Chapter 16: The Relaxed and Content Zhuang Wen, and the Miserable Tang Xin's Family

Zhuang Wen came out of the restroom.

He immediately spotted the girl curled up on the sofa, hugging her legs.

He thought about it and didn't go over.

Instead, he went to the kitchen and started making breakfast.

A mouthwatering aroma wafted from the kitchen.

Yan Yan's delicate nose twitched slightly as she was drawn by the aroma and couldn't help but look up at the kitchen.

Then she saw Zhuang Wen, wearing an apron, walk out of the kitchen, carrying two steaming bowls.

Zhuang Wen placed the bowl on the coffee table, and a fragrant aroma wafted from it.

Yan Yan lowered her head and didn't look, but when Zhuang Wen returned to the kitchen, she still looked up at him.

Two bowls of noodle soup, each with a fried egg and scallions floating on top, a feast for the eyes, nose, and palate.

Zhuang Wen walked over with chopsticks and a dish of pickled vegetables, and gently placed them on the coffee table.

"Let's have breakfast."

Zhuang Wen untied his apron, sat down opposite Yan Yan, and pushed a bowl of noodles in front of her.

Yan Yan lowered her head, a few strands of her hair falling down, partially obscuring her fair face.

Seeing that Yan Yan didn't react, Zhuang Wen pursed his lips and pondered, "Last night..."

"I forgot."

Yan Yan mustered her courage and suddenly spoke, interrupting Zhuang Wen.

Zhuang Wen understood what she meant; she simply wanted to stop bringing up the matter.

"Let's eat then."

Zhuang Wen nodded, picked up his chopsticks, and said, "I have to go to work after I finish eating. You should go home too."

This time, Yan Yan did not refuse. She glanced at Zhuang Wen, picked up the chopsticks on the coffee table, picked up a noodle, and slowly sucked it into her mouth.

Her eyes widened, and she looked utterly astonished.

"Is it not tasty?"

Zhuang Wen observed her expression.

"good."

Yan Yan's face returned to calm as she swallowed the noodles in her mouth.

In her heart, she exclaimed with delight: These noodles are incredibly delicious!

It's so delicious I could cry.

She couldn't wait to pick up another noodle and stuff it into her mouth, chewing it with great relish.

Seeing this, Zhuang Wen felt relieved and began to focus on eating his noodles.

Yan Yan took a bite of the pickled vegetables, her face contorted in a strange expression as she forcefully suppressed her emotions.

But then a thought popped into my head: Wow, this noodle dish is a perfect match for pickled vegetables!

She took a bite of the fried egg and found it incredibly delicious.

Glug glug—

She ate faster and faster, until finally she didn't care about her image anymore, and the sound of her drinking soup drowned out the sound of Zhuang Wen drinking soup.

Suddenly, she froze.

Her big eyes stared blankly at the bowl.

An indescribable emotion crossed his face.

There was even a fried egg in the bowl!

That means there were two fried eggs in her bowl!

She looked up at Zhuang Wen.

Zhuang Wen looked up as if he knew her thoughts, and smiled and said, "There are three eggs left at home, you can have two and I can have one."

At this moment, in Yan Yan's eyes, Zhuang Wen's smile was warm, like a gentle breeze, giving her a strange feeling.

For some reason, she felt like crying.

She quickly lowered her head and, taking advantage of the mealtime, forced back her tears.

Five minutes later.

Yan Yan even finished the soup.

Looking at the clean bowl, Zhuang Wen almost laughed.

Has this person been starving for days? Or is it just that homemade noodles taste better?

Yan Yan blushed slightly, glanced at Zhuang Wen, and handed him the bowl.

Zhuang Wen smiled, picked up the bowl, and went into the kitchen.

Yan Yan patted her chubby little belly, glanced at Zhuang Wen's back with a complicated look, and then left quietly.

Hearing the door open, Zhuang Wen came out of the kitchen. When he saw that Yan Yan was not there, he realized something and felt a little disappointed.

But then, when he saw the clock on the wall, his expression changed drastically. "Oh no, I'm going to be late!"

Sure enough, when he arrived at the company to clock in, it was already past 9 o'clock.

However, since Lü Bin was kicked out of the group, no one dared to interfere with Zhuang Wen.

He was happy to do so.

Sitting leisurely at my workstation.

[Ding! Congratulations, host, for completing the mission! You have received the following rewards: 10 points to increase your "Mountain Moving and Sea Overturning" skill and 5 points to increase your Charm!]

The system's voice echoed in my mind.

At the same time, a strange feeling welled up in my heart, and a hot torrent flowed through my limbs and bones.

"It's finally here."

A smile appeared on Zhuang Wen's face.

When he saw Yan Yan being bullied last night and intervened, a system voice sounded in his mind at the same time, with the mission to rescue Yan Yan.

Last night, he wondered why the system hadn't issued a reward yet, even though he had already saved Yan Yan.

It seems that this task was only truly completed this morning.

...

Unlike Zhuang Wen, who is so relaxed and carefree.

Tang Xin's family was shrouded in gloom.

Tang Jiashan and Fang Xiue sat on the edge of the bed with furrowed brows, staring at Tang Xin, who was lying motionless on the bed, with a mixture of tension and concern.

At this moment, Tang Xin's complexion was not good. Her eyes were closed, her cheeks were pale, and her lips were dry, as if she were dehydrated.

"Sigh, what should I do? I never imagined Tang Xin would like Zhuang Wen so much, I..."

Fang Xiu'e sighed repeatedly, her brows furrowed.

"I told you long ago, you should stay out of their business and stop giving Xin Xin bad advice, like insisting on buying a house of more than 120 square meters, moving in after the wedding, and not letting Xiao Zhuang's father come... Now look, they're having a conflict, what are you going to do?"

Tang Jiashan stared at Fang Xiu'e with a hint of anger at her lack of ambition, his whole body trembling with rage.

“I didn’t know it would turn out like this. Besides, when I made the suggestion, Liang Shang was very supportive and said my suggestion was correct…”

Fang Xiu'e grumbled, unconvinced.
