Chapter 10 Strange Woman
"Sister, we found a ring on the beach."
There were not many people at the lost and found office. The counter was filled with small miscellaneous items, such as purses, mobile phones, hats, and larger items such as clothes and jackets.
The staff was stunned for a moment when they heard the voice, and then they reacted and looked down. Three little heads were standing in front of the counter, with different expressions.
Yuhito tried hard to raise his hand, and the ring lay in the child's palm.
"Oh my God." The staff member took the ring and said with a friendly smile: "Thank you very much, can you tell me where you found it?"
Hisahito could barely understand the simple English question, but he was stuck on how to describe the location. "Uh, it is located in..."
Zhe couldn't help with this. Like Yuhito, he started learning English after encountering the system.
They both looked at Xiuzhi.
Among the five children, Xiuzhi's English is the best.
Shuji had expected that he would be asked to play.
After organizing my words, I told the staff the approximate location.
The staff member recorded it, “OK, thank you again for your help.”
There is nothing more for them to do next.
Xiuzhi: "Let's go back."
"Wait a moment!"
The three children subconsciously stopped and looked in the direction of the sound.
The black high heels tapped eagerly on the smooth tiles as the blonde woman trotted over.
Hisahito: "Is she calling us?"
"That should be the case. We are the only ones in this direction."
Shuji remained silent, his eyes scanning the standing blonde woman.
"Sorry, kids, please wait for me." The blonde woman took a deep breath, nodded to them, and then turned to the staff at the lost and found office and said, "Hello, ma'am, these three kids just found a ring. It's mine."
"Yes. But do you have any evidence to prove that this ring is yours? This is also for the safety of your belongings, please forgive me."
"Of course, I understand." The blonde woman took out her phone, opened the photo album, and showed one of the photos to the staff. "There are still white marks on my hand from the ring, and the letter K is engraved on the inner ring of the ring."
The staff carefully looked at the ring on the woman's hand in the photo, and after confirming that it was correct and the reasons she gave, they returned the ring.
"Thank you so much."
“It’s my duty.”
The woman put the ring on and it was the right size.
She turned around and took a few steps forward, supporting herself with her hands on her knees, bending over, trying to keep her eyes at the same height as the children, and introduced herself with a smile, "Hello, my name is Caitlin."
"Hello." The children replied politely.
"Thank you so much for picking up my ring. I hope you can give me a chance to repay you."
“…”
Hisahito and Tetsuya silently turned on the automatic translation function of their watches.
When they were silent, Xiuzhi answered for them, "No need."
The child's slightly indifferent answer did not dampen Caitlin's enthusiasm. "It's not something expensive, just some cakes or candies. You can take them back to eat."
Xiuzhi hates adults who lack tact, especially those who have bad intentions and pretend to be stupid.
His good upbringing prevented him from saying any bad words, but his expression became even uglier, and it was obvious that he didn't want to pay any attention to Caitlin.
The slightly sharper words pierced Caitlin, "How do you know that we found your ring? We were almost done registering it, and you probably didn't see us handing over the ring?"
Caitlin was surprised. The loophole was indeed obvious, but children usually wouldn't think too much about it when faced with such a situation. They would just accept the thanks and maybe even go back happily to show off to the adults that they had done a good thing today.
"Because when I just returned to the beach, I asked someone and someone said they saw three children picking up something on the beach. I subconsciously thought it must be my ring, and in fact it was," Caitlin explained.
There is nothing wrong with this reason.
But Xiuzhi swore by his IQ that when they picked up the ring, no one nearby looked over, and considering the distance between them and the people around them at the time, it was impossible for them to hear their conversation.
Yuji could see [Mood Value -1] materializing and floating out from Shuji's head.
He smiled awkwardly and pushed Xiuzhi behind him, "Really, there's no need. These are what we should do."
Caitlin checked her phone, clasped her hands together and pleaded, "This ring means a lot to me, and I really want to thank you. It's 9:42 now, can you wait for me? I'll be back soon after shopping."
After being refused several times, the children could only nod and agree to wait where they were.
The children looked at each other in bewilderment as they watched Caitlin trot away in her high heels.
"She just looked at us for a long time, and only ran out to call us when we were about to leave." Xiuzhi sat down on the sofa in the hall.
He was very sensitive to other people's gazes, and Caitlin's scrutinizing and exploitative look was as obvious as a searchlight.
"Her enthusiasm is too stiff." Zhe also felt a little uncomfortable.
"Poor acting," commented Xiuzhi.
Yujin leaned against the back of the sofa, "Should we still wait for her?"
Shuji: "Wait and see what she's going to do."
