Chapter 93 Songsui Illusion (Part 1)
Just as Jiang Gu withdrew his divine sense, Wei Feng jumped off the flying sword.
The boy wore his familiar smile. "Master, I'm back!"
Jiang Gu glanced at him. "Let's go."
This flying boat was many times more luxurious than Lin Feibai's previous flying boat, not to mention the small flying boats that Jiang Gu was used to using. However, Wei Feng had no time to appreciate it and followed Jiang Gu into the room.
Jiang Gu turned to look at the tail clinging to his back and said coldly, "Go back to your own room."
Wei Feng shook his head, silently walked to the window, and curled up on the small couch in the corner.
Jiang Gu noticed that he was in a low mood, but he didn't care. Ever since he killed Qi Fengyuan, Xuan Zhiyan had been a potential threat to Wei Feng. He couldn't understand why the two of them were so indecisive, and he was also a little disappointed that they hadn't turned against each other even at this point.
Only the threat of death brings the most peace of mind.
However, he did not intend to interfere in Wei Feng's private affairs, and sat on the bed with his eyes closed to regulate his breathing.
He didn't know how much time had passed when a warm aura appeared beside him, and a dark ghostly pattern quietly wrapped around his sleeve, but made no further move.
So Jiang Gu ignored him and waited until his spiritual energy had circulated through one cycle before opening his eyes. He then saw Wei Feng curled up in a ball, fast asleep.
His handsome, fair face was streaked with tears, his brows were furrowed tightly, and ghostly markings writhed and moved along his neck, giving him an air of malevolence. A single jade earring pressed against his cheek, the phonograph inside already turned to ashes.
Jiang Gu brushed the jade pendant aside and glimpsed another jade pendant lying in his palm, clearly a pair with the one he was wearing.
He lowered his eyes and stared at it for a moment. With a slight movement of his spiritual power, the pair of jade pendants silently dissipated into specks of light, leaving only a small ear hole on Wei Feng's rounded earlobes.
Sensing the fluctuations in spiritual energy, Wei Feng's eyelashes trembled slightly, and he opened his eyes.
He subconsciously reached for his earring, but found nothing. A sudden emptiness filled his heart. He looked at Jiang Gu, his grievance mixed with anger.
Jiang Gu looked at the red rope tightly around his neck and felt a little better. He met Wei Feng's questioning gaze with an arrogant expression, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
Wei Feng's eyes gradually reddened. After looking at him for a long time, he turned around and buried his head in the quilt, leaving him with only a stubborn back view.
"..." Jiang Gu raised an eyebrow in surprise.
This little bastard can actually sulk.
Wei Feng slept on and off, not knowing how much time had passed, when he was awakened by the vibration of the flying boat landing. Then he saw Jiang Gu's back as he left the house, and he jumped out of bed to chase after him.
His face still bore the red marks left by the brocade quilt, and his vision was blurry. He raised his hand and rubbed it hard, and then his eyes were dazzled by the magnificent palace in front of him.
Two very handsome young boys stood in front of the door. They looked no more than five or six years old, with a cinnabar mole between their eyebrows and their hair tied in two buns. When they saw Jiang Gu, their eyes lit up, and their clear, childlike voices rang out, "Master is back!"
However, they just stood there shouting, without moving.
Jiang Gu's face was expressionless. He simply tossed a round stone to one of the children as he passed by. The two children happily caught it and hugged it to their arms. Wei Feng followed behind Jiang Gu and looked at them suspiciously. He then realized that these were the little spirits that had been transformed from the two stone lions guarding the gate. No wonder they were so happy to receive two small stone balls.
Curious, he reached out and poked the little stone lion's tail, which was curled up in a ball. It was soft. The little boy, holding the ball, turned around and gave him a sweet smile.
Wei Feng's eyes lit up immediately, and his heart melted with joy. He rummaged through his storage bag and pulled out the largest luminous pearl, handing it to him.
The little boy took it and rubbed his head against Wei Feng's fingers. The little lion on the other side was so anxious that it ran around in circles, calling out to Wei Feng in a childish voice, "I want one too! I want one too!"
Wei Feng turned around and gave her another luminous pearl.
The heavy door slowly opened, and Wei Feng touched the little girl's hair before running after her.
The courtyard was simple and rustic, quite different from the outside. Dark green camphor trees and pines were planted on both sides, giving it a desolate and ancient feel. The bluestone path was covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves, as if no one had swept it for years. Wei Feng followed Jiang Gu and walked through the winding corridor to the backyard.
Although it's called a backyard, it actually covers a vast area, almost encompassing half of the mountain. With exotic flowers, rare herbs, flowing waterfalls, and ancient trees, it feels like you've stumbled into a paradise.
A small leopard with dark fur raised its head and looked at Jiang Gu doubtfully, swung its tail, and said in an arrogant voice, "Who are you?"
Bang!
A thick, black tail slammed into its head, and then a huge black panther leaped down from the tree. "Master is back!"
As soon as he finished speaking, countless furry spirit beasts surged out from all directions, both open and hidden, rushing towards Jiang Gu in a hurry, but then consciously stopping three zhang away from him, looking at him excitedly and thrilledly, calling out "Master!" one after another.
Wei Feng looked at these spirit beasts, some with smooth fur and shiny coats, some tall and mighty, and some with graceful shapes. Any one of them could be a rare and precious spirit pet, and they were all incredibly beautiful.
He swallowed hard and turned to look at Jiang Gu.
