Chapter 43 I haven't let go yet, so why have you?

On the sofa.

Tang Xin remained silent.

Zhuang Wen's words were a wake-up call, prompting her to reflect.

In the past, she genuinely believed that Zhuang Wen's sacrifices were his due and that she enjoyed them without feeling guilty. Therefore, she did not care about Zhuang Wen's love, nor did she acknowledge her own love for him.

But now, she regrets it.

"Hahaha……"

Seeing her silent demeanor, Zhuang Wen felt a sudden surge of desolation and amusement for some reason.

The desolation and absurdity both point to the past self.

He laughed loudly, his eyes gradually becoming moist.

At that moment, he let go completely.

Hearing Zhuang Wen's loud laughter, Tang Xin clutched her chest. She felt a sharp pain in her heart, so intense that her whole body convulsed, as if something had been stripped away from her heart and completely disappeared!

I've laughed enough.

Zhuang Wen's expression returned to calm.

Wipe the moisture from the corners of your eyes.

He gave Tang Xin his first smile in a long time and said, "Miss Tang, is there anything else? If not, you should go back now, it's getting late."

Tang Xin stared blankly at Zhuang Wen's smile, as if she were in another world.

"you……"

That polite yet distant smile caused Tang Xin a pang of pain in her heart.

She finally understood what the excruciating pain she had just experienced was.

"Can't we start over?"

Tang Xin took two steps forward, tightly grasped Zhuang Wen's hand, her face pleading, her eyes hopeful, and tears streaming down her face.

Zhuang Wen tried to pull his hand away, but didn't. He kept smiling and didn't say anything.

"Say something..."

"We can start over..."

"I apologize, I'm sorry..."

"Please forgive me, I was really wrong..."

"Why are you so cold? I don't believe you've really let go of our years of relationship..."

"I haven't let go yet, so why have you? Why..."

"Waaaaah..."

Tang Xin burst into tears, like a little girl who had lost her candy, until she finally fainted.

Zhuang Wen frowned, pinched her philtrum, and finally brought her back to her senses.

"Zhuang Wen, please don't leave me. I beg you, I promise I won't be willful anymore. I'll do whatever you ask, as long as you..."

As soon as she woke up, she grabbed Zhuang Wen's arm, crying and pleading.

Zhuang Wen reached out and gently smoothed the hair on her forehead. This tender gesture made her heart tremble with utter infatuation. "Awen, you..."

"Xin Xin, let go of your obsession. It's really over between us."

But Zhuang Wen's next sentence completely broke her down.

"Obsession... Waaah... I can't let you go..."

Tang Xin's face was pale, her delicate body trembled, and she cried heartbrokenly, clinging tightly to Zhuang Wen's waist and back.

Zhuang Wen sighed, gently patted Tang Xin's shoulder, and comforted her, "It's all in the past now."

Upon hearing this, Tang Xin burst into tears.

Her already weak appearance, coupled with her crying and sobbing, made people feel extremely sorry for her.

Zhuang Wen also felt a little sad and didn't know what to say.

But he had given up on his past feelings for Tang Xin; what remained was at most the friendship between them.

Bang bang bang!

A series of urgent knocks sounded on the door.

Zhuang Wen quickly opened the door.

Tang Jiashan and Fang Xiu'e rushed over.

Where is my daughter?

That was their very first sentence.

After Zhuang Wen called out "Uncle and Aunt," he stepped aside, revealing Tang Xin lying weakly on the sofa.

"Xin Xin!"

Tang Jiashan rushed forward in one stride.

"Zhuang Wen, you bastard, what have you done to our Xin Xin?"

Fang Xiu'e grabbed Zhuang Wen's collar and glared at him fiercely as she roared.

Zhuang Wen remained silent and offered no resistance.

"Xiu'e!"

Tang Jiashan looked at his daughter with pity, then gave a low shout.

Fang Xiu'e slowly loosened Zhuang Wen's collar.

Fang Xiu'e hurried to the sofa, looked at Tang Xin, whose face was pale and who was extremely weak, and a look of pity appeared in her eyes, "Xin Xin".

"Dad, Mom!"

Tang Xin had cried until she was completely exhausted and had no more tears left.

Upon seeing her parents appear before her, she weakly uttered a cry before closing her eyes.

"Xin Xin, let's go home."

After saying something gently, Tang Jiashan picked up Tang Xin and walked towards the door.

Zhuang Wen opened his mouth, wanting to suggest that he carry Tang Xin downstairs, but in the end he didn't say it.

As he said, his relationship with Tang Xin was over, and he had no reason to hug her.

He kept his head down.

Tang Jiashan carried Tang Xin past him without even glancing at Zhuang Wen.

Tang Xin opened her eyes, glanced at Zhuang Wen with utter desolation, then closed them again, remaining silent ever since.

As Fang Xiu'e passed in front of Zhuang Wen, she didn't say anything, but she snorted coldly, expressing her attitude.

Looking at the empty living room, Zhuang Wen scratched his head in frustration.

But he felt a great sense of relief.

It felt as if an invisible chain had disappeared from my heart.

"Only today do I realize who I am."

He suddenly said this.

Since college, ever since he and Tang Xin got together, his life has revolved solely around her.

Most of what he did revolved around her.

As for his own affairs, he had very little to do.

Even now, when he looks back, he can't remember what he ever did for himself.

This is undeniably pitiful.

But from now on, this invisible shackle has crumbled.
