Chapter 23 People should know how to repay kindness
Jiang Ruohe raised his eyebrows and returned to his usual cold gaze towards me.
"Do you think I'm as vicious as you?"
I was stunned for a moment and my face turned cold.
"Then tell me, if you look like you don't want to come, why did you come?"
I'm sure he has a purpose.
As if I had hit the nail on the head, he glanced behind me with his deep and sharp eyes, and then he cleared his cough.
"There is indeed something I need your help with. After you have dinner with your father, accompany me somewhere."
I laughed at myself, knowing that Jiang Ruohe had no good intentions in coming to celebrate my dad's birthday. I raised an eyebrow at him and was about to say that I wouldn't go.
As if he could see through my thoughts, there was a cunning smile in his eyes.
"You have no right to refuse. If it weren't for me, your stepmother would have embarrassed you today. People should know how to repay kindness."
I was so angry that I glared at him fiercely, but he suddenly grabbed my waist and I trembled all over.
"Let's go. Don't keep my father-in-law and the others waiting too long."
When we got back to the dinner table, Jiang Ruohe was very enthusiastic in helping me pick up some food and whispered to me to eat more. I got goosebumps all over my body just hearing that. I was very hungry to begin with, but with this scumbag like him sitting next to me, I had no appetite at all.
Jiang Ruohe put the dishes he had picked up in front of my father and told him to eat more.
"I'll have my assistant bring you some supplements tomorrow. You're too thin."
Jiang Ruohe's thoughtfulness made my dad smile, but Shen Xiuting, who was sitting next to him, had a slightly embarrassed look on her face, and then smiled.
"We need to give Old Yu some good nourishment."
After the dinner, as soon as I got into Jiang Ruohe's car, Jiang Ruohe asked me how he performed today.
I rolled my eyes at him and said he was talking too much nonsense today.
Jiang Ruohe's face turned cold and he said no more. I didn't ask him where he was taking me, but just looked out the window.
He took me to Qinghua Shopping Mall and picked out a white short dress for me to change into. When I came out of the changing room, I saw Jiang Ruohe sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper, and asked him what he thought of the dress.
Jiang Ruohe looked up at me, his eyes were stunned for a moment, and he said lightly that it was okay. He called a man standing beside him. The man came over and pushed me to sit on a chair beside him. Then he told me that he was a stylist from a certain studio.
In a few seconds, she tied my hair up and put on some light makeup.
Following Jiang Ruohe, I wondered where he was taking me.
After I followed him into the venue, I realized it was a grand party with many important people inside. Jiang Ruohe saw me standing there, raised his eyebrows and looked at me, asking me to walk faster.
"Shouldn't Huang Minwei be brought to such an occasion?" I muttered softly as I walked in front of him.
"Stop asking questions." He took my hand, which was completely cold, and led me to the lounge.
Jiang Ruohe let me go and told me to stay here and not run around. He was going out to attend a social event and would come up to call me later.
What he said was very similar to what he said when Wang Yingzhi took me to a party last time. He asked me to stay in the lounge first, but then ran out and teamed up with Jiang Yichen to frame me.
"Jiang Ruohe, you don't want to punish me like your mother, do you?"
There was a flash of anger in Jiang Ruohe's eyes, and he looked at me with some sarcasm.
"You still hold a grudge."
That's natural, how could I not remember it?
"Yu Xiaowan, my mother bullied you just to vent her anger for Minwei. What she did was nothing compared to what you did when you murdered Minwei's child." Jiang Ruohe said coldly.