Jiang Gu's expression remained indifferent. He took two spirit pet pouches from his waist, untied them, and two cat-shaped spirit pets with flowing white fur jumped out, warily looking at the unfamiliar surroundings.
Wei Feng stared in shock at the two spirit pets, completely unaware that Jiang Gu had acquired two new spirit pets!
One of them raised its head and sniffed the air, then turned to look at Jiang Gu with longing, "Master, is this your garden?"
"Hmm." Jiang Gu replied indifferently, "You will live here from now on."
“I like it here.” The other wagged its fluffy tail and went over to greet the other spirit pets in the garden.
Perhaps because they share the same master, these spirit beasts, some ferocious and some docile, get along relatively peacefully.
The black panther nudged the little black panther in front of it and said, "Master, this is my son Jiuxiao, he is already two years old."
The little black leopard wasn't afraid of strangers at all. It raised its tail and went up to Jiang Gu, circling him once. It tried to climb onto Jiang Gu, but the big leopard grabbed it by the scruff of its neck and dragged it back.
A spirit beast resembling a Qilin tilted its head, looked at Wei Feng, and sniffed, "Master, is this also your newly acquired spirit pet?"
Wei Feng frowned. Although he had hoped that Jiang Gu would take him as a spirit pet, after seeing with his own eyes that Jiang Gu had so many spirit pets, he suddenly gave up the idea. He stared at the Qilin with unfriendly eyes and said coldly, "I am your master's disciple."
"Tsk." The Qilin curled its lip in disdain.
The garden's spirit beasts immediately began chattering and discussing.
"Ugh, it smells like low-class birds."
"It smells fishy to me. My owner hates fish and birds the most..."
"So ugly, so ugly."
"His cultivation level is so low, I don't think he could even beat my daughter."
"They are lowly birds."
"...Why do I smell something ghostly about it?"
"Like some kind of evil thing... I feel very uncomfortable, there's an ominous aura about me..."
"Master, you're covered in his stench! Master, go take a bath..."
"Master, I don't like him, I don't want him to live here."
"I don't like them either, those despicable, lowly beasts..."
Wei Feng was so angry that most of his ghostly markings appeared. In a fit of rage, he wanted to devour all these arrogant spirit pets.
“Wei Feng.” Jiang Gu’s voice carried a hint of warning.
Wei Feng glared at him with red eyes, then turned and ran out of the garden.
"How dare he glare at Master! I'm going to eat him!"
"No, no, he's the master's apprentice, he's different from us."
"What should we do? He looks like he's crying."
"Let the master coax him a bit."
"The master doesn't know how to coax, the master only knows how to fight."
"Stop talking about him. Birds aren't very bright; they tend to overthink things..."
"Shall we go apologize?"
Jiang Gu frowned slightly, and the noisy garden fell silent instantly, with only the youngest little black leopard chasing butterflies among the flowers.
Wei Feng didn't know the way, so he wandered into an empty room like a headless fly. After standing there for a while, he raised his hand, pinched a water mirror, and then revealed his true form.
The water mirror reflected a massive mermaid tail, its silvery-blue scales extending all the way to its lower abdomen. Several scales also covered the area behind its ears and cheeks, concealing the gills the mermaid used for underwater breathing. Its hands, though human, possessed translucent webbed feet resembling those of a fish, with sharp, long, black fingernails. Behind it stretched wings taller than a person, but the feathers on them were neither smooth nor soft, but rather incredibly stiff. On its forehead grew a pair of withered, tree-branch-like ram horns. Dark, sticky demonic patterns writhed and spread from its face, neck, and white pupils. It opened its mouth, revealing two differently shaped fangs on each side, one of which was broken off, revealing a long, thin, scarlet tongue…
He was clearly very imposing; he was certain that none of Jiang Gu's spirit pets could beat him in a fight, but for some reason, he just couldn't feel happy.
He pondered for a while and found the reason—because Jiang Gu didn't like it.
Jiang Gu prefers spirit pets that are elegant, noble, and clean, like Chi Xue, while he only knows how to roll around in the mud.
Jiang Gu even deliberately knocked off his earring.
Wei Feng stared at himself in the mirror, feeling annoyed, and decided to eat all of Jiang Gu's spirit pets in his garden that night when Jiang Gu wasn't looking.
Unfortunately, before he could put his plan into action, Jiang Gu dragged him out of the room.
"Change back." Jiang Gu's eyes hurt from looking at his original form.
The ghostly markings on Wei Feng's body bared their fangs and claws at him, as if threatening him, but refused to turn back into human form, baring their teeth and saying, "It looks better this way."
"..." Jiang Gu was strangely silent for a moment, "Don't talk nonsense if you're blind."
He was unaware that Wei Feng's white pupils had long been able to see; the "blindness" here was merely a literal meaning, but Wei Feng misunderstood it.
Wei Feng flapped his wings, trying to wrap him up, and the ghostly markings eagerly coiled around him. Jiang Gu didn't move, so Wei Feng intensified his efforts, his mermaid tail tightly binding Jiang Gu's calves, his entire mermaid clinging to him, rubbing his cheek against him pitifully, "Master, I'm not ugly, those spirit beasts are just jealous of me, I—"
He was too close to Jiang Gu, and was caught off guard by the subtle fragrance emanating from him. His gaze involuntarily fell to Jiang Gu's lips, and he swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing. "I..."
Before he could kiss him, Jiang Gu grabbed his neck, his face cold. "What did you do while I was unconscious in Qingliang Village?"
Wei Feng froze on the spot.
