noise. Do you think I'm a sucker if I actually spend money on them?"
Xuan Zhiyan patted his shoulder with satisfaction, "Why didn't you say so earlier? You brought that bag of spirit stones, and I was worried all the way here."
“That’s meant to be a tribute to my master,” Wei Feng said. “Let’s go, let’s go.”
By the time the two returned to the inn, it was already dark.
Wei Feng had booked the largest inn in Longyun City. He was a top-tier VIP there and had his own private room. Xuan Zhiyan was staying next door to him and even helped him carry his several boxes of belongings into his room when they parted.
"Why didn't you take a few more storage bags with all this stuff you bought?" Xuan Zhiyan was exhausted.
Wei Feng slammed the box he was carrying onto the ground, put his hands on his hips and panted, "I brought it, it's all big items. I have to pick the best for my master, right?"
Xuan Zhiyan stared at him speechlessly, "Let's see how you manage to get it back."
"At worst, we can just buy a few storage bags tomorrow," Wei Feng said, urging him to go back and rest.
Xuan Zhiyan wiped his sweat. "I must have owed you something in my past life."
Wei Feng slammed the door shut without hesitation.
Xuan Zhiyan glared angrily at the door for a long time before finally leaving. Wei Feng had just lain down on the bed when there was another knock on the door. He got up wearily to open it. "Xuan Zhiyan, it's you again—Du Qing?"
The black-haired boy at the door stared intently at him. "Wei Feng, may I come in and sit for a while?"
"...Ah, please come in." Although Wei Feng was puzzled, he still stepped aside, closed the door, and turned around, saying, "What do you have—you!"
Before he could even shout, a wet, sticky hand covered his mouth. "Young Master, it's me."
Wei Feng stared in shock at Du Qing, whose body had more than doubled in size. Du Qing's deep features and curly black hair left a deep impression on him. He quickly nodded to indicate that he would not make a sound.
Qingdu then released him and excitedly hugged his shoulders, saying, "Young Master, I've finally found a chance to talk to you."
Wei Feng still remembered that day when he fought desperately against that old pervert to save him, and that the other man had a familiar merman aura about him. "You are..."
“My name is Qingdu, and I am the protector of your father, Qing Changxi.” Qingdu spoke much more fluently. “Young Master, you have suffered.”
“My father’s name is Wei Mingzhou, and he was the former sect leader of Yanghua Sect.” Wei Feng was still not used to him calling him “Young Master”. “Besides, the Divine Kite Shark was only born a year ago, so it couldn’t be me, right? I’m only two months away from being seventeen.”
“The divine kite-mermaid bloodline within you only awakened a year ago, making you only one year old. You’re a little mermaid, a little kite bird.” Qing Du’s words became somewhat incoherent again as he became anxious. “A mermaid cub, just hatched, needs protection.”
Wei Feng smiled awkwardly, "I'm fine now, I don't need you to protect me."
Qingdu looked at him with a hint of sadness. Wei Feng touched his nose and said, "Since you say my father is Qing Changxi, then my mother must be the divine kite that took human form."
“Exactly.” Qingdu nodded.
"Then why haven't they come to see me all these years? Are they really all dead? And what about Wei Mingzhou?" Wei Feng asked. "Why does Qi Fengyuan want to kill me again?"
Qingdu looked at him blankly, then slowly shook her head. "I don't know."
Wei Feng slumped his shoulders in disappointment, his eyes darting around. "How do you plan to protect me?"
"I'll take you away," Qingdu said. "Let's go back to the water."
Wei Feng hissed, feeling a slight toothache, "I think I'm doing pretty well at Yanghua Sect, except for that old pervert who's always harassing me..."
Qingdu grabbed his arm and said, "Kill him, then you come with me."
Wei Feng raised an eyebrow. "That's possible, we'll see when the time comes."
Merfolk are not very intelligent and cannot understand the hidden meaning in Wei Feng's words. They simply take Wei Feng's agreement as fact, nod solemnly, and place a protective scale in Wei Feng's hand.
Wei Feng stared at the heart-protecting scale for a moment, then asked, "Why are you giving it to me?"
“The young master’s protective scale is gone,” Qingdu said.
Wei Feng smiled and returned the Heart-Protecting Scale to him, "I don't need it, this thing is useless to me."
“The mating season is difficult for kites,” Qingdu said. “The mating season is even more difficult for mermaids.”
Wei Feng's expression shifted rapidly. "Mermaids too?"
Qingdu nodded. "If you want to find a female merman to mate with and lay eggs, you can give your heart-protecting scale to your female."
"You just said I'm only one year old!" Wei Feng exclaimed in shock.
“The merfolk are one and a half years old, mature.” Qingdu glanced at him. “The divine merfolk are even earlier.”
