Chapter 3: Ordinary Child
The wooden courtyard was very large. After crossing the stepping stones, the stone bridge, and bypassing the rockery and waterfall, it took a few more steps to reach the destination.
"Master, the mistress calls you in." The maid gently pulled open the screen.
The child, standing upright, withdrew his gaze from the sky, smiled at his mother's maid, and then walked in slowly.
After he was three years old, his mother rarely took the initiative to see him, and he seldom took the initiative to disturb her. In addition, he had a heavy workload at school, so he had even less energy to think about her.
I called him here today. I guess he was sick two days ago, so I came to check on him now that he is almost well.
The child with mandarin-colored eyes changed to a look of admiration, and took small but quick steps forward to salute, "Hello, mother."
The woman sitting in the room had a beautiful appearance, and was six points similar to the child. She waved for him to come over, and put her arm around his shoulders and held him in her arms, "Xiuzhi, how are you getting better?"
"It's fine now, don't worry, mother."
The mother and son consoled each other. Mrs. Tsushima touched his head and said, "Your elder brother and father will be back tomorrow. I heard they brought you a gift."
"Really?" Xiuzhi showed a surprised expression, but after two seconds, he lowered his head again, his long eyelashes fluttering, and said shyly: "I also prepared gifts for my eldest brother and father. I haven't seen them for so long, Xiuzhi misses them very much."
"They must have missed you too. Xiuzhi is the most obedient."
The two talked for about half an hour before Mrs. Tsushima let the maid take the child away. The child in kimono seemed reluctant to leave.
"Then I'll go back and do my homework." Xiuzhi looked obedient.
"Okay." Mrs. Tsushima smiled and nodded with satisfaction.
Back in his room, Tsushima Shuji placed the books he needed to read today on the desk, and the maid left and stood guard at the door.
Her white and tender hands were flipping through books that were not suitable for her age. When her sleeves slipped down, she revealed a red watch that was out of place with her kimono and had a silly crab shell (in Shuji's words).
This was given to him last night by a stupid-looking bear, who said he wanted to make him an idol and make his name resound throughout the universe.
Of course, he had no interest in these things, but the condition of being able to travel through the world made it hard for Xiuzhi not to be tempted. So he readily accepted the invitation of the Pink Bear's agent.
Pink Bear is very easy to please. As long as Shuji shows an expression of admiration and expectation, and says a few words like "Really?", "That's amazing?", "Wow~", he can make Pink Bear's tail go up to the sky.
Although he didn't stay there for long, Xiuzhi had already discovered a lot of information.
For example, another member's name, age, home address, and even the role he plays in the team.
Namimori Town. After receiving this information, Shuji carefully checked the map of Japan. Just as he remembered, there was no such name on the map. If the pink bear was not lying or remembering it wrong, it could only mean one thing: another member was not in this world. In other words, it was very likely that all five members were not in the same world.
So interesting.
Xiuzhi continued reading, his fingers unconsciously curling up a corner of the page, then gently smoothing it out. The expression on his face faded a lot after returning to the bedroom, almost to nothing.
Tonight, Pink Bear said that the so-called captain would introduce him to the basic situation. Xiuzhi was rarely curious about someone. What kind of person would such a magical Pink Bear choose as captain?
…
In fact – quite ordinary.
There are no devil horns, no intimidating eyes, no show of strength, and no special abilities displayed.
Just a human cub with brown hair, brown eyes, and a soft smile when he looked at him.
He took him around the system space very seriously, introduced the layout here, and forgot the words when telling him about the future plans. He glanced at his sleeve casually, and then continued to explain seriously.
During this time, I would secretly look at him, and then inexplicably feel relieved.
Xiuzhi could tell his mental journey at a glance.
From "taking a sneak peek at Xiuzhi" to "Did you find it? That's great, no one noticed I was looking at the cheat sheet", and then to "giving myself a sigh of relief and relieving the tension".
The brown-haired kid was a little shorter than him and looked really easy to bully, like a harmless little animal.
So harmless that Shuji once suspected that Tsuna was playing him.
Xiuzhi was actually very curious too. He had been at home for so many years and had never seen such a normal human child. He looked silly and naive, which was very consistent with his age.
I just don’t know how he will manage the team in the future. Xiuzhi refers to himself and estimates that future members may not all be obedient.
But there must be a reason why Pink Bear chose Sawada Tsunayoshi as captain. After all, it was the first time they met, and he couldn't just judge him by one thing. Maybe there are some highlights that he hasn't discovered.
Shuji: "It's just the two of us now, right?"
Tsunayoshi was still a little nervous talking to someone he didn't know well, so he pinched his fingers and answered, "Well, Fu Fu said that someone will come in every day for the next three days."
Referring to his own situation, Xiuzhi suspected that the pink-haired bear had made a move on someone without considering whether the other person would agree.
Maybe there are a lot of candidates.
"Do we need to do anything first?"
All the tasks assigned by the system have been completed. Tsunayoshi: "No more, Fu Fu said that we just need to get familiar with the environment here and then play in the recreation room. Other things can be discussed after everyone arrives."
