explode?
Pu Weichao's words puzzled me.
Once I was in the pickup truck and sitting in the back seat, I was puzzled and asked, "What do you mean by 'exploding'?"
Pu Weichao said with a sly smile, "It means exactly what it says. Since we've already taken so many weapons, there's no need to leave any for others, so let's just blow them all up."
Fei Lichao, who was driving, was very excited and said, "I put a time bomb in the armory. It will explode in half a minute. Everything in the armory will be blown up. Hold on tight, let's get out of here quickly so we don't get blown up."
I don't know if the bomb Fei Lichao planted was the kind I was thinking of, but judging from Fei Lichao's excitement and the speed at which he was driving, the bomb must have been quite powerful.
The pickup truck moved away from the safe zone, and a police car was in front of us with its taillights flashing.
Snowflakes were falling heavily, and the night was hazy.
Boom!
A loud bang suddenly came from behind, startling me so much that I flinched all over.
A bright flash of light came from the direction of the safe zone. I turned around and saw that the entire safe zone was illuminated by the fire, which was extremely dazzling.
But it's not over yet.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
In an instant, three more explosions occurred in the direction of the safe zone. The dazzling flames melted all the snow in the sky, and the thick smoke disappeared into the darkness. Various flames broke out and landed in various parts of the safe zone and its periphery. Flames and heat waves were everywhere.
The monsters inside should have all been killed.
As for Ludin and his group, no one knows what happened to them. If they were close to the armory, they would probably have been blown to bits.
Pu Weichao stared at the safe zone, his eyes filled with excitement.
"Now we can relax. The armory in the safe zone is gone, and all the remaining weapons are in our car. Lu Ding and the others are probably dead too," Pu Weichao said with a smile.
I turned around, no longer looking at the firelight behind me, and said, "What if Ludin and his group didn't die inside?"
Pu Weichao laughed and said, "That's impossible. The explosion was so violent, and the entire safe zone is so small. They would definitely die."
I nodded, no longer worrying unnecessarily.
With such a massive explosion, the entire safe zone was destroyed. How could they possibly have survived?
My chest was still hurting, but it didn't get better after sitting in the car and resting for a while.
Pu Weichao noticed that my expression was off and asked, "Are you alright? You told me earlier that there was no sound at all. Did you run into Lu Ding and the others?"
I nodded with a wry smile and said, "Yes, I ran into Huang Yifeng."
Pu Weichao stared wide-eyed. "What happened? When I told you to retreat, Lu Ding and the others shouldn't have even reached the entrance to the safe zone yet. How did they run into each other?"
I shook my head: "I don't know either. Maybe Lu Ding sent Huang Yifeng over to check first, and then I ran into him."
Pu Weichao asked, "So, he's the one who made you look like this?"
I said, "Yeah, he did it, but it's okay. I think he'll be fine after a night's rest."
"What about Huang Yifeng? Did you kill him?"
"Yes, kill him." I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and felt a sharp pain as my chest heaved.
Huang Yifeng's two kicks were so powerful that I could hardly bear them.
Pu Weichao nodded: "It's good that you killed him. Anyway, we've made a huge profit this time. Apart from you getting into some trouble, we're all fine. Now you can rest well, we'll be home soon."
"Hmm." I stopped talking and closed my eyes to rest.
The two vehicles kept moving forward, the road ahead was pitch black, and the lights of the safe zone behind them grew farther and farther away until they could no longer be seen.
The explosion in the safe zone was very loud; many monsters in the vicinity would probably hear it. Those monsters that heard it would likely be attracted by the sound and head towards the safe zone.
But that has nothing to do with us anymore. The safe zone is no longer of any use. Let there be as many monsters as we want, we're not going to that place again anyway.
Half an hour later, we returned to school.
Although this operation cannot be considered a triumphant return, it can still be described as a victory.
Originally, I just wanted to go to the safe zone to check the situation in the afternoon, but I ended up running into Ludin and his group.
Then, because of their respective interests, they had to go there late at night to get the guns. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have been in such a sorry state, nor would we have been in such a hurry, and the weapons in the safe zone's armory wouldn't have been wasted like that.
However, it's all in the past, so there's nothing more to say.
Pu Weichao helped me upstairs and into the dormitory.
I washed my face, changed into clean clothes, and as soon as my head hit the pillow, my consciousness became blurred, and I quickly fell asleep.
...
I didn't have any nightmares and slept soundly until dawn.
When I woke up, I recalled what had happened yesterday. I stretched my hands out from under the covers and saw that they were still stained with blood, probably because I hadn't washed them properly after coming home last night.
Thinking about Huang Yifeng, whom I killed yesterday, I sighed. "After killing someone, other people always feel some guilt, no matter what, and they always have nightmares at night. But why don't I feel anything after killing someone? I don't even feel a little bit of guilt? Why?"
Am I really that cold-blooded?
I don't understand this. When I got out of bed, my waist and chest were still aching, but it was much better than last night.
I took a clean bottle of mineral water from the side, opened it, took a sip, brushed my teeth, washed my face a little, and turned my head to look. There was already a layer of snow on the air conditioner unit outside the window.
"Has the snow still not stopped?"
I glanced at the sky; it was still snowing lightly.
Wrapped in a coat, hands in his pockets, he shrank back as he approached the dormitory door.
Standing in the corridor, the balcony was covered in snow. Not only that, but everywhere in the school was covered in snow. The whole world was dressed in silver, which was unbelievably beautiful.
Footsteps approached from beside me, and a voice quietly said, "It's been so long since I've seen such heavy snow."
"Yes, it's really beautiful," I said.
Lu Jing stood beside me with a smile on her face.
Everything before my eyes is completely different from what I saw last night.
Last night, they were fighting to the death over weapons, but now, the cold wind blows, the school is quiet, and everyone is safe and sound.
Perhaps, this is what life is all about?
Is this the life I want?
There are not so many troubles, no need to worry about money, no need to consider the complexities of social relationships, and no need to worry about being late tomorrow morning.
Perhaps this is truly the life I want, even though there are fewer people and the world has collapsed, at least I am free.
Although this freedom comes at a great cost...
Thinking about this, I couldn't help but feel surprised. Could it be that I have some kind of psychological problem? Otherwise, why would I have such a strange thought?