Caitlin came back after a while, carrying several exquisite packaging bags.
"Sorry, it took me a long time to choose." Caitlin apologized. She checked her phone again. "It's 10:01 now. It's still early. There are a lot of things. Can I help you carry them back?"
Before Xiuzhi and the others could refuse, Caitlin received a call. She didn't know what was said on the other end. Caitlin answered a few times and then hung up. She looked at them apologetically: "Sorry, I have something to do and need to leave first."
Caitlin's departure left all three of them a little confused.
Hisahito: "Are we feeling wrong?"
"No." Xiuzhi was firm in his thoughts, "She definitely has other ideas, not just wanting to thank us."
Zheye picked up the things on the sofa and asked, "What should I do with these things?"
"Don't miss it, take them all back."
Beach, seaside.
They paddled a few laps with the child, and at Shinichi's strong request, they rented three more single-person kayaks and let the child paddle in the shallow water. The child sat in the kayak, like a small dumpling in a big bowl.
Kudo Yusaku held the rowboat in his hands and observed the other two children, "Tsunayoshi and Kuroro are both very strong."
The paddles are quite heavy, just right for adults, but difficult for children. I originally wanted to push the kids, but I didn't expect all three of them to be able to row, and Tsunayoshi and Kuroro rowed very easily. In comparison, Shinichi seemed to be a little weaker and not as comfortable.
Kudo Yukiko saw three small figures from a distance, "Oh, it seems that Hisahito and the others are back."
The system was curious and happy: "Did you buy anything?"
It gave pocket money to each child, but it had prepared necessary and unnecessary things in advance, so this was the first time in such a long time that it saw a child spend the pocket money it gave.
In the human world, people feel happy when they spend money on people they like.
In the system's mind, it would feel happy to spend money on its favorite human children.
The system asked Kudo Yusaku to look after the child and walked towards the beach.
The three children's figures got closer, and Hisahito ran over with two bags, taking one deep step and one shallow step, his pink hair flying up and down happily.
The system caught the flying child and threw him into the sky, and everyone laughed happily.
The system caught the child accurately. Hisahito spread his arms and shook the bag in his hand. He could tell from the rustling sound that there were a lot of things in it.
"Did you buy this?" the system asked.
Tetsuya and Shuji walked over slowly. Tetsuya said, "It's the owner of the ring who wants to thank us for the gift."
The system put down Yujin and stroked Tetsuya and Shuji's hair, "That's amazing."
Shuji and Tetsuya put down their bags and saw Tsunayoshi and Chrollo getting off the rowboat with the help of the other two adults and heading over here.
Tetsuya waved at them.
Hisahito: "Come and see! There are so many snacks!"
Repair the hem of the pull-up system.
The system took the opportunity to pinch the child's soft face, looked at the bag, and said with a smile: "You can eat, but don't eat too many snacks. You still have to eat a full meal at noon."
Glancing at the system speechlessly, Xiuzhi slapped away the system's hand that was trying to ruffle his hair.
At the beginning, Xiuzhi would pretend to be a good boy like he did at home, and would not refuse to be touched on the face or have his hair rubbed. However, after discovering that the system always took advantage of this to take advantage of him, Xiuzhi stopped pretending completely.
Even if he puffs up his face and rolls his eyes, the system will happily praise him for being cute.
The adults also need to take a break, so they just sit down together and eat.
The three children who came back from "hunting" distributed food to everyone.
Yusaku Kudo: "There will be a fireworks show in the evening. Are you interested in taking the children to watch it?"
"Of course we can't miss this. I've got my camera ready." The system wants to take a few artistic photos of fireworks for its children.
Shinichi chewed and mumbled, "I also want to go night diving to see the manta rays."
Kudo Yusaku: "There's still time later. I've booked an agency and can go anytime."
The system looked at its own child.
It makes all the plans. The children have no objection to what to do. Whatever it says is what it does. The system rarely listens to the requests of its own children.
Being too obedient is not good either.
Receiving the gaze, Tsunayoshi tilted his head and looked back confusedly, half of his cheek was stuffed with something and was still bulging.
The system blinked hard.
Come on, is there anything you want to play?
Not to mention going up to the sky and into the sea, it can even pick the stars for them if they want them.
Tsunayoshi looked down to see if there was anything different about himself, then looked at his friends on both sides, but didn't find anything unusual. He looked up and continued to give them a blank and innocent look.
Suddenly, Tsunayoshi's eyes lit up, and the system's smile also bloomed.
Tsunayoshi handed over his chocolate ball, and the system's smile withered halfway through.
"Fufu, you eat."
System: "Be good, eat it yourself, I have some."