Wei Feng's face turned green. The mating season of the kite bird had already tormented him enough. If he hadn't dug out the Fire-Separating Pill, he didn't know how long it would have taken. If the merman came again, he would be doomed.
Moreover, this Heart-Protecting Scale didn't sound like a good thing, so he slapped it back into Qingdu's hand. "Then I definitely can't take it. You keep it for yourself, and we'll keep in touch."
Before Qingdu could say anything more, he was pushed out of the room.
Wei Feng wiped his face in frustration. So far, the identity of the Divine Kite Shark had only brought him countless troubles. He had finally become a disciple and was starting to recover, so there was absolutely no way he would leave with Qing Du.
He must never let anyone else know his identity as the Divine Kite Shark.
He only wanted to live a peaceful life with his master and Xuan Zhiyan in Yanghua Sect.
He stared warily into the room and said in a deep voice, "I know you're here. Come out."
The surroundings were so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Wei Feng clenched his fists. Suddenly, a cold aura appeared behind him, and a hoarse voice seemed to whisper in his ear, "Not too stupid."
“I saw you in the sea of clouds.” Wei Feng turned around, only to find that the other person was far away from him, standing at the door like a dark shadow. “You deliberately let me see you.”
"When will we enter Yunhai?" Advisor Jiang asked.
Wei Feng said, "I have a five-day holiday, but my master gave me three days off."
Jiang Gu scoffed: "If you're so obedient, why did you keep it from him?"
"Mind your own business." Wei Feng glared at him fiercely, but subconsciously took a step back as the other man walked towards him.
Jiang Gu cut to the chase: "Grow wings and a shark tail."
Perhaps because Qingdu had just mentioned the mating season, Wei Feng's thoughts had wandered off, and his face flushed bright red. "What are you doing?"
What kind of fetish does this old pervert have?!
Jiang Gu wasn't particularly interested in Wei Feng's wings, but since he hadn't found a way to refine the Fire-Separating Pill in his hand, he naturally wanted to make the most of Wei Feng's abilities.
"Just taking a look," Jiang Gu said without changing his expression.
These words suddenly became even more ambiguous. Wei Feng glared at him with a face full of humiliation, "No, there's no water here, so my shark tail can't transform."
With a wave of his long sleeves, Jiang Gu filled the empty bathtub with water.
Wei Feng opened his mouth, wanting to make another excuse, but Jiang Gu picked him up and threw him into the bucket. The moment Wei Feng touched the water, the huge mermaid tail burst the bucket.
Wei Feng collapsed onto the floor, soaking wet. The scales on his mermaid tail gleamed with a ghostly blue light. A pair of enormous wings were folded behind his back against the wall. His eyes had turned into grayish-white vertical pupils. The fangs and fine bird teeth of the mermaid gleamed coldly in his mouth. The protruding fangs pierced his lips. Small scales and soft feathers mingled on his cheekbones and the sides of his neck. His fingers were webbed together, and his fingernails dug deeply into the wooden barrel in fear, drawing blood.
As expected, it was a hybrid of a lowly bird and a shark, much uglier than Jiang Gu had imagined.
He gave Wei Feng a disdainful look.
Wei Feng's handsome face was extremely pale, and his chest and lower abdomen were covered in wounds. Perhaps due to fear, the wounds had reopened. Even though he wasn't small after his transformation, he pitifully curled up in a corner, as if Jiang Gu would skin him alive and study him thoroughly.
Jiang Gu did indeed intend to do so, but considering the effort he had put into regulating Jiang Gu's meridians and dantian, he could only suppress this simplest method.
He walked up to Wei Feng, knelt down, grabbed his neck, and asked while examining the inhuman features on his body, "Are you afraid I'll kill Qing Du, so you're in a hurry to get rid of him?"
Wei Feng felt the hand being stroked from the bottom up along the shark's tail. The hand was warm and strong, pressing heavily on his shark scales, causing him to tremble uncontrollably, his scales opening up involuntarily. He said angrily, "You... don't touch me like that!"
"Why are your scales so hard?" Jiang Gu touched a very hard shark scale, and its color was darker than the others. He pinched it and tried to pull it off. "Is it the same as the feather on your wing?"
Wei Feng gripped his wrists tightly with both hands, his face flushed and pale as he glared at him fiercely, gritting his teeth as he said, "This is mine..."
His next words were vague, and Jiang Gu frowned. "What?"
"This is what I use to breed small fish!" Wei Feng roared in shame and indignation, "You're disgusting!"
Jiang Gu paused for a moment in an eerie silence, then said calmly, "You're still a little shark, it won't hurt to pluck it."
"You're fine!" Wei Feng bared his teeth fiercely at him, and his huge wings suddenly lunged at him. Jiang Gu reacted quickly, grabbing the base of his wing and plucking the lightest feather.
Wei Feng cried out in pain, and Jiang Gu impatiently used his spiritual power to apply it to his wound. "Give me one of your scales."
