Chapter 061 Jiangming Island
"The number you dialed is powered off..."
A few hours later, Lin Chiran called Qu Qinghuan's number again, but still no answer.
After asking everyone he could, no one knew where Qu Qinghuan was going. Lin Chiran couldn't help but feel a headache. After thinking about it, he finally contacted the Human Resources Department to explain the situation and asked them to help find Qu Qinghuan's employment information and look at the residence information filled in on it.
It had been ten years since Qu Qinghuan joined Shenghuang Records, but now he had no other means of contact, so he had to try his luck.
"The address is No. 127, Qingquan Road, Jiangfeng Town, Jiangming District."
It turned out that Qu Qinghuan used to live in Jiangming Island. Lin Chiran wrote down the address, but he didn't hold out any hope. No matter how he looked at it, it was impossible for him to still live there as it was too far from the city.
*
In early March, the weather gradually warmed up, and the early cherry blossoms quietly woke up from the branches, and the sunlight shone through the branches onto the soil.
In the wooden house, Qu Qinghuan looked out the window intently through the glass, not knowing whether he was in a daze or thinking about something.
After a while, feeling a little tired from sitting for so long, he stood up from his seat and walked to the door, stretching his slightly numb arms to relax his stiff spine and joints.
The temperature was already spring, but the wind was still chilly. Qu Qinghuan turned around and picked up his coat that was draped over the back of a chair, and his cell phone suddenly fell out of his pocket.
I reached out to pick it up reflexively, but my speed was no match for the acceleration of gravity. The front of the phone came into close contact with the ground, and the crack quickly and horribly extended from one corner to the entire screen.
Qu Qinghuan picked up the phone, looked at the spider-web-like screen, and blurted out: "Damn, I just changed my phone..."
To make matters worse, the fact that his inspiration was stuck was already a headache for him, and looking at the shattered screen made him feel even more miserable when he was unlucky.
He pressed the power button several times but there was no response. It couldn't be broken just now, right? Qu Qinghuan's face was full of disappointment. He suddenly remembered that the last time he checked his phone, the battery was only 10% left. I was busy recording my inspiration at the time, so I ignored it. Maybe it just ran out of battery and shut down automatically?
Thinking so, Qu Qinghuan walked to the table, rummaged around for a long time before finding a still intact charging cable from the drawer, connected it to the charging port, and waited quietly.
Not long after, the phone screen lit up automatically. Although it looked a bit miserable due to the broken screen, it was at least usable. As soon as he turned on the phone, numerous missed calls and messages came flooding in, refreshing so fast that Qu Qinghuan couldn't see them clearly.
“…Not really.” Qu Qinghuan muttered and clicked on the top notification message, which was actually a message from Lin Chiran.
After a quick browse, Qu Qinghuan said to himself: "Oh, it just won't work without me." Although he said that, he felt a little guilty, and after thinking about it, he decided to call back.
As soon as the call was connected, Lin Chiran on the other end said quietly, "Producer Qu still remembers to contact me?"
Qu Qinghuan held the mentality that nothing was a problem as long as he was thick-skinned, and he played a blind eye: "My phone was broken, and I just saw it." He didn't lie, it was indeed broken, and he just saw it, although the two things were not directly related.
"Okay." Lin Chiran couldn't do anything about him. Fortunately, he got in touch with him before the deadline for submitting the music, and asked the most concerned question: "How is the song being written by producer Qu?"
"It's almost there, almost there..." Qu Qinghuan felt even more guilty, and his eyes unconsciously drifted to the monitor in front of him which had automatically turned off.
Lin Chiran shook his head helplessly. He knew from Qu Qinghuan's words that there was definitely a problem, otherwise, with his personality, he would not have this attitude.
"The progress is stuck?" Lin Chiran had probably guessed it in his mind.
"How could that be?" Qu Qinghuan said nonchalantly, but then remained silent for a few seconds, his voice barely audible: "...Well, a little bit."
Lin Chiran knew that Qu Qinghuan's creative speed was a mystery, so he was prepared and didn't take it too seriously. He just helped him think of a solution: "Where are you now?"
"Jiangming Island." Qu Qinghuan replied.
Hearing this address again, Lin Chiran raised his eyebrows: "You live in Jiangming Island?"
"How is that possible?" Qu Qinghuan was speechless. Do you know how far it is from the island to the city? ! If he wanted to sleep after all this work every day, it would be Lin Chiran who asked, otherwise he wouldn't have the patience to explain: "I have a house here, which I use for vacation and as a studio."
"Oh." Lin Chiran's tone was indifferent, and occasionally the whistling sound of wind could be heard from the other end of the microphone.
"Oh, what does that mean?" Qu Qinghuan was mad: "You specifically asked me where I was. Shouldn't you have come down from the sky to help me find inspiration or something?"
Lin Chiran couldn't help laughing. It seemed that Qu Qinghuan was really stuck in his progress. "If I show up now, how does Producer Qu want me to help you?"
Qu Qinghuan chatted with Lin Chiran for a while, and the anxiety that was originally caused by the creative block also subsided a little. He joked casually: "At least show your sincerity, treat me to a meal and help me sort out my thoughts..."
"Sure." Lin Chiran said straightforwardly: "The address is No. 127, Qingquan Road, Jiangfeng Town?"
"Yes." Qu Qinghuan responded subconsciously, and then he realized something was wrong and raised his voice: "How did you know?"