Tsunayoshi took Shuji to the recreation room, and he lowered his head along the way, thinking about what to do next. Fu Fu gave him the task of welcoming the new members, and he should make the new members feel... well... like, like returning home.
but……
Tsuna sighed inwardly.
Shuji doesn't look like he likes playing games. This is the first time Tsunayoshi has seen such a child.
He was wearing a neat kimono, speaking slowly like an adult, with a well-behaved but weird smile on his face. It's not that he was not good-looking. Even though he was a child, Tsunayoshi had a basic sense of aesthetics. Shuji was the best-looking person he had ever seen.
But it just looked very strange. Tsunayoshi couldn't tell what was strange about it, but he felt uneasy when he first saw Shuji, as if he was going to the bathroom alone at night.
While Tsunayoshi was thinking, Shuji was also looking at Tsunayoshi, watching him worry, frown, and sigh. His emotions were exposed and vivid.
The door of the entertainment room was very small, but once you entered, it was like entering another world. The sight of pink made Xiuzhi close his eyes tightly.
Help, does this pink bear really like pink?!
After adapting, Xiuzhi looked around the surrounding environment. He had not come in when he was introduced just now. When he saw the small door, he thought it was a playroom for children in ordinary families. After entering, he found that this space was so large. With the height of two children, they could not see far even if they stood on tiptoe, but some tall amusement facilities, such as the Ferris wheel and roller coaster, could be seen from a distance.
These are placed outside. There is also a house inside the room, with some small toys placed inside. Some of them have never been seen before, and they look very high-tech.
If an ordinary child came here, he would probably rush in and have fun for a few years.
However, the two people standing here are not ordinary children. Shuji is not to be mentioned, and Tsunayoshi has surprisingly strong self-control. In fact, the watches given to them by the system can play many games, but Tsunayoshi usually stops playing two or three music games a day. This is also because the system has told him to play games in moderation. Although Tsunayoshi wants to play, he is very obedient.
The tense atmosphere between the two of them had not yet disappeared, mainly because of Tsunayoshi's one-sided nervousness. Shuji had dealt with many adults at family banquets, and his social skills had long been maxed out. Whether they got along well or not was entirely up to him.
Shuji withdrew his gaze and turned his head to look at Tsunayoshi. Feeling the gaze on him, Tsunayoshi looked back.
The two of them stared at each other, and no one said anything.
Tsunayoshi's inner uneasiness has filled the screen.
Shuji was the first to speak. He lowered his head, lowered his eyes slightly, looked a little sad, and spoke timidly: "Tsunayoshi, do you hate me?"
Tsunayoshi's eyes widened. For the first time in his life, he experienced the feeling of being "misunderstood". His head was almost shaking with afterimages. "No, no, no, how could it be?!"
"Tsunayoshi doesn't seem to like talking to me." Shuji's face became even more depressed.
"No..." The child lacked language skills and had poor language organization ability. Tsunayoshi was simply speechless and his face turned red with anxiety. He had no idea that the little brat in front of him had the bad intention of playing tricks on others.
The system that was observing secretly bit the handkerchief tightly.
Countless images flashed through Tsunayoshi's mind. In the midst of Shuji's horrified expression, he hugged him tightly, face to face, "Shuji is super handsome, I like Shuji a lot! I'm just afraid that Shuji doesn't like me, not that I hate Shuji! Shuji, please forgive me!"
The soft and adorable human cub's eyes were filled with tears, as if he would just cry out if he didn't believe it.
The small handkerchief in the dark system is almost bitten to pieces.
The young master in kimono took a half step back with his right foot, tilted his head back slightly, and placed his stiff hands on Tsunayoshi's shoulders, trying to push him away, but he didn't use much strength, and his earlobes had already turned red.
He had anticipated many situations, but this situation was beyond his expectations.
Sure enough, he is still too young.
The perfect expression on his face showed signs of collapse. Xiuzhi said: "I believe it, I believe it, you let me go first."
Tsunayoshi sniffed and let go of Shuji. When he came to his senses, he was too embarrassed to lower his head and brought his toes together and touched each other.
Xiuzhi looked at him, then at the amusement facilities, pinched his sleeves, straightened the wrinkles on his clothes, coughed a few times, and then asked, "Where did you learn these words from?"
They had not been together for long, but Shuji was sure that these words were not something Tsunayoshi could have thought of.
Tsuna smiled shyly, "It's the TV show my mom watches."
In the TV series, after the older brother makes the older sister angry and sad, he will kneel in the rain, hug the older sister's legs and say these words. Every time, the older sister will not be angry anymore.
Tsunayoshi couldn't remember the lines clearly and could only give a rough idea.
The lines were compromised, but the effect was not compromised. Xiuzhi no longer looked sad.
Tsunayoshi decided to go back and watch it a few more times with his mother.
Xiuzhi took a deep breath and said, "I underestimated you. You are too smart."
"Are you praising me, Xiuzhi?" the little brown rabbit's eyes lit up.
Xiuzhi was silent.
The light in Tsunayoshi's eyes dimmed.
Half a while.
"Yes, I am praising you."
I really hate children, especially brown-haired children who say weird things as if they were cursed by a black witch.
Xiuzhi thought so.