Wei Feng's face turned deathly pale with pain. "Didn't you... remove the Heart-Protecting Scale?"
“The Heart-Protecting Scale is used up.” Jiang Gu’s gaze swept over the dark scale from before. “Or I can pluck it out.”
“I can do it myself!” Wei Feng’s pale fingers lingered on his body for a long time before finding a small scale that was about to fall off from his tail. He plucked it off and handed it to Jiang Gu.
"..." Jiang Gu's gaze fell on the dark scale.
"Don't even think about it!" Wei Feng clutched the scales on his private parts, cursing, "You pervert!"
Jiang Gu expressionlessly plucked a beautiful, round scale from Wei Feng's waist. Wei Feng cried out in pain, but Jiang Gu covered his mouth with his hand.
He was furious and opened his mouth to bite Jiang Gu's hand hard, as if he wanted to devour him alive.
Jiang Gu didn't even frown. Staring at his fine bird teeth and merman fangs, he grabbed his jaw and put his thumb and forefinger into his mouth.
Wei Feng grabbed his wrist and struggled, whimpering.
Jiang Gu ignored the fact that his fingertip was pierced by the sharp teeth. Wei Feng had two rows of teeth, with fine, serrated bird teeth on the inside and sharp, pointed mermaid teeth on the outside. He broke off two teeth and took them out. Wei Feng choked on the blood and tears welled up in his eyes. He glared at him fiercely.
Jiang Gu didn't care and had no intention of explaining to him. Just as he was about to reach out to take Wei Feng's heart's blood, the originally weak and quiet Shen Yuan Jiao suddenly pounced and knocked him down onto the floor full of wood chips and water stains.
A hint of surprise flashed in Jiang Gu's eyes.
Logically speaking, he shouldn't have been able to be ambushed by Wei Feng. Even though he was still seriously injured, Wei Feng's speed was incredibly fast, and he was unable to dodge it.
"Get off." Jiang Gu pressed his palm against his chest, as if he could crush his heart at any moment.
Wei Feng's grayish-white vertical pupils gleamed with an eerie red, tinged with intense desire. He stared intently at the person he had pinned beneath him. Although he couldn't see the other's face clearly, he could smell the sweet and alluring scent emanating from him. He leaned in and inhaled Jiang Gu's cheek with a dazed look. The mermaid tail beneath him tightly wrapped around Jiang Gu's legs. He said in a daze, "I won't leave. If you have the guts, kill me... If you kill me, you won't get anything."
Jiang Gu sneered, his spiritual power piercing through the flesh of his chest without mercy. Unexpectedly, Wei Feng recklessly bent down and bit down on his shoulder.
His speed was ridiculously fast. Jiang Gu suddenly withdrew his spiritual power at the last moment. Immediately afterwards, a sharp pain came from his shoulder. He frowned and shook Wei Feng away, but Wei Feng seemed oblivious to the pain and pounced on him recklessly. His wings spread wide and enveloped him. Jiang Gu reduced his strength and hesitated for only a moment when he saw the dark scales suddenly open. Wei Feng's claws tore through his clothes.
boom!
Wei Feng was kicked against the wall.
Jiang Gu stared at him with a gloomy expression. "You little bastard, what's gotten into you all of a sudden?"
The pain brought Wei Feng back to his senses. He stared blankly at the old pervert's mangled, skeletal chest, then said in a hoarse voice, "You touched my scales and my wings! I'm not a Buddhist cultivator! I—"
He couldn't even articulate what he was thinking; he was simply driven mad by Jiang Gu's aura, his blood seemingly boiling. He swallowed hard, his expression greedy as he took two steps toward Jiang Gu, "I won't do anything... just let me smell you."
"I think you're tired of living." Jiang Gu's expression turned cold, and he was just about to teach him a lesson when a strange spiritual force suddenly surged towards him.
Wei Feng keenly seized his weakness and pounced on him, but Jiang Gu grabbed his wings, lifted him up, smashed open the window, and flew out on his sword.
Qingdu, who had barged in, frowned at the mess on the ground and said to the person behind him, "Young Master, he's in heat during his mating season."
"That's the perfect opportunity to strip away the kite's bloodline, let's go!" The people behind didn't hesitate.
Jiang Gu carried the person straight to Yanghua Sect. Sensing two unfamiliar divine senses behind him, he slightly curled the corners of his mouth, but the smile quickly froze on his face.
The divine kite in his hand had somehow gotten its entire tail pressed against his leg, its open scales against his groin, its wings tightly wrapped around his waist, and its pale, webbed fingers hooked around his skeletal left ribs, while its cheek intimately pressed against his neck.
Before Jiang Gu could react and knock it unconscious, the thing stuck out its long, thin, forked, bright red tongue and gently licked his chin.
The veins on Jiang Gu's forehead bulged instantly.