"Keep it a secret." Lin Chiran deliberately kept the secret. He didn't expect Qu Qinghuan to still be at this address. Perhaps this man was unexpectedly nostalgic.
"Oh? Producer Lin got my address on purpose. This is really unbearable..." Qu Qinghuan said in a deliberately mean way.
In terms of shamelessness, Lin Chiran was no match for Qu Qinghuan and was defeated: "The address was given to me by the HR department. It's written on your employment documents."
Qu Qinghuan thought about it and it seemed that he had indeed written such a thing, but that was many years ago. He was actually still keeping it. Just as he was about to make a few more jokes, he heard the voice coming from Lin Chiran's side.
"You have a new message, which will be played for you below. Jiang Ming welcomes you..."
I guess I heard it right. Qu Qinghuan was stunned.
The voice assistant's tone was very steady. For a moment, neither of them spoke. They just listened quietly to Jiangming Island's enthusiastic entry welcome message.
Qu Qinghuan was surprised and asked, "You really came here?"
The voice assistant actually revealed it in advance. Lin Chiran smiled helplessly: "Yeah, didn't I say I would help you find inspiration?"
Qu Qinghuan confirmed again: "It takes you almost two hours to get here from the city, right?" Doesn't it mean that he had already walked here before contacting anyone?
"It's not that long. I came from a nearby place, so it only took me more than an hour." Lin Chiran went somewhere else before coming here.
That’s not close, Qu Qinghuan complained silently, a little unbelievable: "Is it for me...?" He had a weird feeling, Lin Chiran valued friends so much?
Yes, Qu Qinghuan had unknowingly gone beyond being a work partner and started to regard himself as a friend. He felt that Lin Chiran should have no objection to this.
Lin Chiran couldn't help laughing when he heard Qu Qinghuan's unbelievable voice, and stopped chatting with him: "Actually, I came to Jiangming Island for other things, and I didn't know you were here before."
Qu Qinghuan breathed a sigh of relief. As expected, he was not used to this overly sincere friendship model.
Lin Chiran continued: "If you need help, I will definitely come over, otherwise I will come to you first?"
"Stop, stop, stop. You should do something else first." Qu Qinghuan was terrified at the thought of being watched while composing music, so he changed the subject: "Come to think of it, what are you doing in Jiangming Island? There aren't any cooperative companies here."
"The instructor of the Xingye Choir invited me here. The choir has a club activity in the afternoon and said that it can be used as a reference for us." Lin Chiran explained.
While he was busy contacting Qu Qinghuan, he suddenly remembered the message sent by Teacher Sun a few days ago. According to the original plan, he should also come to Jiangming Island to take a look. He simply confirmed the itinerary and came directly today.
"...Xingye Chorus." Qu Qinghuan muttered, "You are really obsessed with them."
Lin Chi Ran was keenly aware of the unclear meaning in these words and was a little puzzled: "Don't you also think it's suitable?"
Qu Qinghuan sighed: "It is indeed suitable to participate in the recording, but I don't think they are suitable."
Lin Chi Ran was confused and bewildered. He asked, "What?"
Qu Qinghuan hesitated for a few seconds, but still said: "Forget it, send me a message when you arrive, and we'll go together."
Lin Chiran agreed, hung up the phone, and explained the situation to Teacher Sun.
Teacher Sun understood: "Okay, there is another staff member, right? I will pick you up at the gate in advance."
"Sorry for the trouble." Lin Chiran said, then looked for the way and it seemed that he was almost at the school. He sent a message to Qu Qinghuan and soon saw him appear in his sight.
"Let's go." Qu Qinghuan led the way with ease, seeming to be very familiar with this area.
Lin Chiran followed him around for a while and finally saw the school gate. He was a little curious: "Have you been here before?"
"I graduated from this school." Qu Qinghuan pulled his coat closer and said casually.
With surprised looks on his face, Lin Chiran was just about to speak when he saw a female teacher walking towards him.
"Hello, Producer Lin, I'm the teacher in charge of the Xingye Choir who contacted you." Teacher Sun saw the two people standing at the school gate at a glance, walked up to the guard, greeted them, and let them in.
Lin Chiran also greeted the teacher with a smile.
"I was a little worried. The road here is not easy to find. I was afraid you wouldn't be able to find it. It seems I was worrying too much..." Teacher Sun looked at Qu Qinghuan: "What's your name?"
"My last name is Qu, and I'm the music producer of this album." Qu Qinghuan said cooperatively.
Lin Chiran said humorously: "If it weren't for Producer Qu, I might have been lost. Fortunately, he graduated from this school."
Teacher Sun was very surprised: "It's actually an alumnus? What a coincidence." She always felt that she had seen this face somewhere before...
The three of them walked on the campus and soon arrived at the activity room of the Star Leaf Choir. They could hear the students' heated discussions from far outside the door.
"It's Lin Chi Ran! Lin Chi Ran is actually coming to our school! I'm so excited just thinking about meeting him in person!"
"And there might even be a chance to participate in a record recording. Am I really dreaming? Pinch me now... Hey! Are you really going to pinch me?"
The three of them stood outside the door, and Teacher Sun smiled awkwardly.
Lin Chiran couldn't help laughing. The students were indeed very energetic.
Teacher Sun pushed open the door in front and looked at the students inside: "Everyone, be quiet."
Lin Chiran and Qu Qinghuan followed her into the activity room, feeling the gazes of everyone, and introduced themselves and explained their purpose in a very kind manner.
"Everyone just follow your usual habits." Lin Chiran smiled faintly.
